Happy Monday! We're having off and on rain, and I'm freezing! Well, chilled anyway. But I need to get a blog out, so I'll just wish everyone well, and move along!

Good for you, Bea, for taking care of yourself!

I felt the Monday blahs today, with a low grade headache in the evening. Will get to bed extra early tonight to compensate. We have such creative people in this group, I look forward to seeing more pictures.

I worked more on my crochet headband tonight, during my Monday night meeting (pretty much the only time I work on it;)). I definitely have the pattern down now, and it's working up pretty quickly.

I tried to upload a picture, but my phone isn't cooperating. Oh well!
Sleep well, my friends!

Good afternoon

I saw the doctor this morning for my knee. He talked about steroid injection (not enough time since the last one), Sinvisc Injection, and total knee replacement. Then he thought it would be good to get a new xray (last one was just over 2 years ago). Then he saw the xray ... he recommended knee replacement. I thought about Bernie. Should I plan it around Bernie? I decided not to. I said "Lets get it done!" So now I wait for a call from the Bone and Joint to set up a time.

I appreciate all your advice. I've decided that she probably has hypochondria. She has more doctor appointments than anyone that I know. I tried to tell her (so she knew she was not the only one with pain) that I had a lot of pain in my lower back, knee and rib. Before I could finish, she interrupted loudly, I have a broken neck, 3 broken ribs (I wonder about that), a bad knee and .... I just shut up. She was having a major pity party. I'm not telling her about my up coming surgery, until she's heard it from another source.

I have no idea how to deal with mentally ill people, but I do know that people charged with it don't help. There was a man named Glenn who owned a condo whose son was mentally ill (my front door over there is still broken from where he tried to kick it in). The son slept in trash rooms in winter and in the woods in summer. Glenn would finally get him in an institution, and some do good public service lawyer would always get him released to avoid depriving him of his constitutional right to freedom. Glenn died not long ago, I have no idea what happened to his son.

We had another mentally disabled man whose father bought him a condo, turned him over to county services, then moved to Florida. This guy would pee in the playground in front of the children, the cops would arrest him, but always had to let him go because he was mentally disabled. He was also an alcoholic, his disability checks kept him in booze for a few days every month. I have no idea what finally happened to him, one day he was gone and his father sold the unit.

It's got to be tough, Bea, do you need to be the one who is dealing with it?

Maree we are all interested in seeing the finished piano bench project. Good for you for tackling the project. And I agree with Toni. You saved a bundle!

Toni, enjoy your evening with your friend. I am sure she will appreciate seeing you both.

Bess, luck you for having a grandkids days to look forward to. Hope the foot feels better soon. Yes, it might be s good idea to talk to the doctor about it. It is hard for a foot to heel as we are a,ways putting pressure in it.

Jamir, I hope you are not coming down with something and you end up feeling better as the day goes on.

Poindextra I am also curious on what you are doing hauling all this fill. It has been going on for a very long time.

Bea, you certainly have a lot to deal with. I think the group here has given you some good advise. I certainly hope something works.

Phebess, I had to chuckle about the key. Those are usually cumbersome and never meant for fit in a pocket. You really understand your hubby. We all have our talents in different areas..

Finally it is time to get back to the pool and I am so looking forward to it.

Good morning! Monday...is rough, per usual. I think I may be coming down with something, but I'm giving it my best shot. Don't know if I will make it all day, but shuffling some things along.

Bea - Is she in mental health counseling? If so, if you could get permission to speak with her provider, they may be able to give you some insight into how to handle this matter. Maree is right - the only thing that you can do is control your reaction.

Nell - hoping that the facility is ready soon!

Bess - I have a nagging foot pain from time to time, too. The muscles in my feet get really tight and using a hard tennis ball to massage them helps. Hope it's nothing serious!

I've got to see what I can accomplish! Have a great day, all!

Good morning!

My last morning alone and looking forward to picking up DH at the airport tonight. Weíre having dinner with a friend who recently lost her mom. We could not go to the memorial on the west coast, but are eager to see and talk to her.

Meanwhile, heading out for an early bird walk.

Maree, I hope the return to work isnít too wild a ride. And I bet you saved a bundle by doing that piano bench yourself. We upholstered a piano bench years ago and the first estimate was astronomical. I laughed and said, itís a piano bench! They took the cost right on down, but it was still pricey as I recall. I did keep it when the piano moved on. Pretty and handy! Can we see yours, Maree?

Bess, so lovely that you can help your DIL AND have a great time. Perfect. Reading the newest Louise Penny; just finished the latest Ann Cleeves. Also reading Radical Ritual, a book about Burning Man (who knew?). And a fun book, The Lager Queen of Minnesota.

Bea, itís hard to know what to advise with your Bernie because none of us know her. For many people I would just leave them to their own devicesóyou are not an EMT and Iíd tell her that you are so sorry she feels badly but you are not an expert. She can call 911 or get someone else to take her. Eventually both the ER and those others will quit jumping in and she will figure it out. Those long waits are her problem, not yours. And the ER staff are used to such antics as Bernieís and I am sure are letting her cool her heels once they triage her. And then there is the advice Iíve been given with needy nervous people like Bernie. Spend time with them doing some positive things. Seems like the attention is what she craves and maybe an easier thing for you to deliver. I do think itís cool you went ahead and did your dinner before trotting over.

Phebess, love the key story. Could have been me instead of your dh...

You are a hard worker, Poindextra!

Nell, at least you were delayed to get to church by healthy people. Wonder if any of them were Sparky souls?

Econ, we need a cookie update!

Heading out for my trot. Think Iíll throw in some intermittent intense thingies.

Toni

Maree - that's great news about your sewing machine! I hope you have an easy day back into the work world. I was always useless that first day back from vacation
Phebess - What a story about your DH and the key! I love his mnemonic skills! LOL
Poindextra - cool that your DH is packing his own lunches. I never could get in that habit when I worked.
Bea - mental illness is so sad. And so difficult to cope with when you are a caregiver. You have my sympathy.
Econlady - may you have cookie sculpting success today
Kellie - what fun it must be to run through a zoo! Enjoy your well deserved rest. We're actually enjoying that bird - very pretty and interesting to watch
Ahh Donna and Nell - I too remember the stretch and sew. My mom had a sewing machine with cams and zig-zag stitching so we used them to sew knits. I did the same with my machine for many years but eventually I got an overlock.
Toni - what are you reading these days?
Jamir and Sunny - and all the rest of the team - welcome to Monday.

I have my check-up this morning. I've already seen my labwork and it's very good but my foot still bothers me - not constantly but when I've been on it a while. I'll talk to the doc about it while I'm there. Maybe an x-ray? If not - I will go to a 10 o'clock meeting before heading back to the studio. assorted civic groups are gearing back up with a cluster of fall meetings after a little summer break. My DiL asked me to come babysit on Thursday - what joy to look forward to!

Good morning!

Monday, Monday emoticon And it's return to work, werk day for me. Three more days at home would've been nice. With all the rain, we left the marina late morning and I spent most of the rest of the day working on the piano bench cushion. The good news is that my sewing machine just purred like a kitten, sewing through that thick upholstery fabric lickety split!! I hope to finish the sewing tonight and have DH help with the stapling. I do wonder what a seamstress would have charged for this project.

Poindextra, remind us what caused the hole that you are working on filling. What a project this has been for you!

Bea, dealing with a mental disorder calls for the tough love you demonstrated. You can only control your own behavior; neighbors, etc. will figure her out eventually. I don't know what counseling is available for a hypochondriac--is that what you think she is? Sorry this is on your plate.

Time to dress for crossfit class and get back into the routine of packing my lunch.

Hope all have a great day!!
