Maree, glad your cousin is able to relax now - wishing Bob a speedy recovery. Your deadlifts are impressive!!

Toni, have you looked at MyFitnessPal.com? They have both. The community feature seems, well, very boring compared to what we've had with SP.

Bess, that sounds like a great trip, down to the end of the river. Fish tacos are always great!

Cindy, that's great that your sister is recuperated from her accident and has a new (to her) vehicle!!!

Kate, I hope things calm down for you so you can relax. And it's a good thing you have neighbors who listen to you vent!

Donna, some people have a bit of a reaction a day or two after that 2nd shot, so you might find that two feel a bit sick. Hope you don't, but be prepared.

Nell, you sound so much better! Do you feel better?

NancyAnne, we're still pursuing rentals - didn't get the one we'd hoped to get though. My mother ended up in a care facility, once my father couldn't take care of her any longer - and it almost seemed to be a relief to her. She stopped recognizing home, so I guess being in a new place where people took care of everything seemed like a place she was willing to stay.

Sue, I'm so sorry about your cousin - what a shock! I hope your SIL improves quickly - and yes, that's a lot all at once!!!

Kellie, I hope you can get to sleep early and have a quiet night. Are you on call all week?

Sunny, that sounds like a nice day!

Nothing exciting here - we had lunch at our favorite bagel place, though they aren't back to fully open, we had to order at the door and then pick up at the other door. No one was allowed inside. College town - so people are taking the precautions seriously.

I took a walk around town while DH went to the bank and such, then dropped him off. I went to Macy's to find a new pair of shorts - definitely down a size, always nice! But they only had colors I didn't want, so I had to come home and order them.

Exciting life here, right? But I did get about 3 miles of walking going from end to end of the mall and back.

Today started with an early dr appointment, then Session at the gym, followed by going through my SP pages, emails, blogs, and trying to decide what to keep. After lunch I was off to do some shopping for a couple more pairs of shorts because Summer is here. A couple loads of laundry done, then it was dinner and we just had a lovely evening swim in the pool.

There are still piles of laundry to do and a to do list that is not even started. I plan to get more done tomorrow and Saturday. Somehow the day ends a lot sooner that I expect or plan for. Maybe I need yo move a little faster.

KELLIE I hate interrupted sleep may be it will be better tonight.

Maree - I can now enjoy home sweet home - I think - for a few days now that I got in all my running around done today - Amazon return and a trip to my favourite grocery store to stock up on a few items I like to have on hand. So glad that your cousin can feel more relieved now with the surgery done on her hubby. I got the impression when I read SparkGuy's blog that the 360 site was still a work in progress and I suspect that they'll try to have most features up and running by the time this site shuts down.

Toni - I'm trying out both MyFitnessPal and LoseIt to see what I like best. I only went to Lose it last night when I discovered that there's a group of former SP members there so I thought I'd check it out. I haven't checked out the MFP community yet. Both are available either as a phone app or one can join through their web sites. Personally I find it less fiddly to enter food on my computer. I kept getting items under the wrong meal on MFP but can move them to the appropriate meal much like we can here on SP when using the computer. Can probably do it on the phone too but I figured it out on my computer.

Bess - It's great to be home - just need to get into my bed a bit earlier tonight! It sounds like you found much to fuel your creative soul on your outing yesterday! I hope that you get the rain that you need.

Cindy - emoticon - And I'm hoping that tomorrow and the next two days I actually DO get to stay at home! Today was a bit of a running and errand day! I hope that you're able to settle on a phone. I'd be lost without mine! emoticon - You and your sister will get to have that visit after all! Things always happen for a reason!

Kate - Thank you and I'm glad that you have good neighbours who can help you when you're angry and stressed and just need to vent. Not everyone would do that/

Donna - emoticon on getting that second shot! They are bumping up dates for second shots here too but more in the "hot spots" or for those with medical conditions who should be fully vaccinated. I still think hubby and I will get to book our second shots so that they occur sooner than they are currently scheduled. I too will not be going anywhere - until I have to!

Nell - Yes we will all have to move away from the familiar and deal with those learning curves that will help us to stay in touch or keep tracking nutrition and exercise in one way or another. Every time I spin the wheel I wonder why I bother but I'll probably keep my current streak going until the end - no where near as long as Maree's

Nancy Anne - I do hope for both your mom's and your sake that she has no complications and all goes smoothly with her procedure. Maybe the docs can convince her to get back on a CPAP machine. My BIL sure sees the value in using his - like being able to drive himself - and at the moment, my sister - places that he/they want/need to go. Mom was starting to decline a year ago but still was with it much of the time. I was surprised at the difference between when I was up there in December and when I returned in January. Hubby I think was a bit shocked at what he saw yesterday because he hasn't seen her since late last fall - a good 6 months ago.

Made it here earlier tonight but even at that got interrupted by a phone call although really a phone call from my daughter is never an interruption. She called me earlier when I was just getting ready to jump in the shower before going to my blood donor appointment so I didn't have much time to chat then. Last night my sister called me with news that one of our younger cousins - only in his mid 50s - had collapsed on the street in the town where he lives (about 45 minutes from here) and passed away suddenly. It was quite a shocker! He had never married so left no wife/children behind. I saw him rarely - usually at the family reunions held every two years but I'm not sure he was at the last one two years ago. This morning I got a text telling me that my brother had left to take his DW (who does daily dialysis) to the hospital - actually the one just a five minute walk from us - because she was ill. Had she called an ambulance she would have gone to the hospital close to them THEN been sent down here so it was faster for my brother to get her there. She has peritonitis but was given an antibiotic and sent home. A nurse will be looking in on her since my brother won't be there. I'm sure he'll be checking up on her frequently and more than anxious to get home again on Monday. I wasn't sure if I'd have to return to mom's sooner but I guess for now, I can remain at home and relax. Seems it never rains but it pours!

I had to many things in my plate and the stress made me blow up. I kept getting mad with things i should have been able to handle. My neighbor let me talk and told me I was right and let me be angry and I just released the anger. Then I could look at I logically to determine what I really wanted. This meant backing down and accepting what I had been fighting. It would take too long to explain.

Iím another one who both spun the wheel daily and plans to stay here until it is no longer possible.

I finally had a chance to read Chris ďSpark GuyísĒ blog about the change. I get it, but it makes me sad. Iím reserving judgement on whether Iíll join SparkAmerica or not. Aside from this group, the only other things I ever occasionally used there were the trackers. There are other trackers online, so not sure thatís motivation enough for me. And, Iíd really miss our international friends.

Phebe- Unless mom runs into serious complications, the plan is not currently for me to go back. Believe it or not, this valve repair sheís getting goes in through the femoral artery. Itís 1-3 nights in the hospital then 3-4 days of recovery at home. 2 weeks after that she should be up and running again. So right now my sister just plans on staying through July 7th. Weíll see what momís memory does. We might end up having to sell her mobile home to pay for memory care. (Youíd be shocked at what a 50 year-old mobile home in good condition in a prime location gets in Benicia, California!) If that happens, Iíll have to come out to help with all the moving parts. Mom would hate it if that happened- Sheís told me that if she has to wind up in ďone of those placesĒ to just shoot her. emoticon
Did you find a rental?

Sue- Iím so sorry about your momís rapid decline. Iíll be praying for your brotherís safetyÖ.. Or maybe not. emoticon
Iím glad to hear that about your BI and the CPAP. Perhaps if they can get Mom back on one her memory will improve.

Maree- Your consistency on this site is truly impressive!

Bess- It did feel a little funny coming here instead of our last home. As soon as I walked in I thought ďWhatís that smell?Ē, then realized itís new house smell. emoticon One interesting thing that happened upon my return is that Iím actually HAPPY to be here. The truth is that I was mourning the loss of the last house- Itís my favorite house Iíve lived in, ever. I mourned itís proximity to a friend 3 doors down, the trees and gorgeous huge chunks of limestone in the backyard, the landscaping, the house itself. I really did love that house. But I also knew it wasnít going to be a permanent solution for Sam and BJ over the rest of their lives. I was surprised to find out I was less than enthused after weíd moved in and wondering if weíd made a mistake. But since coming back from California, I find Iím finally falling in love with it.
Your day yesterday sounds simply lovely!

Cindy- The Spark nutrition counter does indeed count fiber. I remember it yelling at me that I was getting too much of both it and protein back in my cutting diet days.
Iíve found that people at cell-phone stores LOVE explaining how to use the phones! Their love of phones is probably why they both applied and were hired at the establishment.
Rejoicing with you that your sisterís crisis worked out for good. We know who the Author of that is. emoticon

Kate- What were you so angry about? Did I miss something? Whatever it is, Iím glad youíre getting over it.

Today I got a much-needed haircut. It had only been 6 or so weeks, but you couldnít really call them ďbangsĒ anymore- More like oddly short pieces of hair around my face. I had her heavily texturize the new bangs and add more layers at the very bottom- I love it! Also bought myself a bottle of shampoo from the salon. Itís expensive for the amount, but I use very little shampoo these days with my post-menopause-less-active-oil-glands and the discovery of dry shampoo. It should last me a long time.

Iíd better get going. I planned simple chicken salads for dinner and probably need to get going on those.

Have a blessed rest-of-your Thursday, everyone!

I keep spinning the wheel, too, I've just done it for so long I might as well hang on to the bitter end.

I can't figure out how to reply to the googlegroup, either. It will be a learning curve I suppose. I am looking forward to seeing what Spark 360 or whatever they call it turns out to be.

Congrats on that second shot Donna! Two weeks from now you will be free!

This is my get out of jail day. I had my second shot this morning and feel so relieved. In another few weeks life should feel more normal.

Kate good to hear you are feeling better. I donít think you told us why you were angry but good for your neighbour for being there for you.

I too have lots of goodie points but not sure if I will get around to using them and I not bothering to spin the wheel anymore. It was silly wasnít it but I did it every day. I was heading into a two year streak.

I am in the Google group but I am having trouble finding out how to reply to the daily chat.

I will stay here to the end too. I enjoy this morning chat with you ladiesÖ.

I was out of control angry. A neighbor talked me down and Iím doing better. Itís like when it rains it pours.

Fairhaven Iím glad it all ended well for your sister.

Maree and Bess I agree Iíll stay until the end.

Nancyanne and Sue Iím glad you are home safely.

Phebess sorry about the rental.

Maree that is an impressive streak. I agree about using your points, so I too am sending gifts. The more expensive the better because Iíve got around a 100,000 points to spend.

Itís been a long couple of days dealing with stressors and last night I collapsed and slept well. Iím finally calming down,

Good Thursday morning, friends!

Nancyanne and Sue, so glad you both made it home safely!
And Nell, good to hear the Cdiff is clearing up. Hopefully you can get some good sleep soon. Those antibiotics are life savers, but sure do have some nasty side effects!

Maree, wow, what a long streak!!! That is so impressive! Thank you for your commitment to getting this thread started each and every morning. We all appreciate that so much! I, too, will continue posting here till the bitter end, and by then hopefully we'll have another way decided on so we can keep in touch.

The Atkins site has the same exercise tracker, a point wheel to spin, and a nutrition tracker that looks just like the one I used to use on SP, except that it also calculates Net Carbs and fiber. Can't remember if the regular SP one has the fiber or not. However, I'm very curious if they'll still work after SP shuts down, since they say "powered by SparkPeople." I think I'll try to get an answer to that question today.

Well, I went to the AT&T store in town today, hoping to transact business and get the same offers I got from Customer Care over the phone. But no, they aren't authorized to give away free iPhones at the store. They said that for that kind of thing I'd have to do it through Customer Care. Rats! However, they did say they'd be willing to help me if I get an iPhone and need some help learning how to use it. And I can turn in the old phones my niece and nephew gave us and get credit on my bill. Also, I looked up some uTube videos about using an iPhone SE, and you're so right, Bess! There are tons of tutorial videos out there! I was also waffling about whether to stay with AT&T or go back to Verizon, but I saw online that AT&T just merged with (or bought out) Verizon, so I guess that's a moot point. Still wondering if I'd save more, but still get decent service, with one of the other companies, like T-Mobile or Consumer Cellular...

Last night I got some texts (and photos!) from my very happy and excited sister. The accident she had actually turned out to be a sort of blessing in disguise. She has recovered from all physical issues caused by the accident, and the insurance payout almost completely covered the cost of a minivan 3 years newer than her wrecked car, and with 100,000 less miles on it. And she still gets to make her trip out here in August. So thankful that all worked out.

Well, it's after 6 so I'm on borrowed time here, and better sign off. Have a great day, each and every one of you!

Cindy

Hello my friends. I can't believe it's Thursday already - this week is zipping by.

Maree - I plan to keep posting here till the site goes down too. Not sure if I'll bother with giving away goodie points but wouldn't it be fun if we could all take that cruise one day in the flesh? At the same time? LOL.

Toni - I am answering spark mail and posting here but that's all I'm bothering with. I hope you find a free combined tracker.

Sue - so glad you're home safe and sound. Enjoy those nights in your own bed

Kellie - I can't help pitying the tech people who work all day and then have to be on call all night. You guys are real heroines.

Phebess - too bad about the rental - I hope you settle in soon with just the kind of space you like.

Nancyanne - Whew. glad you are at home too and with good news about your mama's surgery. I still have y'all in my prayers. Did it feel strange to come home to the new house instead of the old one?

Sunny - oh that bird class sounds like something I would enjoy. And a quiet swimming pool - though I'm one of those grownups who tosses balls around and splashes. I've always got some sort of water squirting toy. I guess I never did grow up.

Nell - at last. Just hearing that your infection is subsiding is such a relief. When my parents were hospitalized with c-diff we had to wear hazmat suits to visit them. I hope you round the bend on these illnesses and start gaining weight and strength again.

Kate - I'm always wiped out after a long trip to a convention. Rest and water - that's the best treatment for you.

Donna - once you shunt the emails to their own folder you can just delete them in bulk at any point - you don't HAVE to read them. LOL - nope. not mandatory.

Cindy - I don't really think it did float in - I think someone was trying to encroach. But there - that's just me. We'll see how it pans out. Hope you find the phone you like. And remember - be gentle with yourself. There really is a learning curve. And go online when you can't figure out what to do - just google "How do I answer my new i-phone?" or something like that. YOu'll get better directions than the manual that comes with the phone.

Yoo Hoos to everyone else on the team.

Yesterday DH took me down to the mouth of the river we live on - maybe 60 miles away - and we walked a 2 mile beach that's a wildlife preservation site (at the very end) You can tell this used to be forested land because there are so many dead trees right in the water - all covered with some sort of beach grass. The whole place looked like something out of fairyland or The Lord of the Rings. So I took lots of photos so I could draw them as fairy homes. In my abundant spare time!

It was beastly hot though and we drove up and down all the curvy backroads of Mathews County, stopping finally at a Mexican restaurant in the county seat. I love it when they serve fish tacos - though usually too many of them. I brought one home for lunch today. The lower counties got the scattered showers yesterday, drat them. I hope we get them today. When it's 90 degrees - you really need rain.

Cheers to you all.

Good morning!

Slept well and long, beautiful dreams. Nice way to wake up!

I took the bold step of not spinning that darned wheel this morning. As much as it said to myself, Iím here, I can let that one go. I do feel like Iím in a hotel after a conference is over and all thatís left is a stray paper cup on the floorÖ Except for this team which is still occupying prime space in my day!

Iím looking for a combined food and fitness tracker. Has anyone discovered something good?

Have a wonderful day, all. Iíll check in later to see whatís up.

Good morning! Friday Eve!

I had a sleep interruption, was up for a couple of hours around midnight, so I read through the posts and started giving some goodies to use up my 338,000+ Sparkpoints (great idea, Toni)! There was a banner about the SP Closing above my Start page that I clicked on and it has updates. Said they would be adding a food tracker and an alumni group. I guess it's evolving.

Thanks for info each of you are sharing and I'm relieved to have all of your email addresses so I know we can stay connected no matter what happens with SP. My plan is to keep posting here until the end.

My cousin texted me yesterday that she finally slept because she actually felt Bob had a chance. She does not scare easily, or even reach out unless it's really serious. With the 3 heart stents, she has hope. I can't thank you all enough for your prayers and good wishes. I really feel it made the difference.

Funny, I had told DD to log in for me if something ever happened to me as I didn't want to lose my streak, I'm at 2395 days of consecutively logging in and 528 weeks of exercise (over 10 yrs). emoticon

I'll have to tell DH about the duck blind, Bess! He and his buddies built their blind using a pontoon platform. They placed it in one of the islands when the River level was high, so it is currently landlocked. But it is registered with the Dept of Conservation and they have that spot for 3 yrs. I'm sure the River will rise again if they want to move it. Hope you find the owner!

Nancy Anne, so nice to see your picture again! It wasn't showing up previously. Hoping and praying for the best for your mom.

Cicadas are coming to Illinois, but are not predicted to come to our county.

Nell, you sound a bit better and hope that treatment makes a difference.

How is the golf game going, Donna. I love the vision of you out on greens, as we all remember how much pain you used to have that kept you home.

Sue, I have an appointment to donate blood Friday morning AFTER I'm done retesting for my one rep Max's. I'm sure you're enjoying Home Sweet Home (you, too, Nancy Anne)!

Did you find a new cellphone, Cindy? Android or IPhone seems to be the biggest decision.

Kate, rest up as you need and know we're thinking of you. Glad you popped in.

Yikes I have got to get this posted! Oh, I hit my all time PR for deadlifts yesterday, 163. I attempted 165.5 twice, got it off the floor, but just couldn't stand it up!

Hope all have a great day and stay healthy!
