Stiggy How did you know you know that you needed a knee replacement? Over a decade the doctor repaired a major meniscus tear. It went very well. Now Im having trouble all around me knee. After I go for a walk, it hurts (a lot to bend my knee). Frequently I cry out in pain. After icing its better.

Stiggy, I had a knee replacement 2 yrs ago, and spent 2 nights in the hospital - my dr normally approved only 1 night, but my surgery was in the afternoon and we were staying in a hotel, so he okayed me for 2 nights. (The two arthroscopic surgeries to repair the torn meniscus years ago were outpatient - I can't imagine doing the knee replacement as an outpatient, it's pretty major surgery.)

Donna and I had a lovely couple of hours over tea and coffee - and we could have continued talking for another couple of hours! She has the photo (taken by her husband, I haven't met a Sparkie husband before!), and I'm sure will post tomorrow.

And it was FREEZING here today! Okay, not literally 32 F or 0 degrees C - but it was in the 30s and cold and windy. DH had referrals to a couple of more doctors to see, but we both are so ready for anywhere warm!

Hi folks, you all have been busy!
We didn't hike on Sunday because it started raining, but it didn't last long, alas. It's repeatedly threatened to rain here for a couple of months now, but we only get a tiny sprinkle now and then. It's hard to believe we had such a wet spring and summer.

Stiggy, hooray for the knee appointment! Donna, sorry you've had to wait so long. There are certainly pluses and minuses to each country's health system.

I've been taking my walk each evening after work, and am not looking forward to the time change. It gets dark too early as it is! I'll have to resort to the gym starting in November, as it will be dark when I get home from work.

That's it for me. Gotta sleep!

Sunnybeachgirl, Disney is good, but far from a relaxing vacation experience. Add expensive to it, and I'm not sure I'll ever go back.

Just checking in to say hello. Nell I do not envy you moving your mom. Moving is hard and with someone who has mental issues it is even more challenging.

The towers of boxes have disappeared although there is homeless stuff all over the floor in every room of the house. I thought I did enough downsizing but there is more to do as I organize everything.

We are on our way back from a few days at Disneyland. This was a trip with our daughters family that we planned a year ago. We had a good time but can no longer keep up with the grandson so we mostly met him and the others for meals. I am not sure we will go again it was crowded

Stiggy, a friend of mine just had a knee replaced, it was outpatient, she went home that afternoon. She started rehab the next week, she's doing great. It must be the type of joint, there are different devices, I don't know how they all work.

Good afternoon,

I walked early this morning, then went to TOPS and walked some more before the meeting. I was the "Loser of the Week, with a 2 pound loss! I'm ok with that.

Yesterday when I walked, I took off my light Jacket after half a mile. This morning, I walked in the snow with my winter coat on. What a difference a day makes!

Yesterday was also an emotional yo-yo day. I started out down when I got a phone call from the Bone & Joint saying the earliest I could have my knee replacement was November 26 (2 days before Thanksgiving) when ruins all Thanksgiving plans. I had a good cry over that. Late in the afternoon, I got another call from the Bone & Joint saying they had an opening on November 1. I said right away, that sounds much better. That made me a lot happier.

I'll probably stay 1-2 nights in the hospital.

Wow I'm just now at my computer.

I take Mom to the doc this afternoon. I just called her to remind her again, she had forgotten my call this morning. I just hope she's there at 2, it's her pre-entry exam for the assisted living she doesn't know she's moving to in 3 weeks. I have had to cancel doc appts in the past because she forgot, I can't cancel this one.

I pay $150 every two weeks for a team of 3 ladies to clean my house. It's 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, and I have 3 cats, so it does need a little time.

Good luck Econ. I hope the test isn't too intrusive, I have no idea how a needle biopsy is done.

Morning all, it will be a full day for me today as I am heading across the border to do some Thanksgiving shopping. I will get a turkey round $20.00 instead of around $70.00 here. I would say its worth the trip. All,our dairy is way more expensive in Canada. Also I am quite excited as Phebess and I are planning on meeting each other for coffee. What fun to finally meet a Spark friend in person. I will be sure one of us takes a picture to share

Maree its great your hubby is taking his health journey along with you he had a great motivator.

Toni, I am never thrilled going to the dentist either but it is a necessary part of taking good care of ourselves.

NancyAnne I think you deserve a day from school work. Enjoy!

Bess I would say you did great with not gaining on your road trip. Welcome home.

Econolady thinking of you this morning. I pray all goes well.

Kelli, glad today started out better. Enjoy your dinner tonight.

As far as trying to find a cleaning lady that is what I am doing by talking to friends. I will find someone I am sure. I just need someone quickly as it is getting hard to do this myself.

I got a call yesterday from the hospital where I am having my surgery. I go on Tuesday for all the preliminaries . This surgery cant come soon enough. I think I have waited way too long.
When I see how fast things have progressed with our friend Stiggy it makes me quite frustrated.

Onward to my day......have a good one my friends!

Good morning! Hump Day! I ended up getting on a roll and stayed late last night at work. I got an awful lot done yesterday, and am almost caught up. Outlook, etc. is not working for me this morning, but I can use the web app. Hate it-hope IT fixes soon.

Phebess - Possibly would stick, but would hold the gauze in place. Gives a nice cushion.

Nell - I'm happy things are falling into place!

Kellie - Mornings lately have been a little like that lately here. Comedies of errors. emoticon

Stiggy - Will you go home same day? I know that they do that a lot now with knees.

I've gotta scoot. Have a good one, all!

Hey everyone!

Toni, you should have planned the massage AFTER the dentist! emoticon

Marree, I would love to find someone to come in once a month and clean for a reasonable fee. The problem is that regular cleaning services are NOT what I would call a reasonable fee! I am sure the right individual will fall into my lap at just the right time.

Leaving for a WW meeting in a few minutes. I still weigh in weekly, even though it is not required now that I have made lifetime. I intend to lose a bit more and this helps to keep my head in the game.

School work is done and submitted for the week and minimal work to do around here today. I can feel it's gonna be a good one!

Be blessed,ladies! And happy Wednesday!

Nancy Anne

Good morning~!

Feeling all buffed and polished after a massage and haircut yesterday. But today, today is the dentist. Do I know how to have fun or what? Ha, its just a cleaning and will not take all day.

Happy for Bea and Econ who get to move along with their medical procedures. Limbo is so hard. And Nell - yes on the moving mom front. At long last, with lots of hands to help.

Bess, your weigh in with winter clothes made me think about fall weight gain and how easy it is to go there with all the comfort foods coming up. Im pitching soup once a week at our house to help deal, and of course will pay attention. Fall also can be very active, so in the end, with a focus, I will hold my own.

It even feels like hump day for me. By next Monday I won't have any more Must Do things on my list unless they're WannaDo things as well.

Phebess - I love that grid transfer exercise but I wouldn't mind a projector if someone wanted to give me a gift, ya know. Hope you find the perfect winter spot - warm and interesting.
Bea - congratulations on getting an earlier date for your surgery
Nancy Anne - don't you just love that accomplished feeling when everything is done? Great hubby - a keeper indeed
Econlady - even though it's over now - sending you comfort hugs
Donna - I think you're right - the thumbers do better than the pointers. LOL - hope you find your cleaning lady - I liked Maree's advice
and MAREE - are you enjoying having your DH in class with you? Does he also fast through breakfast?
Kellie - Ugh - some days really are stones - let's hope today is a diamond.
Jamirblaze - hope you are all fixed today
Toni - ahhh. I love it when I have a self care day and I love it when I hear a friend gave herself one too. Our rain total came to just over half an inch - so so grateful for it - hope it happens again, soon
Nell - yippee! A moving date for your mom. Fingers crossed the girlfriend stays out of things. I love it that you have your own entertainment center.

I'm SUCH a morning person and DH is SUCH a night owl that we've been able to share for a long time, but I want a computer to do business on in the studio. And so - on the computer front - the recycling folk are actually going to build me what I want for about $200. As a 501c3 they get free used equipment and give it to schools and libraries and other charities out there, but they also run a little shop and sell them cheap. They come loaded with Open Office - which is actually quite a good shareware program. It will save a document in word or .jpg or .pdf as well as their own format. I wonder what a shareware equivalent to Microsoft Publisher is ....

I weighed in in a winter outfit yesterday, instead of sandals and a sun dress - so my weight was up about .5 lbs. About what the clothes weighed. So - no loss - but now I'm not traveling and not partying and not stressing over some other minor things .... let us see if I can whittle away those last few lbs. Happy Hump Day to you all

Good morning! Hump day, yaaaaaay!

I'm rushing around this morning preparing the house for the cleaning lady. I need one full day at home in this office--filing, bill paying, ins claim processing, now researching the propriety of the real estate assessment before the complaint filing deadline. Oh, wait!!! I have a holiday Monday. That'll work.

Donna, I found my cleaning lady through a crossfit classmate. Ask all your friends if their lady might have a day--even if you start with one day a month. Oftentimes they have openings for a day here and there as clients travel or snowbird away. Gets your foot in the door for a person who is trustworthy per your friends. I appreciate the help just one day a month.

Econlady, thinking of you as you get your test today. Hoping for Quick and favorable results.

Kellie, I rarely forget my lunch, or my phone but SO frustrating when I do. Luckily, it's only a 10 minute return home drive, which I will do on occasion. Glad you found a healthy alternative.

Ooo, I need to scoot. DH going to crossfit class with me. Yaaay! Then packing a healthy lunch, and a beautiful fall day predicted.

Hope all have a great day!
