that's good to know. I've been trying to build up a BD library of all things, from choreo to drills and cardio.

You know, I just got a bunch of new DVDs and the "Cardio Bellydance" Dvd from World Dance New York IS actually a pretty decent cardio workout! The "circuit" part is pretty high intensity. I worked up a sweat! Yay!

I know we usually don't work hard enough to get my heart rate up for cardio, but lately as we prepare for a lot of shows, if really is a cardio workout! My shoulders and arm are tired, so I know we work them, and I try to really accent my hip movements from my core.

Okay, I just ordered a heart monitor so I can see what my heart rate is like during various bellydance activities. I'll report the findings shortly. I hope I'm getting my heart rate up enough when I dance that it can be considered cardio exercise!

I actually use my inner core muscles in my hip movements and I saw a great improvement in my abs with it. My tummy is really fit and I've got curves... LOL!!!

Thank you so much, Amanda.... emoticon

Hi everybody! As your new team leader I have promised to keep this team active and talking. So let's talk about how we each use belly dancing as part of our regular fitness routine. Okay?

I'm currently using a weighted belt around my middle (like scuba divers wear) to help get more resistance on my slow moves.

Remember, if you use your inner core muscles to drive the hip movements (instead of your feet or legs) you'll get more of a workout in your abs.

Also, veil work is GREAT for the upper arm muscles!! I thought I was pretty FIT until I started teaching veil work. Yow!

So now it's your turn -- what are you doing with your belly dancing, and is it helping to tone your belly? :)

Enjoying every single moment I can with my husband and little boy!
