Bess, the IRS (or the gov't?) extended this year's deadline for taxes to May 15, so your CPA may just be going with that. It's why we didn't rush to finish our taxes by April 15.

NancyAnne, hope the water stays on and that your unpacking goes well!

Nell, I hope you're settled in your room by now and on IV steroids to heal up quickly!

Donna, maybe you can start some bulb flowers? Or is it too late for them by now?

Sunny, DH has never been good at math so I've always helped him with his taxes - but yes, now I'm doing more and more.

Pouring rain all day, I had to wait for a lull just to get the garbage cans out for tomorrow. At least the rain slowed enough so that there isn't a risk of flooding - but then, the rain is supposed to continue through Tuesday, so who knows.

Phebess - Yes it's deja vu but actually it wasn't as closed down as things were a year ago until recently. Had it been, we might not have such a high number of new cases - over 4200 in our province today - and I feel for the health care workers who are just being overwhelmed because there aren't enough trained in critical care to handle all the cases I do not go out much - I've probably been in a store no more than half a dozen times or so since before Christmas and every other time I've been out, it's been for something medical related, aside from one hair appointment and one book club meeting. Our area is not a "hot spot" but we've had enough new cases recently that I try to be cautious because of my frequent trips to mom's.

Toni - Phillip did have a lot of input into the service. He was transported on a modified Land Rover that he helped to design, chose much, if not all of the music and there was a lot of that. They had a "choir" of four who presented quite a few pieces. Only thirty people were allowed to attend and they were physically distanced. The Queen was all by herself. I did miss some parts of the service as I was also trying to make myself some breakfast at the time.
Storing away winter clothes is something I'll need to think about doing soon but I think we have a couple of cooler days coming at us starting on Tuesday.

Bess - It sounds like your had a most wonderful anniversary! So glad that you could enjoy all of that! Our parks aren't closed but people are only supposed to gather with family or people in their own household. Last year all park benches and playground equipment was roped off for a time but one could still walk through the parks and on the trail. People gathering with friends in the parks and not wearing masks or maintaining distance has been a problem in some areas. Outdoor sports areas like basketball and tennis courts, golf courses skate board parks etc can not be used nor can benches or picnic tables but they are going to allow playground equipment to be used. Mom fortunately seems to be just fine today and is still awake.

Nancy Anne - You do have a lot on your plate but I understand you wanting to be with your mom when she has the surgery. I hope that everything works out well. It is a lot of stress all at once. Happy unpacking!

Nell - Be well soon and stay as long as you need to in the hospital to make sure you are well on your way to full recovery.

Cindy - Wonderful to have a day when you can enjoy the weather and accomplish what you want to accomplish. I hope today was just as lovely!

Donna - So nice that you can enjoy the lovely weather and get some things accomplished outdoors too AND spend some time reading. Nice here today but we're in for a rude shock about mid-week. White stuff in the forecast!!!!! emoticon

Been a pretty quiet day. My daughter called this morning and I had a chance to catch up with her while she waited for her bus (she's a transit driver) to arrive. She only had to work a couple of hours before being off for around three hours and then going downtown to another route for the afternoon and early evening. She called on her break so that she could talk to mom and my sister and BIL as well. Nice to catch up. Other than that it was watching church online, taking my BIL out to run an errand, keeping mom fed, getting my hair washed watching some baseball with mom, and not much else. I did squeeze in a few minutes of exercise but Sunday is supposed to be my rest day! It got warm enough here to be outside with a sweatshirt and no jacket - at least for me. No idea what tomorrow will bring but I guess I'll find out when it gets here!

Maree have fun in the woods. What a beautiful picture

Bess you would think that she who does the weeding would have some say but it is not so. The DH loves bringing the plants home and he loves the online catalogs. We love to do back roads when we visit the PNW and Northern Calif because of all the beautiful views and cute little towns. You really had to drive far to find rural areas in Southern Calif and then you would be sharing it with thousands of other people. I envy you your wandering.

Econ enjoy the rest, we slept in late this morning so no walk

Phebess. You get used do doing things together with the DH and it is hard to take on doing more things by yourself.

Sue these days it is unnerving to think about being stopped by police for no reason especially when your family needs you. Maybe you should carry a picture of your mom in the car in case you get stopped. Housing prices are nuts everywhere and it is impossible for first time buyers here in Phoenix. Even the houses far outside of the city have crazy prices.

Donna the young man was lucky that someone responsible found his wallet. Congratulations on you DS buying a condo, it feels good to see them getting established. I love to get the outside ready for the summer outside living. We have been cleaning the furniture and adding some storages boxes for all the pool stuff. We thought about a new outside table but plan to wait a couple of years. The one that came with the house is in good shape but not especially attractive. The lockdown in Canada does not sound good. In your area you do have to be careful not to plant too soon, here we need to get things in right after the two days of frost in January

Cindy congratulations on your DS’s engagement. What is it about little boys in pajama pants and no underwear. I keep a couple of pair at my house along with a pair of shorts because the DGD will come over in his pajama bottoms and we cannot go out of the house. Glad that the weather is bringing you joy and sunshine. The PNW in a beautiful Spring day

Toni I like that you brought your awareness to dinner, I am going to use that on myself. We are planning to get out a little bit more but I need to keep watch on portions. I have been slowly rearranging my closet and drawers moving the cold weather clothes to top shelves. I am planning to go shopping next week for some shorts

NancyAnne moving is never fun and it is fraught with challenges. Having to help with your mom at this time is just complicating everything

Nell this is all so difficult and I hope that the hospital stay has begun and will help you get well

The DD and family came Friday for dinner as planned, came to swim Saturday afternoon and stayed for dinner, then came for lunch and a swim today. This is the way it will be until it is too cold to be in the pool about Mid September. The DGS’s school ends the last week of May and then they are here a lot on the late hot summer evenings. This is the reason we moved here and I love it.

The DH has always been an avid gardener and I love the plants he picks to grow. When he was younger he could manage mostly by himself but the arthritis really slows him down and he needs more help. I thought that we would have fewer plants to grow here but it is amazing how many plants and shrubs do well in the area if you put them in the right place. The yard is still in the everything is small state and need to be checked on daily so I am out there with him a lot more.

We went to a private garden for a tour yesterday and it was amazing what she had growing. She had over an acre of land and has been cultivating it for many years so the beds were huge. The iris beds were big and the flowers just gorgeous, we got to bring some home. Her asparagus bed was also huge and was finished for this year. The plants really get big so I don’t think we have room to grow it here. It just encouraged my DH to explore growing more plants, I think I am losing this battle.

I have a few small sewing projects this plan to do this next week. I have some comfortable long casual linen pants that worked well when we lived near the beach but are too warm for here here. I am going to shorten them. I made myself a terry cloth cover up and the DGS loves it so I am going to make him one.

Morning all, and like Cindy commented we are enjoying every moment of this glorious spring weather. It is not suppose to last but we are thankful for each day.

Nell, you are absolutely the first person in my mind today as you head to the hospital, thank goodness. I hope all goes as planned at the ER and you are taken good care of quickly. Please stay as long as necessary in order to get you well again. B,easing to your son for being there to help out.

Cindy congratulations to your son on his engagement. Life is perfect when we love this new addition to the family. You had such a busy day yesterday and still had time for a walk.

Bess I thought you would be out exploring yesterday as part of your anniversary ritual. Wonderful it was a perfect day for you both.

Toni, I meant to see some of the funeral yesterday but time for away on me. I have to admit I am a little envious about getting together with friends for a dinner party. I think DH is getting tired of just me. Haha
Enjoy your quiet day after your walk. We all need a day off.

Maree I assume the picture you posted was from your hike yesterday. Lovely.

NancyAnne my goodness everything seems to happen at once doesn’t it? Wishing you success with all your unpacking before you go to your Mom’s. I know I would not want to come back and face it either. I am sure she will be very grateful to have you with her.

I got more work done outside yesterday and it was actually nice enough to sit out and read for awhile. I think I may power wash the deck today. I have hosed it down already so maybe that will be enough. We did t seem to get as much miss this winter. This weather makes me want to fo to the local nursery but I know it is probably too early. Mother Nature is teasing us right now.

Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday.

Good Sunday morning.

I just read through all the posts, and now I have probably only a short time to write before mama calls me. Or before I have a heart attack from the smoke alarm deciding to start beeping. (I just now heard one of those little "chirps" it gives to warn you it's time to change the battery. Guess I'd better do that today, before it does more than just chirp!)

I had a delightful day yesterday, just enjoying time to get a few things done that are hard to do when the Littles are here, and reveling in the beautiful Spring weather. I even managed to get outside to pull a few weeds. And I cut mama's hair, and cleaned her ceiling fans, and did some vacuuming. Just boring stuff, but it needed to be done. Had time to go for a walk with DH, and it was a beautiful day for that.

Today I plan to take mama to her church. DH is preaching at the Hispanic church again today. The pastor of that church got his 2nd dose of vaccine on Thursday and was afraid he might be feeling the effects of it, so he asked DH to fill in for him.

Other than that, not sure what this day will bring. Hopefully good things, and I hope the same for all of you. I love hearing about all of your adventures, and praying for your needs. Oh, and Donna, what a wonderful story about finding the owner of the wallet!! Loved that one!

Good morning. I had a slightly better night, the prednisone pills must be working. DH's son will be here in a few hours to take me to the ER and stay with DH for however many days I'm away. I am supposed to go to the ER and ask them to call me doc for admission, rather than go through the whole ER workup thing. We already have a diagnosis and treatment plan, don't need to do it all again. But it's Sunday, I don't know how long it will take them to get hold of my doc, I have little faith in the efficiency of the medical establishment. I am hoping that a couple of days of IV steroid will calm everything down and I can get back home. I am down to 100 pounds this morning, this can't go on.

Phebess, I just started doing our taxes one year, turned out DH was happy not to have to do it, he just thought it was his manly responsibility. Little by little many of the little tasks he did but turned out he hated are now off his plate, he is happy about that.

After talking to my sister yesterday, I discovered that Mom most likely got confused and her surgery was in 2 WEEKS, not 2 months as she'd told me. Most likely somewhere around the 28th. Betsie will know more and keep me apprised in the upcoming days.

I have already texted the realtor and found out that there is a way they can close without me physically present. In the meantime, I am going to be working like crazy to get as many boxes unpacked as I can before flying to California at whatever time it works out best for all involved for me to be there. I don't want to have an enormous job awaiting me here when I potentially get back exhausted.

The new washer and dryer are going to be installed today and Sam informed me last night that he forgot to have the water switched to our name here. He's going to call tomorrow about that. Sigh. I'm hoping it doesn't get turned off in the meantime. Of all the utilities to forget, water would have been my last choice.

I can take a lot, but this is getting to be a bit much, honestly. I keep reminding myself that His grace is sufficient.

Nell, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I am concerned for you.

I need to go and get unpacking. Have a blessed day, everyone!

Maree - enjoy your wild life discoveries today.

Toni - what a lovely long post. And thank you for the good wishes. I think you absolutely deserve a Day of Rest. Enjoy playing (or planning to play) with your wardrobe.

Kate - I hope you got back to sleep. Must have cookies on the brain.

Phebess - ahh yes. Taxes. I haven't heard from my CPA so I guess he had to apply for an extension. Ah well. Such is life. At least he does them, not I.

Sue - gosh - I don't think things were ever that shut down here - at least, parks were always open for people to walk in. I'm so sorry life is so circumscribed. Sending prayers that your mom adjusts quickly to the vaccine. And that your sister's surgery can happen on schedule and run smoothly.

Donna - Wow! What a bunch of coincidences. But at least now you have met a new neighbor - maybe a new friend. With a dog? What could be better? And congratulations on your children's purchase of a new home.

Nananana - Love me some retail therapy. LOL - even grocery shopping is interesting to me.

Cindy - congratulations on the newly engaged couple. How wonderful too, that you like his fiancé. One day there may be cousins for the Littles to play with. There's nothing so beautiful as that perfect kind of spring weather. Ahhhhh. And a picnic in PJs sounds delightful.

Sunny - oh how I understand your DH's plant addiction. I spent SO much on my garden when I had it. I had to periodically slap myself in the face and ask myself if I loved gardening or if I just loved SHOPPING for garden stuff. So. Yeah. but stand your ground. She who does the weeding should have a say so in how much wedding needs to be done. LOL - enjoy your expanding social life.

Nancyanne - big hugs to you for both your mama and you. This is a lot on your plate - but that is life too. And it includes the end part. How fortunate you are that your mother is being pro-active. I hope you get to keep her a lot longer - maybe even get her to visit you in your new home.

Nell - I hope you are reading this in the hospital - and I hope they not only calm your over-excited body but find the right combination of meds to keep you that way. And if you need to stay longer, just have your stepson make arrangements with someone else to come in. Heal well.

Yoo hoos to everyone else on the team.

We had a splendifferous day yesterday, rambling around King George, County - between the Rappahannock and the Potomac rivers. We didn't cover every back road but we got most of them, driving about 40 miles an hour. We ended up at a different, all Mexican, restaurant, closer to home, but not as exotic. I did all the driving while DH did the navigating. I got out at the Enchanted Forest again and walked through it while DH drove on home, picked up the dogs and walked out to meet me. Bluets are in full bloom right now and so is wild azalea. Not quite, but almost 10K steps did a little to mitigate the cheesy, corn, and guacamole meal.

Thank you for all your good wishes. It was a perfect anniversary.

Good morning!

I might be the only one on the couch this morning, drinking coffee and posting. Lazy Bump right now, lol. But at 9, walking with my neighbor.

We had dinner with vaccinated friends last night. The company was good and the menu delicious. I brought my awareness along though and didn’t over indulge. emoticon

Nell, eager to know you are safely being treated in the hospital.

Bess, Happy Anniversary! They come around quickly, do they not? And so sweet too to celebrate this year with a health being as good as any other gift could be.

Donna, I know those home ‘sticker’ prices are hard to get my mind around too. I know it will be a good feeling to know they are in a home of their own.

NancyAnne, I trust you have seen the last of ‘uninvited’ guests. Fingers crossed!

Kate, are you feeling better?

Sue, my DH was very curious about the Prince Phillip service. I think watching the BBC stories on the monarchy drew him in. I read some accounts, but did not watch.

Cindy, exciting to have an engagement and to gain a DIL that you like so much!

Sunny, I know a woman who considers herself a ‘gardening widow’ because her DH tends plants all the darned time. Beautiful yard though...

Today ought to be a simple Sunday with time to read, spend time with my DH, and make dinner. I bustled around and did the laundry yesterday so I think I get a day of rest. Although I am giving thought to storing all my winter clothes away for the season. Or at least make a plan.

Take care, all. Toni
