I called my best friend and she told me what to do. I contacted the people with kids and told them the kids would have trouble with following everything for so long and we can bring them into the last part and the moms can teach the kids. The one mom is going to bring an x-box and they can do it in the back bedroom or she can hubby to take them to the park. As to my niece inviting herself, I talked to my niece in-law and told her no she canít drop in, Iím not prepared for another person. I can work with her on a separate date, I feel better that I took care of the situation and stood up for myself. I know what I can handle and it was becoming too much. Thank you everyone for listening! Youíre the best!

Econlady, do you think it would help to have the people working in small groups? Maybe three people per group, working on a batch of cookies together. I'm thinking that way they could share supplies, and you could move from group to group to help out so it might be easier to hear each person. You could set up different stations, maybe one at each end of the dining room table and then a third group in the kitchen or even outside if you have a picnic table. I used to do group projects sometimes in class, and while it gets lonely in a middle school class, I think it might work well for you. (and the kids like working as a group because usually there's one person who has trouble, and the others in the group can help them.)

Donna, so glad it cleared up for the wedding!

Jamir, are you getting hurricane force winds or rain, or is Dorian far enough out to sea that you aren't getting much? The poor Bahamas look like they are just inundated with this one!

We tried going to a nearby restaurant that has great breakfasts, and I walked down the hill to make our reservations - but they had a 30 minute wait, and DH just wasn't interested in waiting that long, so we went elsewhere. He managed to do a bit of shopping, and I found a lovely pair of earrings to buy. I really don't need more clothes, but it's nice to get just a little something new.

Iím stressing out. I invited my great niece (15 years old) up to decorate cookies. While I was inviting her mom wanted to do it also and another nieces wife. Thatís fine I can handle 3. Then a friend heard about it and asked to join and I said okay. I have made them goody bags for supplies to start decorating and Iím sending them home with dough, royal icing and a rolling pin. A couple of days ago one said she was bringing her two boys. Okay they can watch tv in the bedroom or go to the park. Today I find out my nephew is coming to hang out with half siblings and another niece is inviting herself and might show up. This is out of control. We talked and my nephew is going hiking with the siblings. Still it feels out of control. I keep telling myself that things have a way of working out, but Iím still stressed. I was a tutor not teacher and too many people stress me out because I canít distinguish voices when in a crowd. Advice please!

Just a quick hello/goodnight from me. It's been a great productive weekend, and I only put in 2 hours of office work. Now to bed to get up early for the workday tomorrow.
Sleep well!

Stick a fork in me, I'm DONE!

DH's bday is always around labor day so he gets to call the shots on labor day weekend. We usually ride the motorcycles and do some bicycle riding too. It was the annual two wheel, holiday/birthday weekend. Yesterday was a long day on the motorcycles with a bunch of people.

This morning he went out for a solo ride so I did the Jessica Smith Zumba Dance party video. When he got home, he wanted to go for a bicycle ride. 2 1/2 miles in, the people from yesterday's ride called and asked if we want to go out today. We rode home, changed clothes and headed out on the motorcycles to meet them.

Zoe, the pitbul came along on the ride today. She loves to be on the back of our friend's bike. She has her own Harley vest (that attaches to the bike so she's safe) and riding goggles. I'm normally afraid of pitbulls but she is very sweet.

4am will be here before I know it for my work downtown day. Thank goodness for a short week!

Econ I love to fall asleep in front of the TV and I wish I could just stay asleep through the night.

Maree. 1st birthdays are the most fun for the grown ups.
Donna the wedding sounds like it was a real successful event, now be careful going home
Toni I love theater in New york and try to see the really special ones there
Bess do take care
Nell the parent aging process has very few if any up sides. I found it really helpful to understand the stages of dementia because this is one problem that has no good solution.

We spent a perfect day in Santa Barbara yesterday. Those of you who go to the east coast towns or lovely nearby lakes understand the how great it feels to just walk along the waters edge. The art studio tour was fun although there were fewer artis participating this year. My DH went to several of his favorite people and had a great time talking ďart shopĒ. We looked at how the artists did their studio layout and got great idea. At the end of the afternoon we stopped at our favorite fresh fish market and bought some scallops. A little expensive but fresh is definitely the best. Back to packing

Maree have a nice vacation.
I slept better, but Still not enough. Iím so tired at night Iím falling asleep in weird places and catching myself as Iím falling over. Then I hit the bed and Iím wide awake. For some reason I can fall asleep in front of the tv and when I wake up go to bed and sleep well. I donít understand that one.

It is now official, we are the old people and left just before the dancing happened. Dh had sat enough so it was time to take him home.

Today is packing day and getting ready for the trip home. I know I will have to do most of it but thatís ok.

Warching .the massive storm Dorion yesterday was quite frightening. I hope everyone is safe from itís path. Letís hope it misses the coastal US completely.

Maree - I know that feeling of wishing people would get up and get going! Morning people just have to be patient and hide their yawns after 9 o'clock. What adorable grandchildren you have. Congratulations
Toni - whew - glad no one was hurt nor damage done to your dock. I never get tired of live theater either. Or live concerts. Enjoy!
Econlady - I'm so sorry about your insomnia - it not only robs your night, it steals your day too
Phebess - I'm mostly a knitter but I will look through my patterns and see if I have any - Nicky Epstein has great book of crochet flower patterns so check your public library too. Did you make it to the beach?
Kellie - way to go! 5 miles! Thanks for being my inspiration
Donna - did the rain stop? What was plan B? Bet it was fun anyway
Nell - I just bet waiting is hard. Hope you don't have too much of it.

Thinking of Jamirblaze today as the wind and rain attack.

In the end I spent the day lolling in bed with my foot up. just a few minutes walking on that foot made my whole leg ache and I had a fun light novel to enjoy. I'm a lot better and the bruising is fading. It's actually more comfortable to go barefoot. Nothing got done on the studio but DH promises me he'll go to town and get contact cement to glue sheets of cork on the sides of the cabinets. Those will be my idea boards.

I got serious about cleaning up my eating and exercise routines yesterday. Not that I can do any real exercise till this toe is well, but I can schedule some to begin soon. I know how to eat a healthy diet - I've just indulged too much in BLT's (Bites, Licks, Tastes). Working on a plan and planning to work it.

Batten things down, y'all who are in Dorian's reach.

Good morning to this last day of summer when the pools all close for the season.

Maree, enjoy your DGS's party. Toni, I used to love going into NYC. Now I don't want to go near the place, even though I have a DGD at Columbia. I'm too old, I guess.

We have an end of summer block party this afternoon. I'm making a WW 4 bean salad. It's vegan so the vegetarians will have another option. This afternoon I have to do a bunch of ironing for the church, the first half of September is my turn this year.

Enjoy the holiday!

Good morning!

Heading back to the city today as we are traveling to NYC on Tuesday. We are meeting friends and going to see Hamilton. Excited to see this acclaimed show on Broadway with good friends. I am sure the discussions will be fun. Have seen a handful of things in my lifetime there, and for the most part, have memorable experiences. For a west coast girl, it always seems big no matter how many times I experience live theatre.

Meanwhile working hard to eat and exercise right now.

Have a great day, everyone. Toni

Good morning! Happy Labor Day!

Econlady, I can relate to the sleeping troubles--except I wake up too early. This morning I awoke at about 2 am and finally got up and started the coffee about 2:30. I've been "sparking" mostly since then. Sigh... only about 5 hours of sleep.

I'm so excited to be on vacation; I want to get the day started!! Alas, most of the rest of the world is sleeping! So bouncing around the internet and people I follow is enjoyable, and available at all hours!

Toni, I agree that "water toys" are so much fun, but one must respect the dangers. Every year, tragic accidents, deaths are reported. Safety is paramount. Glad your jetski incident had a happy ending and think he was lucky to meet up with you and your sweet husband with skills to share!

Once again, a great hike and a cloudy houseboat ride turned into a beautiful sunshiny day yesterday! Thanks for sweet comments on pics. Today the highlight is a 1st birthday party for grandson at MIL's house at 10 am this morning. I will be surprised if everyone shows up that early, but I thought DH's daughter would want to get on the road as it's about a 5 hr drive. But I forget, some people have a totally different view of driving at night.

Okay, I better get this posted. I might even lay back down for a early Labor Day nap. LOL

Hope all have a great day!!
