Toni, what a nice workman to schlep the heavy bags for you!

Bess, beach time!!!!

Nell, welcome home, and I hope your meds kick in soon so you feel better!

Cindy, hope that migraine goes away. And I'm planning to write the manatee blog as soon as I finish here!

Donna, do you know the reason for the blackout? No elevator could be a big problem!

Nicole, DH and I gave up having a permanent residence and were travelling for the past 8 or 9 years. We were in Peru when things shut down, and managed to get an evacuation flight to the US east coast. Spent the summer near his brother and wife in New Jersey, and rented a house near St Augustine FL for the winter - we'll leave in about 2 or 3 weeks. But we took a 3 day trip to Homosassa Springs in western FL to see the manatees. We have a travel blog, and I always put a link in my SP blog. (Cute doggie!)

Sue, thanks for clarifying!!! Your sister having the knee replacement makes so much more sense! The first month is really rough, but after that the pain isn't bad and the walking is much easier. (If she can cook and freeze meals ahead of time, and do laundry the day before the surgery, it helps as well!)

Pretty day today, sunny and in the low 80s. Short walk, I'm trying to finish projects before we go. Afghan, painting, and the blog - not necessarily in that order. Also cooking and eating down the fridge and pantry. As well as getting rid of some of the clothing that has gotten too big (always a fun thing to get rid of!).

Sue we are going to look at hybrids but not sure what we will finally decide on. It depends on price and availability. We ended up not going as we had a partial power blackout. The elevator is not working as I was concerned hubby would not be able to climb back up to our condo when we got back home. We are in no rush so tomorrow is fine. I ended up doing some wash and switching our coat closet from the heavy winter jackets to lighter wear. That get me occupied.for awhile.

Phebess - Sorry if my comment was misleading - it is my sister who is having the knee replacement surgery. I'll be going to mom's for a couple or weeks to care for her while my sister is in the hospital (probably a couple of nights) and dealing with her early recovery so that she doesn't have to deal with going up and down stairs several times a day to care for mom. I suspect that I might do a bit of running for my sister and BIL too while I'm there - possibly some grocery shopping although she can order and have groceries delivered, but mainly I'll be there to care for mom.

Maree - I suspect that a lot of people will be happy to continue working from home if it is convenient enough and they prefer to do so after things get back to "normal" although "normal" may look very different from what it did before.

Toni - Sounds like you had a productive day, and that would be a lovely spring day!

Bess - Enjoy the day!

Nell - I hope that you didn't come home too soon and meds along with nourishing food will help you feel well quickly.

Cindy - Thanks. I'm not sure how much distance driving BIL will do, but being able to run short errands and maybe get my sister to and from PT will be a help. Our previous home had a half acre lot, not much garden on it or trees aside from what we planted because it had been a farmer's field - and hubby used to need about 3 hours to cut it without a riding mower. We have less than half that amount of grass now although we do have mature trees to get around, and hubby has the lawn cut now. Three guys show up with a riding mower, push mower and snippers and have it done in about 20-25 minutes. I do hope that the meds stave off the migraine so you aren't dealing with that again.

Donna - I hope that the trip to Costco goes smoothly. Our large stores are down to 25% capacity only at the moment so I'm sure hubby will not want to make a trip to our local store any time soon. Are you going looking for hybrid cars?

emoticon Nicole - To give you a bit of background, my mom is 99 - heading to 100 in August of this year - and still lives in her own home because my sister and BIL also share the home with her and care for many of her needs She has developed increasing dementia though over the past 18 months and as it is stressful for my sister, I have been making monthly trips up there to give her some respite for a few days. My BIL had some health problems that cropped up (aside from needing back surgery) last year which have been resolved with the use of the CPAP machine which he's had for about 6 months now. The sleep doctor recommended that his driver's licence be withdrawn temporarily but he'll have that back soon. My sister is to have knee replacement surgery a month from today so I'll be going to stay for a couple of weeks to care for mom to help her out. My brother, who lives closer does go to spend a night with mom from time to time when my sister needs a little break. I'm kind of a walk by myself person too - when my daughter was here off and on last summer and we went walking on the trail, she had a hard time keeping up with me and my hubby would slow me down considerably! Having some music going while exercising is great - especially walking - but I don't often do that on the trail for various reasons. You have a very cute pup there! emoticon on all the positive changes that have happened because of your weight loss! That's emoticon

Pretty quiet day here, Getting up a bit late and hubby's necessity to eat and get out of the house to have our winter tires taken off this morning kept me from getting to some of my kitchen chores and getting in my morning workout. On a "normal" pre-pandemic Wednesday that would have been a problem but not so when I have nothing going on so the workout got pushed to early this afternoon. All the snow that fell didn't make it this far north - all stayed in the areas further south which sounds like a paradox. Instead we've gone from sun/cloud to nice bright sunshine and the temp has gone up, although it's still below normal and it's windy. I'm sure the white stuff in the south will disappear quickly as we get back to more "normal" spring temps. Was happy after not being on the scales for five days because of being away, to see a loss this morning. Eating and exercise are usually not entirely to plan when I'm at mom's so I'm happy when I maintain. A nice loss was a bonus! emoticon It also gets me closer (less than 2 pounds) to where I want to "hang out" for a while with my weight.

Have a good rest of the day everyone!

Nicole wonderful news from your doctor. You must be doing something right to get such a good report. Paying attention to our diet snd exercising is so important and when it shows up on our medical reports it is even better.

Your pup is so cute. I sure miss having a dog but I have enough on my plate so I have to be content with enjoying our neighbours dogs

Good for you for doing so well with your challenges. A few of us here do the 5% Challenge so we know it can get busy.

Good morning!

I just got back from the doctor. I am cured of my kidney disease and my cholesterol has gone down a bit. So generally good news! I am still working on lifestyle changes and I am looking forward to my next blood work and will hopefully continue to see positive changes.

It is shaping up to be a beautiful day here in FL! The heat is around the corner but for the moment it is at bay.

emoticon Maree - Here in FL we are always covering our plants. Have you considered adding sheets to your arsenal? What kind of classes is your DH taking? Sorry to hear he hasn't been able to take advantage of the hunting season as usual. I am also sorry to hear that you have had to bear the brunt of his irritation! HA!

emoticon Toni - Congrats on getting your weeding done. Were you able to find your mulch? I haven’t read ahead so I am hoping to find out as I read on. 10k weeding - WTG!!! I am a fitbit girl and a SP BLC Challenge girl. I have not been getting my walking in during the BLC break. I really need to put some focus on it.

emoticon Bess - Your property sounds lovely but I am sure it is a lot to care for! I would love to have a river I could walk to! I’d love to see pictures especially with the spring upon us!

emoticon Econlady - Please forgive me, I am new here and don’t know names yet. Is cookie decorating your vocation? I can totally understand becoming board with artistic type things. I love the arts and enjoy crafting. I find, though, that once I have done something I get bored and move onto something new. I hope you can figure out what your next endeavor will be and that you sleep peacefully at night!

emoticon Cindy - Ugg… computer troubles! I hope you are back up and running soon!

emoticon Nell - Thank you for the “High fives”! I still have about 10-13 lbs to lose but I am hoping that I will be close at the end of the next BLC challenge! I lost 14 lbs last challenge so there is a good chance I will be able to do it again. I am mindful, though, that weight loss can slow down as we get closer to our goals. I am very optimistic though! I have been looking into dancing for fitness. I will have to check out your “Shine Dance Fitness” videos!

emoticon Nancy Anne - It is good to hear that I am not the only one here needing to lose weight yet. BTW, “friendly girls who like catching up with each other daily” sounds like my cup of tea! I am looking forward to getting to know all of you. Once BLC starts on May 5th I will be pretty scarce here but I will definitely be checking in on occasion. My husband recently bought a riding mower as well. What a difference it has made for him! Wooo Hooo on getting the space for your office/sewing room! Your story about your dog having to get used to being off leash made me laugh. I have a dog who is a big part of my life. I also run a dog meetup group so you will probably find me chatting about dogs a bit. Lol! What is your dog’s name and what is his breed? I’d love to see a picture! I have always had big dogs but my dog now is only 12 lbs. I didn’t realize that I would enjoy a small dog as much as I do. Go figure! She is an official Mutt-A-Doodle. I am looking forward to hearing more about the new home!

My pup - Bae

emoticon Nell - Oh my! It sounds like you are going through a lot! I chuckled when I read they gave you Percocet when you weren’t okayed for the pepcid. LOL! Medical hoops can really create havoc can’t they? I hope you are able to go home and get a shower soon, I am sure that will make for great strides in feeling better.

emoticon Donna - Thank you for the “Welcome”! Glad you have had some “glorious days”! Were you able to get your remaining outdoor work done?

emoticon Lins - I can relate to stormy weather! Here in FL we have recently gotten a LOT of rain. Today is sunny and beautiful though. It is a welcome change for sure!

emoticon Sue - I am glad you made it home safe and sound. It sounds as though you are going through a season of family illnesses of one sort or another. Your family sounds wonderfully supportive and like you all are good at supporting one another. That is awesome! I hope everyone returns to health soon and that your BIL gets his license back post haste!

emoticon Phebess - Whoop for fresh haircuts! What blog posts do you do and where are you located that you are able to get photos of manatees? I laughed at how you and you siblings opted to ride with your mom because she always got lost! I reminded me of my mom who, when we got lost, would always say “we are on an adventure”. Isn’t great how moms can make even difficult times magic? I have tried to pass that magic along to my children. We have had many “adventures”, lol!

emoticon Maree - Isn’t crazy how the pandemic has changed so much of our previously normal lives? I am glad you got the change of venue by going into work yesterday. Sometimes we just need to get out. I hope your plants survive the cold weather well. I always figured that if a plant doesn’t survive then it is not the plant for me! HA! Most of the time, when our plants don’t do well in a freeze, they come back even stronger.

emoticon Toni - I like your use of “Bluebird Day” for those wonderful spring days! Yay! You found your mulch! So glad you didn’t leave us in suspense, lol! Fresh asparagus sounds delectable!

emoticon Bess - How nice that you have a lovely day with beloved friends today! Your sunrise sounds as though it was truly awesome.

emoticon Nell - I am glad to hear you made it home, but sorry to hear you are still feeling crummy. Were you able to get your shower?

emoticon Cindy - I too enjoy walking by myself especially if I am listening to some upbeat music. It can do wonders for me. Of course, company is nice too. Prayers for your migraines staying at a minimum. I deal with migraines as well so I can relate.

emoticon Donna - Enjoy your walking break. I love to walk but occasionally have to curtail it when my planters facetious acts up so I can understand. I hope you get all your errands done today. What kind of car are you looking for?

I have started the 30 day minimalist challenge. My first day was yesterday. Since I am actually supposed to start on the first of a month I am using the last days of April to get a headstart on getting rid of stuff. I certainly have enough stuff!

What a wonderful chatty bunch you all are! I am looking forward to getting to know all of you! Have a wonderful day today!

Hugs!
Nicole

Morning all, as Cindy commented we are still enjoying amazing weather but rain is coming soon so I need to enjoy every moment. I just hope the rain does not stick around for too long.

Maree it must feel strange going into the office with so few people there. It really is amazing how people have adapted to working from home. I wonder how it would be for new hires though.

Bess lucky you for being in such a wonderful place right now. Enjoy your little holiday.

Toni, I would love to have asparagus right from my own garden. I can just imagine how tasty it is compared to store bought. Glad you found your mulch.

Cindy definitely prayers going your way that headache doesn’t developed into a full blown migraine. I went out for a short walk last evening too. It is just so nice out there. I had done my long walk in the morning so this was just a bonus.

Nell good news you are home but you sure don’t sound like you are feeling very well. I think you need someone to cook some delicious nourishing food for you. Hopefully you can find something that appeals to you and doesn’t require a lot of work to prepare.

Today I have to go to Costco and maybe if Dh doesn’t sleep too much we will go and look at cars. I may have to turn it into two trips. We will see. I don’t think I will be walking today. My legs could use a break.

Good Wednesday morning.

Nell, I'm glad you were able to come home, and hope the oral meds do their job quickly and you get to feeling better! And that you find some food that is appealing and nourishing!

Toni, sounds like a wonderful day you have for working outside. I guess you didn't get the snow there, huh? My sis in KS sent a photo of her white yard (with a pink blooming tree in it) yesterday. Our own beautiful weather is about to get rainy, but they haven't said anything about snow, thankfully.

Bess, I'm trying not to be too envious of your time at the beach with good friends. It just sounds so delightful!

Phebess, can't wait to see those manatee photos and read your blog! And traveling without a plan is hard for me, but it's true that some of the most fun memories come from times when unexpected stuff happens.

Sue, so glad you made it safely home, and that your stay with your mama went pretty well. I hope your sister's surgery goes well, and good that her hubby will be able to drive again by then.

Maree, I hope you can continue to work from home when you'd prefer to. Cutting out the commute time (and "primping" time!) sure is a boon. And, do you do crossfit EVERY day? I don't know where you get all that energy!

Yesterday was one of those days when I didn't find the time for a walk or exercise (although my days are full of activity, I'm not exactly a couch potato, lol.) So after dinner and dishes, I took a walk before settling down to watch a show with DH. He didn't come with me, as he'd walked earlier in the day, plus doing hard physical labor all afternoon. I didn't mind having a bit of quiet alone time. And Nancyanne, I'm SO glad my DH has a riding mower, and I'm sure you'll be glad yours does, too! An acre is a lot to mow on foot, and while it does burn a lot of calories, it also takes a lot of time. He loves mowing now that he has it!

Well, I am thinking I'd better go take one of my headache pills because I have that "migraine is coming on" feeling. Rats! I was hoping this month would not be a two-migraine month, what with my birthday coming up on Friday. Maybe some prayers that this one would not develop into a 3-day sucker like the one I had earlier this month? Thanks!

And blessings on you all! Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Cindy

Just stopping by for now. I came home last night. I felt OK when I left, but I'm feeling bad this morning. I started the oral prednisone this morning after 48 hours of IV, hopefully I will feel better. I'm hoping that eating will help, I sure didn't eat much of the cold food they gave me, I'm hungry. My son will take me to the store this morning for food that sounds good, not much does right now.

Good morning!

It was one glorious day yesterday in Virginia. What I call a ‘bluebird day.’ Temps in the high sixties, blue sky, sweet spring. I found my mulch and when I got home a workman here for another reason volunteered to throw the heavy bags onto the area where I needed them. A delightful gift. I also weeded and added come compost to my asparagus bed that is continuing to yield well. In the growing season they pop up almost like pop corn...inches in hours. So we had grilled salmon and asparagus last night. Wonderful.

I’m running off to yoga class this morning and then heading back to the lake. Planning to make it an active day with a walk later too.

Good morning!

Working in the office was good yesterday. Only one other person in with me, though, so certainly nothing like it was pre-pandemic. The downside is that I'm set up to work at home; my docking station, large monitor, keyboard etc is here, so when I go into the office, I'm working with a very small laptop screen and keyboard. I think working from home is more productive as I don't spend time commuting, primping, etc., all the obvious advantages of being at home. I doubt I will travel like I used to do.

I didn't sleep well, up from midnight to 2:00, so although I will go into the office today, I'm not sure I will stay very late (I'll be the only one there today). I woke up with concern about my plants surviving the freeze. I covered them, but not sure I did so adequately. It snowed yesterday but it's already melted. I'll uncover them after class but will have to cover them again tonight with below freezing temperatures again.

Glad to see you're feeling a bit better, Nell. Good to hear from you, Kellie. And welcome to the new posters and those who pop in to read without posting.

Lots of positive news in yesterday's posts! Yaay! Time to prepare house for the cleaning lady and dress for crossfit class. Hope all have a great day and stay healthy!
