Last night was my second class and all I can say is ooowwiieee...lol I'm SO stiff. We were working with veils. It looked easy. It seemed easy. Until I put my arms down! We also practiced the camel walk and my abs are feeling that one!

The local fabric store had sheer curtain material on sale for $1.99/yd. I couldn't decide which one I liked so I bought 3 different gorgeous colors. Last night there was a bit of "veil envy" as we were all ooohing and ahhhing over each other's veils. There were two beautiful colors other women got at the same fabric store, which I missed. Now I HAVE to go back there.

HELP!! I'm getting hooked! LOL

Ha ha ha, that's a good one DL... I'll have to remember that!!! I have a friend who lost about 75 lbs, an instructor at the local college. She was walking around the classroom... you know... just keeping moving, when she accidentally stepped on this student's foot. Knowing he was going to say something sarcastic, as she was still about 40 lbs from her goal, she said, "Ooops... and aren't you lucky that I didn't do that 75 lbs ago, cause that'a really hurt then."

I really like the idea of improving my posture. I also like that this strengthens your tummy muscles and core. I've never had a strong tummy. Now I just have rolls. ha But hopefully not for long!

I love sparkspeople already!

Well, congrats and color me green with envy... I've missed my last three classes just due to life in general. I love that feeling after a workshop... the good sore. Like Darthlaurie, class doesn't get me much anymore, but those workshops... its good to know that under the extra weight, there is an incredible body waiting to come screaming out!!! emoticon

I have been in belly dance for a couple of months now. I work at the dance posture on a daily basis and am starting to find that I am having good posture! I am so jazzed! my stomach still has this thing going on with it, but it feels strong, and my spine is finally starting to feel stronger. I was a fire fighter at one time, and I had a strong back. its nice to be getting that feeling back! Ladies....I think we are going to make it!!!!!!

The term ohdeer came from when I was doing deer research. When working with deer (or any mammal) it seemed like everytime I would look up it was OH-DEAR! thus it got turned in OHDEER so it has just stuck with me.

I am new to this forum and also new to belly dancing. I had my first class last Wednesday. It was so much fun! I signed up with 3 of my friends (was slightly pressured...oh come on...it'll be fun) AND IT WAS!) I was a bit nervous but our instructor is wonderful.

We did some tummy exercises...like sucking in 1", 2" 3"..to the spine... my tummy was sore but a "good sore". Then we learned how to "stand correctly" and how to position our arms...and that the knees do most of the work. My quads were sore too!

This is a good thing! I love it already!!

Anyway, Welcome FAE1964.

I'm so glad you had a great time! You'll rediscover all those muscles you never knew you had whenever you push yourself. I'm rarely sore after class, but go to a workshop for a day and I'm really sore! LOL

Last night was my first Belly Dancing class. The instructor is awesome and I had a great time. We learned quite a lot and even got to do a couple of short dances at the end of class using the moves we learned.

Even before bed last night I could feel my butt muscles singing from the workout. This morning my husband rolled over in bed, which made the mattress move ever so slightly, which made my waist cry out, "oooowwweeee". It's fine now, it just needed a little stretch.

I can't wait for next week's class!
