I would definatly say all of them... figure 8s, shimmies, hip drops. I can find that I can more my hips "out" more when I do mayas / fishes.

I love doing undulations because as others have said, great workout for the abs... beats crunches anyday lol.

What i still have trouble with is making my snake arms look good... i think my problem is get my arms loose enough to follow my shoulder movements.. gah!

I'm glad to say that i've almost mastered the shimmy and hip circle layering!!

Probably 3/4 and choo-choo shimmies for the cardio value, but for muscle strength it's a slow, controled Maya (downward snake hip).

I love figure 8s, and 'snakes'. I haven't really noticed myself looking any different yet, but my hips and stomach have more control, if that makes sense. :)

You're all laughing at me because I'm different. I laugh at you because you're all the same.

Figure 8's of course. They make me feel skinny already. Those belly rolls help too, but I still have to work on that move. Belly dancing really does make you more aware of every inch of your body in my opinion.

For me it is the chest figure eights. Especially those that Ms. Brice does. The slower and larger they are the more I hurt a couple hours later!! A good kind of hurt of course! LOL

Belly rolls for me! They have been great for my after-baby belly!

I love undulations, I've noticed my abs popping and some of my chest muscles. Definately strenghtens the core!

Shoulder shakes, snake arms, anything with arms. My teacher encourages us to maintain tension in our arms and I can feel the difference. emoticon

Figure 8s in all directions! They work the obliques and have really given me that 'vintage' belly dancer look of a pinched-in waist!

I can't say that I can pin point one move that has changed my body because I notice so much with belly dance from the renewed flexibility to core strength and muscle definition. However, I would have to say that I notice the most difference in my dance technique when I break moves down to their most simple motions. For instance with an up to down undulation I will focus on the circular motion of the upper body by itself and then the circular motion of the lower body then put them together. It really helps 'remind' my muscles what their independant function should be.

I find all the moves really have changed my body in some way. I certainly have much better body-awareness since I started Belly Dance. I am much more aware of my posture all the time. Other than that, I do find that the 3/4 Shimmy's really are a great thigh workout. The undulations and stomach rolls are great for the abs. And the whole things is awesome cardio.

Brightest blessings,
Susen

Probably the bellyroll. I still can't do them from the bottom up, but I really think they have made me work on my tummy muscles and realize that I have some darn good muscles under their protective layer of fat. *l*

I was wondering if any particular belly dance movement has had the biggest impact on your body. I have found that the chest circles and lifts/drops have really improved my posture. And those undulations! I still can't do them well, but I have noticed more ab control than I have ever had.

What have you noticed?
