The troupe is meeting again ... we all got keys to the dance studio .. today we practiced some of our old routines and just danced for 1.5 hours. It feels so good to be able to do this. I can remember when I couldn't last 30 minutes .. now, I'm able to go for a longer distance.

Next week we finish our Level 4 exam .. I'm hoping to be able to get the butterfly kick together enough to swim 15 yards cause I'll have passed the class and I'll be in Level 5 -- swimming!!!

I know what you mean about the heat ... I walk my dogs early in the morning while it's still cool.

90 min is a good start! 3x a week is good too!

I have not posted on this team in a while. My laptop at home modem has been blocked by something. Could that be a virus? Anyway, my weekly goals have been to exercise at least 90 mins a week. I hve my 60 in already, but I can do more than 90 mins. Last week I was over by 90 mins. I know I can do this. It's really hot here in Texas and it drains me sometimes. My goal still is to exercise consistently at least 3 times per week. I can do this. I love to move my body. Belly Dancing is in for today!!!
Blessings to all of you!!!

I'm back!!!

I found myself just losing myself to life again and now, I'm finally working on staying with dance.

I found a cheap studio that charges $15 an hour to rent and I figure that's only $5 more than when I'm with a teacher. And the neat thing is, some of my dance partners join me so the cost goes down even more!!

I discovered that I have to practice outside my home .. that I will go there and dance by myself and that's okay with me. I figure that over time, I'll begin to practice at home .. just allowing myself to flow right now.

I'm also working on dealing with my NOT GOOD ENOUGH self-talk. Not sure if any of you are going thru this; however, it's nasty! I don't do this good, I don't do that good. And worse, when I was heavier, I wasn't able to last long on the dance floor. I didn't realize I had written some really nasty thoughts THEY vs ME. Like I caught myself starting up one time because a couple of the girls were just following the leader to a routine the others were doing .. and I finally said ENOUGH and said .. that's how you learn .. you follow the leader and I caught myself following the leader Friday night!

Right now, I'm making myself go out and perform. I'm going to the studio once a week and I'm finding that I can dance for an hour now without knee pain or feeling "NOT ENOUGH". how awesome is that!

This week, I'm going to watch some tribal videos to learn some steps for the RenFest this Saturday. I may not know what I'm doing; however, I'm out there! Big body and all.

Oh yeah, I'm making my own choli ... using a simplicity pattern. I'm not sure how it's going to turn out .. so I'm making it from scrap material.

And don't you love it when you begin to see your belly changing as you work out and practice! I sure do!!

I did it! In January, I decided that I really needed to deal with the walls I kept bouncing off of when I attempted any of the goals under my Big Goal MENU PLANNING. So I decided to just focus for 45-days on this 1 goal with all sorts of little goals under it. And it worked!!!

I couldn't believe all the non-sense I was telling myself. I had to sit down and develop an eating time chart (no kidding) which I've been using off and on and it's working! I've had to sit down and figure out why I couldn't use Dr. Phil's menu's. That took some major time and energy and came up with quite a list. Like having to learn to cook 19 new dishes, try 19 different new foods, and buy all sorts of stuff. So I was able to come up with a new plan.

Well, the list can go on and on. And I met my goal of mastering MENU PLANNING by 3/1/08. Now, I'm just practicing all the stuff I learned. AND coming up with something new to do.

Have any of you guys ever done one of the fitness challenges in magazines like FITNESS, SELF, SHAPE? How did it go with you?

I did it!! My goal has been that every Friday, I put on some music and just dance to 3-4 songs .. and I DID!!! Today it's meeting the girls across town at someone's home that he's going to be selling but is vacant .. we get to use it as our dance studio for now!!! No overhead but the gasoline of getting us there!!!

I'm also getting back on track again. Got lost last week and finally just found the path again. At least it was a neat learning experience for me!

Don't worry about the scale .. it's not a true measure of what's going on inside your body.

Muscles weigh 140% more than fat .. so if the scale isn't moving, then you're building muscle which means you are upping your metabolism.

Give yourself a big pat on the back .. because muscle is what you are looking to gain.

My scale sat at 182.5 for 3 straight weeks before it finally showed -2.5 # loss --- and when I measure myself .. -6.75" overall body loss.

I'm really proud of you for holding on ..

I did pretty good foodwise. I'm in my range today and worked off 300 calories at the gym. I'm losing inches, but not losing any weight. Still, trying to stay positive and hoping the scale will cooperate eventually.

It's Monday and my habit is to pick me up, dust me off, and get back to eating healthy once again.

I really overate on Friday and Saturday. Friday because I went too long without eating and Saturday because I had finally lost weight and that nasty little voice told me it was okay to overeat! Ate 21xx calories on Saturday.

Sunday, I was able to cut back -- 1315; today it was 1755. Sunday was below my calorie range and that's okay because I had overeaten the day before. Today, I'm below my high range (1770).

I also walked the dogs today!! I'm hoping I can do it again tomorrow!

And so it begins .. have you ever noticed that when you see the scale go down and the inches coming off, you feel the need to "eat" ... yep, it's happening to me.

I know it's going on so I'm not doing to bad handling my WELL I'VE LOST WEIGHT SO I CAN HAVE ________. Good thing there's not something I've been craving.

I thought chocolate and I ate 1 pc of my mom's chocolate from her valentine box. That was enough!

And today, I fell again .. good thing I'm exercising and losing weight! My new muscles really saved the day. Isn't that neat to know .. that as you gain muscles you are giving your body the necessary flexibility to not hurt yourself. Yesterday, I fell forward .. only real damage is the little burn mark on my chin. My knees didn't get scratched at all.

Today, my scale says I weigh 180.00 -- yep, finally no more 182.5!!!

And I've lost inches everywhere except my neck! Total inches lost: 6.75"

I knew it .. I could see major changes in my body even though the scale wasn't recording it!

I've lost 2% body fat -- I'm now at 31%. My body fat went from 60.2#s to 55.8 ... and my lean muscle mass went from 122.3 to 124.8 -- I knew that was going to happen and that was the reason my scale wasn't moving. I was gaining muscles.

And gaining those new muscles means ... my body is burning up my fat faster. I'm so proud of me for finally working thru the "craziness" of not seeing the scale moving -- took me a couple of years .. however, now I know it's my buddy not my evil enemy!

Today, I've faltered ... and I just wasn't right in the head. I just wasn't thinking ... that's because someone went without breakfast and ended up eating a Wendy's 99 cents chicken sandwich with a coke float -- ate the ice cream, dumped the pop -- and ate the baked potatoe without butter or sour cream.

Then, because I've been eating healthy for so long, I crashed .. funny, now that I've been able to go long periods without sweets, I now see that one of the main reasons I wanted them was to make me sleep. No kidding!

So I figured ... I've been craving a beer ... so I had one ... it's been 3 hours now and I'm still nursing it. I've been wanting one for a while .. I'm not a beer drinker and I figure that the reason I'm craving is because I'm needing something from it.

So tomorrow, I'll wake up and dust me off and pick up my food plan where I left off yesterday, and go forward again. Sure is getting easier for me each time.

I'm glad you are feeling better at listening to your body and heeding it's cry.

I had to really experiment with a bunch of food plans before settling on Dr. Phil's Weight Loss Solutions:

BF: P, SC, D, Fr
L: P, 2CC, SC, D, Fr
D: P, 2CC, Fat

Atkins seemed to demanding, the pyramid didn't have the protein I found I craved (they said eat 1 svg a day -- I found I need 3 because of my body's need.

That's what I'm practicing now. The hard part has been adding complex carbs to my diet (green veggies) and cutting back on the starchy carbs (potatoes, bread).

What food plan are you using?

That does make me feel much better about eating that much when I'm really that hungry! I'm thinking the Biggest Loser Diet is probably geared towards people who have more than that last 20 lbs to lose.

So Susan, by eating the 1475 calories you were well within your calorie range .. how cool is that!!

Does that make you feel better about how much you ate yesterday?

And I find that there are days I'm going to eat less because I'm not as hungry. Usually the day after I've overeaten calories .. and I figure that my body is just doing it's own natural thing -- which is another WONDERFUL AHA!!

Think about it .. when we have reached our goal weight, we will be in sync with our bodies .. and instead of worrying about how much we've eaten or did we get our exercise today ... it will be something we do normally.

Okay .. had a major AHA moment last night!

I've been using stars to help me focus on my positives and to stop looking at what I'm not doing -- WELL!!

Last night I realized that I'm eating the 3 meals, 2 snacks so giving me stars for them isn't going to help me as much.

And at the same time, I realized I'm not following the portions for L & D -- yep again.

SO, I'm going to give me a star for:

1. when I met my exercise for the day
2. when I eat 3 meals, 2 snacks
3. when I follow the portions for each meal
4. when I stay within my calorie range 1450-1750

this really does seem to be working for me! I'm really glad I'm doing it ... by switching my thoughts to what I'm accomplishing, I feel more confident. How cool is that!!

Shomac - when my life gets totally out of control, I practice maintenance. I simply up my calories and then practice eating normally. It's not as easy as you think because we have such a nasty thought patterns going off -- especially if you've been dieting for years.

I use "stars" to help me see how I'm still accomplishing stuff .. isn't it awful how we all tend to beat ourselves up when we are surrounded with positive accomplishments!

Know that we are here for you ...

DUH Susan .. go figure ...

Babe, you're putting your body into shutdown mode. Anything lower than 1200 calories does that to everyone. That's because your body needs 1200 just to do it's normal behind the scenes job.

What does SP say you should be eating? My range is 1450-1750. And that's healthy. I'm giving my body extra calories / nutrients to keep her running healthy.

Losing weight is the easy part Susan -- it's learning to eat healthy and exercise 24/7 for the rest of your life.

So give your body and you a break and increase your calories so that you don't end up in the hospital because your body is shutting down on you.

This week, I'm just kinda getting THROUGH it. It's been terrible weather, my workload's been horrific, I've had a big disappointment/knockback to my confidence earlier this week (failed an audition for a dance troupe), I just found out this morning my best friend's had some devastating news and I'll need to go see her this evening, my boyfriend hates his new job and isn't coping well, and just to top it all off with a great big cherry it's my time of the month.....there's nothing there I can't cope with, but I'm a great big pile of stress, worry about the people I love, exhaustion and utterly FED UP WITH IT BEING BLEAK, WET, GREY, MISERABLE BLINKIN SCOTTISH WINTER this week.

Aims:
- Hang on in there and keep positive.

- Avoid over-indulging in comfort food or booze and keep one eye on my calorie allowance even if strictly calorie counting is a bit unrealistic till things calm down a bit.

- Keep in with my exercise regime, though work keeps interfering with that... hoping to get away and do a BodyBalance class at the gymn this lunchtime (mixture of pilates, yoga and tai chi), will do BodyPump tomorrow (lifting weights), and will fit in some walking and some dance /yoga DVDs at the weekend.

We all have weeks like this, and at these times I always try to focus on the Spark thing of just being CONSISTENT, even when life ISN'T.....

Sho (sorry whine over!)

My goal has been to eat between 1,000 - 1,200 calories a day, do my entire Ramp it Up! plus either the Slim & 6-Pack or Great Buns Guaranteed DVD six days this week, and get down to between 145 & 147 by Saturday. So far, I have achieved my exercise goals, but today was definitely a challenge! I did not want to do it - but, I did. (Yay!) I kinda went overboard eating today - 1,422 calories today.
I just seemed to be REALLY hungry.

Today, my goal was to do ABs. I selected a couple of exercises from Oxygen Mag to do and it took me awhile to work thru my head nonsense. I finally did them a little while ago.

I choose 7; however, I couldn't lift my butt off the ground 6" so it became a Reverse Crunch (hee hee) -- good thing it was on my list to do.

I did 1 set of 15 reps. My calories for today (at this moment is 1200) ... that leaves me about 200-300 calories I can still consume if I feel hungry tonite.

One of the best tools out there is to post your weekly goal for the week and then tell everyone how you did that day.

It's been working for me and it helps me to get the support and knowing that I'm committing to posting ups and downs, helps too!
