We, too, use the internet for research and to find activities, but we do not use online classes. We were going to enroll our 7th grader in the public k-12 program, which has its benefits, but I've become spoiled and don't like following somebody else's regimen. Our state is very hs friendly, and I prefer dancing to the beat of our own drum.

We use the internet a lot for worksheets and research but we've never used an online class for our homeschooling.
(My husband used an online college to go back to school and get a degree)

I use BJU online across the board for my 1st grader. for my 4th graders we use BJU except for math. They use Aleks.com for that. My 8th and 10th graders use Monarch except for math where they also use Aleks. It works quite well for us, and the kids really enjoy it.

They are not enrolled in the academies. We just use the curriculum online.

No online classes or co-ops here. We can't afford the expense. I did at one time try time4learning, but became aggravated I could not determine IF my children were just "completing tasks" or IF there were correctly accomplishing tasks. (there is a difference in 80% answered and all incorrect versus 100% answered and 80% correct) the help from the site was fairly poor when I would try to ask questions so I cancelled the subscription.

FWIW I consider all education "enrichment"

no, we join a co-op where the classes aren't "enrichment" but the REAL DEAL! Transcript worthy biology, british lit, speech, geometry, etc. quizzes, tests, exams, essays, research papers, etc. for real grades and real high school credits.

Blessings,
Heidi

We've taken a couple shorter length writing courses from Bravewriter.com. One, now called Foundations in Writing, was a family class with me learning tons and tons and having assignments to do with the kids. I STILL refer back to the stuff I learned in that class, now years later. It contains information that is applicable from just learning handwriting up through high school, and even some things that will help college students.

Then last summer I had my oldest, then an 8th grader, take their Kidswrite Intermediate course. The idea of it is to take kids from the freer form writing of elementary years to the formal writing of high school.

Does the drug, alcohol and traffic course that is required to get a learner's driver license count? That is the only course we've used that is offered online. We do use the computer for Spanish I though with Switched on Schoolhouse.
