My doctor doesn't say much about my cholesterol except to "keep up the good work".. he knows I can't (WON'T) take statins and prefer to make changes naturally in what I eat and the amount of exercise I get. A print out from the labs gives me all the highs or lows..

My doctor doesn't really say much, except to say my cholesterol is high or okay. He doesn't go into the HDL or LDL. The bloodwork printout that I can get at the doctor's office highlights anything high or low.

You know over the last 50 or 60 years the experts have told us different things about what is important about cholesterol. Originally they said total cholesterol was most important. Then they said HDL and HDL LDL ratio was. Then it was LDL. My medical provider is now saying recent studies have determined that LDL isn't as important as they once thought. The way they are now treating people with cholesterol issues is to give them 40 mg of Lipitor or the equivalent dosage in the other statins. That blew me away when they told me that. I am curious if other members with cholesterol issues are hearing a similar story from their doctors?
