Hi all - it was one of those days where I just didn't feel all there, you know? I went out for my walk, and came back and told DH that I didn't know why, but I didn't feel like my usual cheerful self, so that if he didn't mind, I was going to bury myself in a book and ignore the rest of the day. He was okay with that, so that's what I did. Skipped the internet, skipped TV, read a book. It was kind of nice.

Good Morning !

I'm taking Bernie to a doctor appointment this morning. This will give Malia some time away from Bernie. She needs it. She even has a good reason to not go along. Malia has a doctor appointment here in town that I'm not sure we'll get back in time for her to get to it. Malia said that Bernie was disappointed, but understanding.

Good morning.

I have to leave in half an hour to pick Mom up to take her to the neurologist. I need another incompetency letter to be able to move her without her approval. I hope to get the second letter on Thursday. They have to be renewed every 6 months, which is a pain. Here's hoping that this time she remembers, and I don't have to race around looking for her. Usually when she forgets something it isn't a bid deal, this one is.

I didn't think we got much rain last night, I slept through it, but this morning I found out we had flooding at the condo so it was more than I thought. More pop up storms later today are predicted, no telling where they will be.

Toni, it's been decades since I was on a jet ski, but you couldn't fit more than one person on them. I remember lying in the water with it, then standing up as I increased speed and it lifted up like a motorized surfboard.

Bess, did you sign a contract for the dock yet?

Kelli, sounds like you need a new mug.

Donna, Alzheimers hits people in their 60s all too often, if that's the diagnosis. I'm so sorry.

Econ, it will be interesting to see if your allergy is to a food, or to a strange ingredient and you have to start reading tiny print on packages.

Time to get ready to get Mom.

Thanks for the nice words everyone. I managed to get the icing on my cookie yesterday so it could dry overnight. To be a successful you have to flow with problems and adjust. But it means to me that adds to the fun.

Yesterday I saw the ENT and she is now focusing on my allergies. She orders a broad allergy blood test. Never heard of it before. She is also referring me to an allergist. I also have an appointment next week to start physical therapy on my shoulder.

This morning while taking my oatmeal out of the microwave I spilled about half of it including on my hand and big toe. It hurt, but I quickly got it under cold water and it stings a little, but it’s not blistering so I’m okay. I really am a mess!

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning! Accident on the way to work slowed me way down, so I'm running behind. Thankfully, nothing on the schedule until later in the morning. I'm out tomorrow for dad's cataract removal, so I need to get some things together.

Maree - I should join LinkedIn, finally. I'm looking at a big pivot, however. Career switch.

Bess - You're exactly right. I've been increasingly unhappy for some time. Combined with personal things, it's put me in bad head space, and my health has suffered.

Econlady - I love hearing the details as a baking enthusiast. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Should get to it. Hope you all have a great day!

Morning all, what a lot of news so early this morning. I am in a different time zone now so I am talking to the group two hours earlier than usual.

Today we are heading to lake country to visit my fami,y. I have not seen them yet so it will be nice to catch up. My brother and other sister will be there too. It is going to be a very bittersweet visit with my one sister. She is developing dementia and it is so very hard to see the decline in the last few years. This might be the last really good visit we have. She will be 66 next week so this is very young to see this decline. There has been many changes in her personality in the last few years. I am grateful that we are able to see her now.

We had a thunderstorm last night. We do not get them on the west coast so it sure reminded me of when we lived here.

Hello from high atop downtown Chicago. Quite humid. The train was comfortable but the shuttle bus was SO cold! The office is stuffy. I feel icky!

As I got out of the car at the train station, I leaned back in to grab some tissue and the travel coffee mug I stuck in the side pocket of my backpack opened up and spilled onto my back. EEEEYOW! That hurt. That stupid coffee mug never stays shut.

I got mad, put it in the car, like I'm teaching it a lesson or something and noticed my work badge I would have left if I hadn't scalded my back. Everything happens for a reason?

At least I'm wearing brown, it blends in.

Okay, the day can only get better from here right? Need coffee!

Econlady, you are so talented! Donna, that was so wonderful you got to see the pinning ceremony.

Good morning from me, as well.
Maree - yes. it does sound like things are moving. The marine construction guy called yesterday and said he'd booked a smaller pile driver for the end of September. This sounds like this new dock might just happen!
Phebess - that was just about the scariest and saddest thing to happen in the town where I grew up. the one thing good that came out of it was that I made very good friends with that neighbor. My mother did all the good neighbor things and one day when I was taking over a dish we spent some time together just chatting. She had night blindness and worked all day. She asked me if I would drive her shopping once a week - in return I could use her company card for gas in my car. We became very good friends that year and I never abused her trust. And I remember gas was 27 cents a gallon. oh la - memories. I guess that's why we are inundated with all these "anniversaries" of events.
Oh Poindextra - don't you just love hair day?
Sunny - heh heh - I don't blame him. I'm even jealous of the owner of that studio - oh wait! That's me! I hope he gets just the right space for his art in the new house. That movie sounds fascinating.
Kellie - oh please do that! Oh how I would have loved for the leader of some of the tedious conference calls I had to sit in on to have said something like that!!! SO cool. and yes. attitude adjustment is sometimes the only thing that works.
Bea - hope things smooth out for you
Econlady - that was absolutely fascinating. Thank you for explaining some of the processes. I think it's cool, too, how you figured out a new way to use your old tools. I think the lightly tinted white pumpkin sounds beautiful.
Jamirblaze - good for you. You really do have only one life - and work takes up so much of it - I hope you find something that is more rewarding than shivering in winter and sweating in summer.
Donna - how cool you could watch your granddaughter's ceremony. And wow - congratulations to her. Like Maree said - she will be a reading machine.
Nell - there's something to be said for down days.
Toni - did you get any rain last night ? WE didn't, but we got the cooler temps.

The next few days I'll be working hard at home on my commission. I'd like to have it done by the weekend or early next week. We're going up to visit our kids & family on Thursday and Friday I have a play date with a girlfriend. I also put a lid on the mindless eating yesterday - it's only one day - but it's a start.

Good morning!

I enjoyed reading everyone’s posts from yesterday. It was a newsy day!

Sunny, I admire your making the move you need for you and your DH. Is it bitter sweet moving from the beach?
Maree-glad your gym is back! Have a good travel day. And thank you for sending us some cool weather. I’ll be watching the mailbox because boy is it hot here!
Bess, hurrah for progress on the dock project.
Nell, I bet you’ll be watching for that post of cool weather from Maree as well.
Donna and Jamir - streaming and facetime and quick photos. We can share so much more. I swear it is keeping our spread out family linked and I am so grateful. Imagine saying good bye to a family moving across the country and fully expecting not to see them at all, or infrequently! That was certainly part of my parents’ and grandparents’ generational situatins.
Econ, your description gave me a much better idea of how you work on a big project. Wow!
Poindextra - appreciated your text from “the chair” while getting your hair colored and cut!
Kellie - I am visualizing you at your desk lifting weights while people drone on...in a conference call. Been there...
Bea, I need to get to your blog. Sounds like interesting times for you.

As expected, our guests were delightful. We had 3 of the kindest, most polite and good kids I’ve been with for awhile. The boys were 12 and just so open and excited to be on the water. DH took them tubing and on a jet ski. There was no one on the lake yesterday so he has each of them drive (with DH along) and they were so pumped up. As one boy put it at dinner, “I know there are lots of kids in my school who have been on a jet ski, but I bet I’m the only one who got to DRIVE.”. Such pride and joy and innocence. The little girl, 8, was a water bug. She’s two years into swim lessons and now could not get enough—once we assured her there were no jelly fish or sharks in Lake Anna!

Back to routine and business today. And yes, Bess, may I draft on your efforts to get back on track, please! Toni

Good morning!

Good for you, Jamirblaze--hope just the right opportunity comes your way. I am so grateful for the change that came my way through a LinkedIn recruiter email.

A dock sounds a bit closer, Bess! Is there room for workouts in your studio? Video trainers, maybe?

Hope you now have a functional coffee pot, Phebess. Essential!

Congrats to your granddaughter gaining admission to law school, Donna. I hope she likes it; lots of reading.

Interesting, Econlady! We'll all be watching for pictures of that white pumpkin carriage.

Thunderstorms coming through later today. So I'm not sure I'll be bicycling with DH after work. I'm traveling today.

High fives to the rest of the team!
Time to dress for crossfit class and pack my lunch. Hope all have a great day!
