First of all, good for you on working on the strength training! I have such a hard time with that myself.

I would have to say it depends how vigorously you are dancing and what style of belly dance you do. But overall, given how graceful belly dance usually is, I wouldn't think it would affect you too badly. You might want to take it easy for the first couple of rest days until your body gets used to the new strength training and isn't as sore. I know for myself, that some cardio workouts tend to help the soreness I have in my legs and arms. It warms up those muscles and helps keep them moving. I have a tendency to stiffen up no matter how much I stretch. So it might actually help the soreness.

Sorry I can't provide a definite yes or no answer, but that is my opinion and experiences. I hope it helps. Keep up dancing!

I've been trying to get back into belly dancing, but I'm having an issue. I just started a squat and and push up program, so I thought I'd do belly dance on rest days.

Well my quads have been sore from squats, and my arms have been sore from push ups.

Do you think that doing belly dance during my rest days would effect my rest days? Hips lifts really works my quads so I'm kind of concerned.

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.
