Daily check in 10/23

Maree, I hope the pup is doing well - maybe just dinner didn't agree with him? I know our cat got sick when she ate turkey, but it took a while to figure that out.

Nell, it'll be the week from purgatory but then it will be over. Sending you thoughts of strength and patience.

Donna, even though we're near the coast, we can go to our nearby mountains for the flood!

So, we have a bit of a snag that will hold up our leaving. DH drove to a nearby place for dinner (I had leftovers), and he was turning into the turn lane when someone speeding in the turn lane clipped the front right corner of our car. It looks like a mess to me, but I know little about car repair - so I have no clue how long this will take. He called the insurance company, and we'll go get an estimate tomorrow. And see if it's okay to drive - it looks like something inside is ready to fall out, which makes me nervous about driving - I have no idea what it is other than the light, but it looks a lot more involved than just the light.

Fortunately, DH is fine - two years ago he got a pricey ticket for not having his seatbelt on, so now he wears it all the time here. I'm hoping he still feels okay tomorrow, given how his back has been for the past two years.

And now he knows why I insist on being our long distance driver. Sigh.

Good afternoon!

This is one of those days! First, I walked just over 1.5 miles. Then went to TOPS and walked about half hour before the meeting. I lost a pound this week. Yay! Then home for a quick cup of coffee. Then to the Chiropracter. Then into Missoula for lunch and a class on joint replacements (knee and hips). Then to Costco and home. We have church tonight. I'm tired!

Hi team,

I had no voice this morning (and still don't), so stayed home today. I haven't had much energy, so put in about 3 hours of work (split up!) and then called it a day. Kitties have been my snuggle buddies.

I'm in that uncomfortable limbo. Too tired to work, but not sleepy. Just bored! I did finish reading one of my stack of magazines I haven't gotten to get, but am itching to leave the house. A coworker recommended licorice tea, so I may go buy some at the store around the corner just to get a little air.

I see my hematologist on Monday. Fingers crossed that my numbers are stable. I do want to ask him if the SMM could be the reason I seem to catch everything that floats by, and if there's anything I can do to help prevent that.

Well, it's dinner time for the kitties. I've been drinking gallons and have been eating as needed, so I may skip a proper dinner or just eat a little chicken & greens.

Late check in, but happy hump day! My hearing went more or less as expected which was not great for my client, but only so much I can do to save someone from bad choices.

Maree - Hope Scamp is doing better! Ours throws up randomly every once in awhile, and it's not explainable. Doc wasn't concerned, since it happens so infrequently.

Bess - I'm getting through it. After tomorrow, downhill slide into my vacay that begins November 1st.

Kellie - I tried Olive Kitteridge, but I just couldn't get into it. I do love when an adaptation fits my idea of what it should be, for sure. Maybe I'll try it again at some point.

Toni - Lovely! Is the grandpup a hound?

Hello, ladies! Been reading but not posting.

Today is busy- Went to my WW meeting but opted not to weigh as last week was a bit of an eating disaster! I have chores and housework and them am meeting my future son-in-law for dinner tonight- his treat! That will be nice.

Marree- Barfy dogs are NOT fun! We have occasionally woken up to a mess on the carpet that we apparently slept through. The worse is when we step in it. I hope you all get good, non-barf sleep tonight!

Nell, I don't envy you having to get mom situated and all of the hassle that comes along with it. I am in Indiana and my mom is in the SF Bay Area, so this isn't something I can identify with first hand. I know you will feel better once she is settled. She will, too.

Right now it's Olive Again by Elizabeth Strout. As I read the first one, Olive Kitteridge, I imagined Frances McDorman as Olive. I tend to imagine celebrities or people I know in the characters when I read a book. Imagine my surprise a few years later, when HBO produced the Olive Kitterdge miniseries starring....Frances McDorman! I signed up for a free HBO trial period to watch it and she did not disappoint!

I'm shifting my mindset again. Every now and again, I get in a bad habit of "I don't have time". Funny how that usually happens in the fall. Getting myself back on track mentally!

Hoping to leave work a little early, hit the water rowing machine at the fitness center (it's been too long) before I have to work from home tonight on a server upgrade, then be back on site way before the sun comes up to make sure there are no issues.

Morning all, it’s pool day this morning and I am looking forward to moving easily in the water. I always feel better when i am done. It doesn’t last long but I know it helps. My sister is going to be able to help out for a few weeks after my surgery which is wonderful. We will fly her in from Regina. She is happy to help out as she has a son here that she will be able to spend some time with him. A bonus both ways.

Maree, poor Scamp. Let’s hope he feels more better today.

Bess good for your sister teaching spinning classes. It was one of my favourite classes that I dreaded. Also nice to have lunch with our sisters.

Phebess I have written down the author you suggested and will order her books. I read on my kindle or iPad. It sure is easier right now than going to the library. Right now I am reading After the flood by Kassandra Montage. The world has flooded and the story is about how the people who are left are surviving. This is not my usual type of book but it is really well written and definitely holds your attention.

Econolady I sure hope you get some relief with your shoulder. What is the next step? I can’t imagine folding all this newsletters helped with the pain.

Nell, this time next week the move will be over, at least the hard part. I hope all goes well with your Mom. I know this is such a worry for you on top of everything else you have to deal with.

The orthopedist gave me a cortisone shot in my shoulder. I go back in 2 weeks and decide if it helps or we go to the next level. She pushed my shoulder in various directions to see how far I could go. I stopped her just before screaming.
Yesterday morning the newsletter came back from the printer. I spent four and a half hours folding, stuffing and finally mailing the newsletter. My low back was causing me lots of pain, but it was important to get the club newsletter out.

Jamirblaze - ugh about the sudden inundation of extra work. bleh. For you - I would wish the weekend came early after all.

Yesterday was a 100% rewarding day. Art class was both productive and rewarding with a compliment from my teacher - and the thought that a private lesson or two from her might be beneficial. I'm at the point where I don't ask (so often) what's wrong, but instead can ask "should I shorten this line or push it to the left?" eye training - and hand training - that's what I'm doing. Then there was lunch with a beloved sister who teaches spin classes at her YMCA. The gym is in a competition to win a fancy schmancy exercise bike - to be awarded to the U.S. YMCA who's members bike the most miles. She had opened the gym up at midnight Tuesday morning and by the time she met up with me she had biked 69 miles. Needless to say - she was too tired to do more than eat a restorative lunch. But it is always fun to get together with sis.

I got an email yesterday telling me that Mom can't move in Tuesday afternoon after all, so I had to rearrange yet again so we can pack Monday afternoon and move her Tuesday morning. That will make Monday afternoon a zoo, but we'll be done faster on Tuesday.

I will get my nephew this morning to go out to Mom's while she is out at the grocery store for the last time. We need to put a wireless card in her old computer, there won't be an ethernet connection in the new place. All she knows how to do is open AOL to send email, but since she doesn't know how to make a phone call anymore, we need to keep that one line of communication open.

One week from today it will be over!!!

Good morning! Hump day!!

Scamp woke us around 11:30 pm and then again an hour later, with vomiting in his kennel which is located in our bedroom. DH stayed up a while and worked on a brisket he is smoking. Scamp seems fine this morning, but DH and I are dragging.

I'm running late so I better get this posted. Lots of rowing at crossfit class today.
