Finally got my hair cut, and it looks good! I may have to invest in the soft hold mousse stuff she used, but I'll see how my hair is over the next few days.

Then spent much of the day dealing the the photos of the manatees - so hopefully will finish the blog post tomorrow.

Maree, if given a choice, would you opt to more days working from home?

Toni, as children, my siblings and I would always choose to ride along with our mother because she always got lost, and it was more fun! Our father would never ever get lost, he'd just go straight to where we were going. SO boring, LOL!

Bess, have a great time at the beach!!!!

Kate, do you want to continue with decorative cooking, or would you want to expand to something else? Maybe ceramics, where you can paint designs on clay pieces you make? Painting on paper so you can illustrate your recipes? Compile a cookie recipe book that you also decorate? Any of those could be fun!

Hi Nicole - I'm not at goal yet, but this group helps provide tips, reinforcement, and more motivation!

Cindy, our travel plans rarely go smoothly, but both of us kind of enjoy the odd adventures we get into, LOL!

Kellie, happy last week (or two?) of this semester! And I'll post our plans as they are made, or at least as we do them.

NancyAnne, yay to the washer and dryer! And congrats to your DH on his new riding mower! (Maybe try it out, I think men like to pretend they're race car drivers or something, LOL!)

Nell, so happy to hear that you're feeling better. And yes, somehow things are never quite comfortable in hospitals - they don't want you to shower, it's hard to sleep with the noise and people checking on you all night. But at least you're getting the medication that is finally helping! (And your dr should prescribe something simple like Maalox for the steroid stomach problems - that really is painful!)

Donna, do you have yard areas where you can plant, or do you do everything in flower pots?

Sue, I may have to call one of the boat companies to find out - couldn't find much online. I'm surprised to hear that your mother is having a knee replacement surgery - will she be able to remember to do things carefully the first few months, given her dementia? And is there an option for her to possibly spend a few nights to a week in a care facility, just for that first week? A friend of mine had both knees done at the same time, and he convinced his dr to give him a week in a care facility so he was taken care of fully, and didn't need to do anything but rest and do physio. (I couldn't convince the dr I needed that, but he did give me two nights in hospital since we were staying in a hotel.)

Okay, I promised myself an early night. Not that 12:30 AM is early to anyone, but at least it's earlier than usual for me.

Phebess - I don't know if any of the boats would come across. It's possible that they may be able to come over on to the Canadian side a bit but that's something you'd have to check out.

Maree - I hope that the plants survived the chilly temps which we have again tonight and maybe you have too. Rather chilly day out there today for April. I hope that you'll have the flexibility to continue to work from home some of the time.

Toni - Sounds like you had a productive, if tiring day but it can really help with the sleep!

Bess - Enjoy the beach! emoticon

Kate - Sometimes we need a change but it's probably something you'll need to figure out on your own. Maybe take a break from the cookie decorating for a while and see if you miss it?

Nicole - I've been there too - lost, came to this team, gained some back and disappeared until I was pretty well back where I had been before! I do the 5% weight loss challenges. They are a great help as I imagine the BLC would be too. Welcome.

Kellie - Being able to get up and do some dancing around my kitchen every morning helps to get me going too. I miss that when I'm at mom's where it's a bit harder to do because I'm attending to her or have other interruptions. Back to routine tomorrow!

Nancy Anne - Hooray for installed washers and dryers and clean clothes! Mom is capable of making something simple for herself but doing any cooking is beyond her now and if she does put one of the soups from her meals into the microwave to reheat it, she often pits it on high power for five minutes which is more than a cup of soup need and it ends up exploding all over the microwave. Of course it's my sister who gets to clean that up! I don't worry about left overs. There was lots of spaghetti sauce left - mom can have sloppy Joes or something like that. My sister has been good at picking up meat so I'm not always taking things. Any left overs mom can eat up or if she doesn't eat them, my BIL can eat them. Funny how animals are so used to a certain routine and need a bit of time to adjust - just like we do! Glad he's enjoying his new found "freedom"!

Nell - It's frustrating I'm sure to not have all the comforts of home and ability to do all that you might do there, but you need to be totally well and make sure you will stay that way before you think about going home. Is there not a shower you can use at the hospital? Most seem to have little shower rooms for patients.

Donna - I hope that you enjoyed your lovely weather. Not as "spring-like" in this part of the country today, let alone summery! I saw on the news last night that BC is implementing some measures similar to what we have in place re travel outside one's region and the province especially. Lots of fun!

Well I'm home and will hopefully get back to some kind of normal tomorrow. It looked a bit iffy this morning at mom's especially when we had very heavy "white" showers just before noon but most of my drive home was actually dry - just a bit of wet stuff in a couple of places but mostly dry roads. My BIL had his appointment for his COVID shot about the time I normally leave so I waited a bit until they got back - timing was perfect for me to get back to town in good time to pick up my new supply of contact lenses about 4 o'clock, then off home to unload and unpack. I noticed when I drove past my church that they will be back to solely online services for the remainder of this stay at home order which will go about another month. Pretty good visit with mom - nothing too wild. She just mentioned a couple of times that she didn't feel well but it seemed to pass quickly enough. My sister will have to hang in there for a bit longer this time as it will be just over 4 weeks until I return in time to look after mom while she has her knee replacement and gets the first couple of weeks of her recovery under her belt. My BIL talked to the sleep doctor this morning and he will send in the forms so that BIL will have his drivers licence reinstated. It was pulled about 6 months ago for medical reasons which have now been remediated with his use of a CPAP machine. I'm glad that he'll have it back (I hope) before my sister has her surgery as she won't be able to drive for 6 weeks post-op and he'll be able to do a lot of the little errands around town like picking up the mail that would have fallen to me otherwise.

Econ, the problem isn't reflux, it's from an autoimmune inflammation of ulcerative colitis. That's why I'm in the hospital being pumped full of steroid, which causes stomach upset.

Good morning all and welcome Nicole. We are all at different stages of our maintenance as you will soon discover.

Nell, so happy to hear you are feeling a little better. I can imagine you are bored but you are where you need to be for now. Have patience my dear!

Kellie you sound so good and life seems to be treating you well. I donít imagine workplaces will ever go back to what there were pre pandemic. Not having to commute every day is a good thing.

NancyAnne it sounds like you are settling in your new home. I guess we get excited about things that our partners donít understand either. I am sure he will have fun with his new toy.

Toni yard work is such good exercise and I bet you felt you had accomplished at lot at the end of the day. Can you imagine doing this everyday as an occupation. Good luck finding the mulch

Maree your poor hubby missing out on opening day. Maybe next year.

Bess enjoy your weekend at the beach house with friends . It sounds lovely to me.

Kate, sometimes we just need a break or sometimes it is a time for a change. You will know what works for you. You have lots of artistic talent which I am sure could be channeled in several areas.

Today I hope to work outside a little more then I will be done until itís flower planting time. A walk will be on the agenda as usual. Another glorious day to enjoy.

I am feeling a bit better, but I need to be home. Last night my stomach was killing me, I needed a pepcid but it wasn't on the list, so they gave me Percocet. Go figure. I want a shower and the ability to take care of myself since there isn't much care here beyond IV meds.

I'll be better able to comment when I am back to my computer.

The washer and dryer are in and clothes have been cleaned. Yay!

Nicole- No worries about whether you are officially "at goal" or not. Some of us are, some of us are under, and some of us (raises hand emoticon ) are over. We're just a bunch of friendly gals who like catching up with each other daily. We'll enjoy your posts in whatever frequency you can share them.

Donna- Was it you who said that your son had a new build done and talks about the things they'd of done differently? I get that! For us, it's mostly electrical. For instance, I'd gladly give up the outlet in the master closet (why?) for a second on in the master bath, on the other side of the double vanity. Didn't think to ask about that. He has copious amounts of outlets everywhere but there.

Kate- I think it's normal to have interests shift as we move on. I know I'm not as into sewing as I was years ago. But I still like having a space were I can create something. I think our brains like to change activities to stay stimulated.

Bess- Enjoy your weekend with friends. That sounds like so much fun!

Sue- I think it's wonderful that your mom can get up and do a few things for herself. The food situation must always be a bit tricky there, since you only need to plan and cook for a few days. It's always difficult for me to gauge exactly how much we need. Without time to eat leftovers it can be frustrating.

Nell- I'm sorry you are still feeling poorly. Bless your heart, you have been through a lot.

Sunny- I'd love to have some of your husbands horticulture expertise right now! We have virtually no landscaping or yard. Now that I want to handle that at this juncture, but we're going to have to do something about it eventually.

Phebe- Yay! Traveling again! I'll pray it's safe and enjoyable.

Hello to anyone else I missed. I'm trying to do this from memory instead of my regular word-document-copy-and-paste method.

It's so fun to read and catch up with everyone on what's going on.

Yesterday Sam purchased a riding lawn mower. It will be delivered tomorrow. He is so excited! The day before he took the push mower out to handle what appeared to be the little bit of grass we have that was getting high. Turns out it was more than it appeared to be on our new 1-acre lot. That motivated him to get the rider sooner rather than later. It's a purchase he's been looking forward to. He came home all atwitter about it, telling me it's features (zero turn!), the color (yellow and black), and other details. I'm happy for him but do not understand: What is it about men and riders?

Oh! Have I mentioned he decided to surrender the downstairs room to me for an office/sewing room as originally planned, instead of using it for an office for himself? It's nice, and I'm glad to be here, but would have loved to have had it painted pink per the original plan, too. Oh well. I do love this blue color! Perhaps down the line I'll paint it.

And the dog is settling in. We have a small fenced yard for him here- At the last house he was on a chain. When we let him outside the first day he would just stand next to the deck slider and look at us like we missed a step. Then he'd venture down the stairs to the yard, think a second, and come back to the door. He seemed to have a hard time believing we trusted him off of the chain. Now that he's over that, he can't get enough of going outside. Such a funny animal!

Off to find food and do some more moving-ing. Thank you for the well wishes and have a blessed day, everyone!

Goood morning!

Hey Nicole! Way to go nearing your goal. High fives!

Maree, I have been in the office Mondays and Tuesdays for a couple months, then the rest of the week at home. I like this schedule. I need to buy new shoes. Two of my coworkers have retired, one went to another team so she works at a different site. So I'm alone in the office on Mondays. Tuesdays, another coworker comes in but we're both fully vaccinated and he sits on the other side of the room from me.

Safe travels Phebess. Sounds exciting! I'm sure the cleaned carpets will help with my allergies. They were looking pretty dingy. It had been over two years since we last had them cleaned.

Toni, I enjoyed Bandland. It was beautifully shot and the glimpse into that lifestyle was fascinating to me! I'm a huge fan of Frances McDormand.

I forgot to turn off on-call alerts yesterday when my on call week finished. The person on call this week got paged twice during the night sooooooo.... The second time it went off, I finally got up and blearily turned that off. So I'm dragging a bit this morning.

My morning yoga flow and dancing took care of that to get moving this morning but I could still go for a nap! I have been enjoying Shine Dance Fitness videos on youtube each morning!

big hugs Nell!

Good Tuesday morning.

Wow, so much going on in everyone's lives! Toni, hope you find the mulch you want, and good job on all the weeding! Bess, have a wonderful time at the beach!! Phebess, your travel plans so far sound fun. I hope everything goes smoothly for you. Maree, sorry for your DH! And for you, having to deal with his grumpiness, LOL! Kate, maybe it's time to do your adorable art on something that will last, not on something edible that will disappear.

Well, my computer is not working very well this a.m. I'm going to have to cut this short! Maybe I can stop back by later.

Good Morning!

I am Nicole and I am pretty new to this team. I have not yet reached my goal weight but I am approaching it and want to be established with you all when I finally get there. I have been there before and was ill prepared and gained weight back. Live and learn! I am very involved in the BLC challenge and we are getting ready to start another round so my time on here will be limited but I will be on here stalking you all and adding my two cents here and there.

Anyway I wanted to stop in and say hi!

Sunny thanks for sharing the photos.

Cindy congrats on the weight loss and the engagement of your son.

Nancyanne I hope the move is progressing.

Kellie good luck with your final push.

Maree at least you know why hubby is unhappy. You know this too shall pass.

I canít sleep because Iím starting to wonder if I am getting bored by cookie decorating. If I need to try a new style or go do something else, but what? Iím feeling a little lost. I knew I could tell this group. It is a safe zone.

Maree - so are you excited about going back to the office, or do you prefer working from home more?

Toni - It's hard to tell how big my yard is - I am going to guess it's an acre and a half - but there is the old garden "room" with ghosts of that construction still around the edges, the shed yard - which leads you down to the river; the East Yard that has the very long 4 strand clothesline and is big enough to set up badminton or volleyball, the :"sunset room" to the west of the house which could be turned into a shrubbery, and the sad front yard which has always looked bare - as per Murphy's Law. there is another patch where you enter our domain from the farm lane and long strip where the boats are parked. That, I never cut - it's the boat guy's responsibility.

Big hugs to everyone here. We are off for 2 days of beach visiting with loved ones who've just purchased a beach house. woo woo

Good morning!

Fun to read yesterdayís posts. We drove to the city and I spent most of the day weeding a very weedy berm in our front yard. We usually get someone in to do spring clean up, but they are short handed and overbooked...I could not let it go another minute. There are also mulch shortages here so today I am going scouting for some to hold back the jungle that I just pulled out. I was tired, oh so tired last night but feeling revived after a good nightís sleep.

Sunny, I really enjoyed your desert pictures!
Bess, how much lawn do you have? Had to giggle about the steps. And for the record, gardening gets kudo points on the Fitness tracker. Who knew??? And I will say that inspite of not walking per se, yesterday, I got over 10K marching around weed to weed I guess.

Nell, I hope each day brings you more strength.

NancyAnne, good that your plans are more Ďin placeí about your mom and your closing. Youíre getting so much done. Remember to breathe!

Kellie, that course work...sounds like you are taking it in stride now. Good on you!! What did you think of Nomadland?

Phebe, love the idea that the plan is we have no plan! I hope you both have those t shirts that say Ďall who wander are not lost!í

Woohoo on that weigh loss, Cindy. I need your inspiration. Working on it...

Maree, you are a hiking wonder. Just sounds great.

HI to Kate, Sue, Donna and Shafan! Welcome Shafan!!

I hope I can find that mulch....

Good morning!

Thanks for the picture, Shawfan. What a lovely vacation spot. I'll have to check out your page, Sunny. One of the landscapers called yesterday and told me to cover the plants, as the below freezing temperatures predicted for tonight will kill them since they are no longer dormant. I wouldn't have known that it would kill them, maybe stunt any flowers. I have a LOT of plants to cover, so am looking at old towels, t shirts, plastic bags, painting canvas. DH is irritated by it all. He was irritated by a lot of things yesterday, and it all boils down to him being unable to be in the woods during these first days of turkey season and mushroom hunting season. For the last 12 years he's had the flexibility in his schedule to be out there, but this year it's more important to him to have perfect attendance in his classes.

Kellie, good to hear from you and I think you will enjoy Business Law. It's very relevant to everyone's life. Much more so, IMHO, than the Humanities class you are finishing. Are you still working remotely?

At the Town Hall meeting yesterday, the Bank said we'd be receiving information within the next few days about our "return to the building", but indicated there would be more flexibility about working from home than pre-pandemic.

Okay, I need to scoot. Continued thoughts and prayers for Nell's recovery and Nancy Anne's stressful situation. Hope all have a great day and stay healthy!
