I'm using Dr. Phil's book WEIGHT LOSS SOLUTIONS as my checklist to follow towards adapting a healthier life style. Key 6, Step Step 3 – “Consequate” your Exercise Behavior (what will it take for you to exercise?)

Basically what he suggests doing is making up a list of things you really want to do as rewards. Then when you accomplish say your exercise goal for 1 week, you get to do something you've really been wanting to do - like maybe buying a new bathing suit or even just reading a novel. It really does work for me in other areas of my life as well.

Marcia - 55 and loving every moment of it in 2008!

Yeah like a hot bath or extra time reading a book or something. It only made sense to me to reward myself when I actually met my goals but I wasn't sure exactly what this site encouraged. So thanks for clearing that up for me! Hope you feel better.

I forgot to say...

why reward yourself if you didnt meet your goals?
You are rewarding for sub-prime behavior... It just encourages more sub-prime behavior. Would you reward your child if they only did "part" of thier chores??? LOL

*dang I sound like such a goob huh?*

Reward as in how?
an extra hour of tv?
A nice hot bath?
A new dvd?

I never recomend a food reward. It just re-inforces sooo many bad habits with food itself! Never reward yourself with food, or with less workout.

I rewarded myself last night with a nice hot bath, and going to bed ultra early. LOL (being sick sucks)

Should I only reward myself when I have hit all my goals for the day or should I just reward myself everyday no matter whether I hit my goals or not.
