Nell, I don't remember, is your mother also diabetic? DH's mother suddenly started to metabolize her meds differently, and would pass out in the middle of the night - and by morning, she was convinced she was dead. Do you think your mother's call might be something like that, that her meds might be kicking in at a different time and it makes her feel very different?

Donna, I know what you mean about being exhausted after a long day of driving! Rest up!

Bess, would large clear packing boxes help you sort and store the fabrics? That's what I finally did in my classroom for the fabrics we used for the Afro-Caribbean quilts I'd make with my students. (The cheap plastic boxes came from KMart, and stacked easily.) Oh, and you might try wrapping that toe in gauze and tape - to make a cushion for it. Helps protect it in shoes and just walking around.

Econlady, a 3-D cookie animal? Wow, sounds amazing! What do you use to mold the head? I've seen chocolate modeled into animals, is that what you're using?

So, finally got in to see my asthma dr today, and will start 3 weeks of antibiotics when my pharmacy gets the meds in tomorrow. Apparently I've been colonized by this bacteria - doesn't that sound just horrible? I have visions of being a modern Typhoid Mary!!!! My dr assured me it isn't that bad. She also wants me to get a nebulizer, which I've been resisting for years. But, well, I'll go look at the travel size ones tomorrow.

Hi folks, had a good workday, except for the low headache that came on around 4 pm and is still with me. It's sapped all my energy, so early to bed with me!

Nell, hugs to you.
Sleep well my friends!

Good Morning!

We had a really good weekend. An excellent speaker. He taught about Elijah. A girl who I've had in my Sunday School class for several years, finally dedicated her life to Christ and was baptized. That was the high point. The low point was when I tripped on a small root and fell. I like saying the flying is kind of fun, but the landing is a killer. I landed on a rib and that rib is killing me! So I have to be careful how I move. Malia really listened to the sermons. She had a lot of tears. So she was very receptive to the teaching. Good things are happening.

Good morning.

As I was finishing up my 4 bean salad yesterday I started to hear thunder. About the time we were to head down the street, the rain started, so we ended up not going. I saw the kids riding around on their bikes in the rain, it's an adventure when you are little, not so much at our age. Oh well. Tonight we eat at Cracker Barrel with friends.

I spent two hours yesterday ironing linens for church. Bess, the sacristy has a bank of wide, deep drawers for the various linens, they are stock from somewhere. The quality isn't great but they work. All companies that make cabinets made wide drawer units, but showrooms only show kitchen and bathroom components, not enough people require linen storage to make it worthwhile to take up showroom space. I'll bet you can find some by contacting a company directly.

Mom sent an email last night saying she was dying, she needed help. When I called this morning, she had no memory of that email, didn't know what I was talking about. All of her anguished emails come in the evening, classic sundowning. The new place can't open soon enough.

Bess broken toes are awful! The only good thing about mine, was that after it was better I had a straight baby toe .

Maree it sounds like you are having a great vacation.

Again thank you everyone for being there for me. When I tried to talk to hubby about he didnít understand the problem. This morning I realized why. While we were first dating he worked as a college professor of economics. Of course a bigger crowd is not a problem to him. Iím more the tutor type. Too many people and personalities throw me off and I canít concentrate. I guess thatís why women prefer to talk to girlfriends.

Iím still working on. My entry for the cookie cruise. Itís a 3D animal. I was afraid the large one wouldnít work so Iím doing a large one and a little one. Hopefully, one of them will work. Iíve glued it together (with icing), trimmed and smoothed out, and Iíve put fondant on the underside and legs, today Iíll try to fix the flaws and do the rest of the body except the head. The head has to be hand molded. This way beyond anything Iíve ever attempted before.

Have a good day everyone!

Maree! Roy Rogers! Till we meet again! Thanks for a memory jog. And enjoy that staycation. I usually tried to have one of those in the fall when I still worked. Now everyday is staycation and it's a joy.
Toni - thanks, hon. I really did a number on that toe. Worse than that - I'd been having this little urge to go put shoes on all morning and just kept telling myself - in a minute, in a minute. Up till I ran into a stack of book filled boxes and wham. So there was a wee bit of guilty shame included. Even then I just put shoes on and kept on sorting and clearing and by dinnertime my stomach was hurting as well as the toe. So yeah - a day off it and an easy day yesterday were called for. It's much better but still tender. Enjoy that show, now.
Phebess - I think a little something new is fun too. And earrings take up so little space.
Econlady - good for you for knowing your limits and explaining them to others. Thanks for commiserating with me about my toe.
Poindextra - yay for a productive weekend!
Bea - welcome back
Kellie - That is a lot of bike riding! Funny how dogs love to go along. I need only leave the car door open and I come back to find two of 'em sitting in the back seat.
Sunny - that day of art studio tours sounds like heaven to me. In fact - I know there's one around here someplace and I'm going to go on it this year!
Donna - I think God must love weddings. So glad the weather was good after all
Nell - how was the block party?

Thinking of Jamir and all the other south east coast maintainers. Stay safe.

Yesterday I put shoes on and walked around a bit. Still feel that toe but it really is better - but zero real exercise. We struggled with a kitchen cabinet pull out drawer kit for one of the studio cabinets and gave up. DH did all the struggling and I did all the sympathizing but in the end it just isn't worth it - these cheap cabinets are NOT made for pull out drawers. So I will buy bins to keep the different types of fabric sorted. Heck - I did that for my refrigerator meat locker too - and life ended up being much easier. Cheap sloppy drawers are just ubiquitous these days. A lot of civic organizations I'm in start up this week - happily 3 of them meet on Tuesdays so I can bundle them into a single trip to town. Even retired people get to experience that September Sensation.

Good morning!

Maree, your post sounded like the Ďend of summer,í but Iím guessing you have some nice days on the water ahead.
Bess, I didnít realize how disabling your toe injury was. I am so sorry to hear that you are Ďlaid up,í as we used to say. I know youíll make the best of the time, but still hard for an active woman!
Kellie, love that you could do ALL of that for your DH and still get your workout in.
Phebess, I sure know what you mean about liking something new even though unneeded. Earrings are a nice fixónot big space grabbers, lol!
Econ, well done navigating all those demands.
Jamir, hoping you are okay. The storm sure looks like it is on itís way though.
Poindextra, hope going back to work isnít too shocking. Got a post from Spark about how to go back after a long weekend, lol. I guess the bottom line was Ďembrace the return to routine.í
Donna, love that the wedding worked out for the couple and guests. LOL about not staying for all the dancing. At the wedding we went to in France we disappeared about then too. Meanwhile if you are parents of the couple, do you need to stay to the end???? Considering that for next year at our sonís wedding. Iíll have to prop my eyelids open if that is the case.

Well off I go to pack up and make sure I have all I need for NYC. Excited to be with our friends, and to see the show. Weight is not dropping in spite of stellar behavior on my part. But staying the course. Toni

Good morning!

And a good night's sleep, it was! After the morning birthday party, saying farewell to all of our company, we sat at the kitchen table with MIL and talked for a couple of hours, then back to the houseboat. DH took a john boat ride to walk an island to scout. Although we considered spending the night, I went ahead and packed up, vacuumed etc. When DH returned, we decided sleep on our home mattress was a higher priority and headed home. Plus now I can attend my usual crossfit class. Working outside is on the agenda today. I'm awaiting the forecast to see when I can paint the lightposts.

Econlady, glad you took control of the cookie decorating lesson.

Bess, don't we take those toes for granted?! Hope your little toe heals quickly.

Safe travel wishes for Toni and Donna. As they used to sing, "Happy Trails to you!" (That song popped into my head as we hiked Sunday, as we often follow deer paths).

Time to dress for crossfit class. Hope all have a great day!!
