Maree, your friend will appreciate your help and support - wonderful that you can be there for her.

Bea, is your knee surgery soon?

Toni, once I have my packing list together, I'll send a copy. I tend to go with basic items in solid colors that can mix and match - though my tops probably have more interest in terms of shape and fabric texture. A lot of black, white, grey, with red or gold shoes for contrast.

We tried a new place for brunch, then I went to the mall. Got in a couple of miles of walking, and found gold sandals that will work for beaches as well as "formal" dinners on the cruise. Of course, if we have formal dinners while sailing around Antarctica, my toes will freeze, but that's the price one pays for beauty, LOL!

Toni,

When you start your education at 52 there are a few advantages, like realizing your brain will work better if it gets a regular rest! :-)

On the other hand, I don't seem to retain information like I used to. However, I am better at surmising the correct answer in a quiz or test, so it probably more than even's out.

Good afternoon

I walked a shorter walk this morning, then went to church to teach Sunday School and the Worship Service. We then went out to eat. This afternoon, I walked a mile with my husband. Its good that he will do this most days if I go with him. After total knee replacement surgery, I'm hoping he'll walk that mile with Malia. I'll be back walking as soon as I can. I'm going into this surgery strong from walking and doing exercises. Thats my biggest advantage.

Big hugs for your friend Maree. My DH is away as well. Enjoying some much needed solitude.

Last night I went to my daughter and SIL's new place in the city and then out to dinner with them, her dad and his wife and my son to hear their plans for their wedding party. They went before a judge last November and had a civil union. They are planning a short marriage ceremony and party in February. They are very unconventional but very happy so despite a tinge of disappointment, I'm very happy and filled with joy for them.

DH is out of town visiting his brother so I'm enjoying a quiet Sunday, laundry, meal prep, a short run and meditation.

Mentally preparing for a buys workweek, dinner out with my sisters and cousins and a group run.

Happy Rocktober! emoticon

Nancyanne, wonderful you know to take a day off from school. When I finally finished my education the thing I loved about the work world was that I didnít have to take it home on the weekends, lol. I guess sometimes I still do, but for them most part, no homework!

Hi everyone,

Checking in late today. DH and I are working on our garage. A labor, but so satisfying. Now to take the stuff we got rid of to donation sites and/trash places. Most of that canít happen until tomorrow.

Phebess, 24 items of clothing for two climates! What a feat. Iíd be curious to hear what you do take along. Iím always challenged by packing for travel.

Maree, Iím thinking that time with your friend will be important. Hard to be alone with a diagnosis and surgery ahead.

Our dinner gala last night was nice. The food was good and I enjoyed it.

Back to work for me. Toni

Morning all and a beautiful fall day ahead for me so far.

Not much planned other than finishing up my housework and some ironing. Yes, I still do a little of that mi use to be able to whip through this housework in no time but now it takes me days to finish it. Still trying to find a cleaning lady.

Maree, it sounds like your friend needs you .there for her. Tough for sure.

Hope you all have a good Sunday

Hi folks,

Taking a break with my furry buddy before rousting hubby from bed - he was up late with his buds last night.

I'm happy to report that I've gotten over 7 hours of sleep every single night this week, and that I've been more active too. Now to add piano back into the mix!

I'm hankering to do a trail called Raven Rocks today. It's nearby, and is part of the AT called the roller coaster. It's about 5.5 miles total, with fairly steep ups and downs. We hiked part of it a month or so ago, and it's the closest thing I've seen so far to an Adirondack trail in this region.

I hauled another load of dirt today for my giant hole. The giver has finished her patio and it looks great. Today we dug alongside where she wants to plant some flowers. Our good old red Virginia clay was dry and hard as a rock to dig, but went down the hole much easier than when damp. Now I need to contact concrete lifting companies to see what it will cost to finish filling the hole and level the walkway.

I also (finally!) cooked beans in the pressure cooker where there wasn't so much water at the end I needed to cook it out, causing the beans to turn to mush. There was still a tad too much water left, but leaving the pot on "keep warm" with the lid open made it evaporate properly. It's taken me quite a few attempts to figure this out, so I'm very proud.

Ince again I'm logging in with a tedious phone instead of an efficient keyboard. We got home very late last night, always a consequence of joining our city friends and family for a celebration. Gosh we had fun, though.

Phebess. ... the traditional berets and rams are knit straight up, like a stocking cap, then dampened and stretched over a dinner plate to dry. I had DH make my a circular form from plywood, with holes cet out of them to help my tams to dry faster.

Hope to be fully computer functional one day soon.

Good morning. We're back from church, I really love the early service.

Maree, your gf sounds like she's had it rough. She'll need your help for sure.

Not much on today.

Good morning!

Happy Sunday! The family bonfire was a success but we didn't get home until after 10 pm. Thankfully, I had taken an afternoon nap in preparation for the event. What a luxury to actually sleep in the middle of the day when you need it!

Poindextra, where will you and your husband go hiking today? I really enjoyed hiking the woods this past summer with DH and Scamp.

Plans for my day so far include kissing my girls goodbye, then church and, with DH gone, I'll do some food prep, house straightenering, and maybe meeting up with a gf who hears results of tests tomorrow and expects a complete hysterectomy. She's already survived breast cancer.

I really just want to fast today. I've consumed way too much "off plan junk" at all these recent parties and events. I don't like the aftertaste or the way I feel. Just craving a reset.

Phebess, I'm not traveling like you, but some wardrobe attention is needed as we change seasons.

Nell, good to hear your husband's feeling better and getting out with his buddies.

Time to shower and help DD load up for her return trip. Hope all have a great day!
