Okay. I'll gather my technical support (aka 17 year old) and show you some things. Be sure to zoom in so you get a good look.
I'll let you know RIGHT HERE when I have it on my page.

See you are so creative. I couldn't do that. You're amazing.

"There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're COMMITTED to something, you accept NO EXCUSES; only results."

I tired of being sick and tired all the time!! Time to do something about it!!

And This Too Shall Pass.

LIFE is like an echo..........

Hi!
I wanted to encourage you with this idea. Purchase a poster board (mine is kinda foamy/plastic), buy two packs of colored index cards. Cut them in six squares. Using a glue stick place the squares around the poster board to create a game board. Use some of your colored index cards to make little bridges or whatever. I used pink/red for the first easy 'level' of the board, then orange, then yellow, then blue and finally green. Use the bridges to connect the colored levels. We ended up making our game into a Playstation Tarzan game, one of our favorites. So we put animal stickers in spots to make the game more challanging: each square that had an animal touching it, made the game more difficult. I used about 24 squares per level. Also, like Tarzan, I took old Scrabble letters and placed them next to the stickers, if the child succeeded with that square, he was allowed to 'collect' the Scrabble tile. I have 15 in my game and all the tiles together spell out, I HAVE BRAIN POWER. We also made fun 'sliding' areas, like Tarzan and the final square is really a long branch that Tarzan can slide into 'home' where we drew a yellow parasol of Jane's. lol
How to play. When you are doing school with your kids, take notes on 1/2 a white index card. Use those cards as game questions. In every square, there can be a token (penny, that you can let the child keep or , in my case, if they collect them all, they get a treat). Also in one corner of each square, there is a small letter P. That stands for Practice. They stay on the 'P' if they get a question wrong. You go ahead and tell them the answer, then on the child's next turn, they get to try again. When they get it correct they collect the coin and move ahead one.
This gameboard is basic. We can change it to however we want, from kindergarten to 12th. You can do math problems of every level, History, English, Spelling, Science...ANYTHING, even family questions. The way mine is set up, I have at least 120 possible questions and that makes a long game if several people are playing. For younger kids let them do only one colored level each. Or you can alter it and make the red be the beginners level and the questions get harder as you go.
Tip: You can also cut out old test papers and glue them on to the index cards (or however you wish to do it.)
Anyway, that's a fun way to 'get school' in. And they are sure to practice the answers so they are ready for the game.

Another tip: As you read Textbooks (or whatever you use), write down the important info on SPIRAL INDEX CARDS. Your child can then have a little packet for each subject and just grab it and go while in the van or just as a handy reminder.
I am starting that this year.
Have fun!
~Susan
