We run almost every day and he bikes with us @ age 3 or we are active every day!
We are starting a new veggie garden for ourselves as well ashim [we quit 3 yr ago b/c of no energy but got it back!]
We eat MUCH MORE HEALTHIER which is the KEY! I lost 20 lbs last yr & have kept it off & have incorporated more fruits since we eat more of those ! And I try to lead by example~ I love the dairy so he gets cheese [lowfat for ME but not HIM] frozen yogurt for us all ,yogurt ,especially Greek as it is more fillimg for me.,string cheese,Babybel Cheese wedges, Cuties~ a very small tangerine, all fruits[we have 7 fruit trees in our backyd plus blackberry bushes!] except grapefruit ~we don't like it!
And lastly ,the NON FRUIT/VEGGIE snacks that are healthy~Dk.Cocoa ALMONDS ,letting him have only ONE and monitoring him eating each one, Choc.yogurt,Choc.Cheerios, 2% cottage cheese [I LOVE it so he eats it,too!~not fat free or 1% ~i DON'T LIKE THOSE!],CHOC LT. Silk Soy milk for me & TRUMOO for him ,though he drinks mine anyways! Almond Silk Soy milk,Goldfish crackers for him & Reduced ZTriscuit crackers for me . Hope this info helps!

We have done lots of things over the years, but one way I sneek healthy things in is to use whole wheat in my bread and crust. I use 100% now, but when we were making the transition, I would mix it and add a little more whole wheat. Now they don't even ask. I make everything with whole grains.
Also, if you chop up veggies or puree them, it is a good way to sneek some into sauces.
You could also incorperate it into a unit on health where they have to keep track of the nutrition for what they eat. (I know this doesn't work for a 3 year old, but for older ones it is great
I also quit buying the junk. If it isn't in the house, they can't sneek it and it is better for everyone's health.

In CHRIST I can!

I'm sure your kids are like my kids. They like sweets and pizza more than asparagus and quinoa. How do you encourage your kids to eat well? My oldest son loves all kinds of healthy foods (raw kale being one of his faves!) but my youngest, who's three, just flat won't try it unless it's on a pizza or in a bun. I do have a rule that he has to try one bite of everything on his plate, but there are many dinners where his three bites are all he has. He is mega-stubborn and will flat refuse to eat and not care that he has nothing else until morning. My oldest, for all his culinary experimentation, sneaks food (sweets, specifically) just to yank my chain. I think it's a dangerous precedent. I feel like I'm supposed to be educating these kids about right and wrong and good food and bad food and they just aren't getting it. What do you do?
