Sunny, I figured I'd wait until my vision is worse before I worry about glasses or eventually surgery. Overall, my vision is about 20-30 - though for most of my life, it was 20-15. That right eye is about 20-50 - so glasses might help for a while. But mostly, I just can tell I have problems reading signs in rooms - and I'm fine with road signs. So until this impacts my life, I'll keep ignoring it.

Nell, hitting your head that hard isn't good - are you sure you're doing okay?

Econlady, good for you for helping your nephew (great nephew?) with calculus - sometimes teachers get so caught up in explaining the formulas, they skip the reason this branch of math exists. Some people need that why, they need to understand the purpose, not just the how to process the formulas. (And then there are the people who just love pure math for the theory and principles, and don't care about every using any of it.)

I had a follow up with the asthma dr at 9, and DH had his PT appt at 9:15 - took a little coordinating to get us both at our appts on time, but then he called to tell me his was really 9:45 so he'd be late to pick me up. Then my dr was running late, and wanted a blood test - so by the time I was done, it was roughly the time he'd be driving over to get me. So I started walking down the road to meet him - and of course, he drove right by me and up to my dr's building. I turned around and walked back, shaking my head. He does this all the time - just drives right by me!!! I always hope he's focusing on the traffic, but you'd think he'd pay some attention to pedestrians too, LOL!

At TOPS this morning,, I had a half pound gain.. I've been puttering around the house most of today. I picked up a prescription for my elderly friend and took it to her.

Robert and I walked this evening for a mile. Neither one of us had any energy. I don't know if its the air pressure or what. I feel like I really pushed myself to walk 28 minutes per mile. This morning, I walked at 21 minutes per mile. Big difference!

Hi there, friends,

I have had a busy day with scattered appointments, one of them a massage which was grand. Now I have dinner in the oven and am closing out the day.

Nell, glad you are recovering and optimistic. Econ, a good tutor is worth gold, I think. there are math junctures when a tutor is the world—wish I’d had one.

Time for dinner. will be a more present team member tomorrow!

Hello every one. Woke up with the moon this morning and went back to sleep around 6:30. Off schedule all day but hey - I'm retired. Don't need a schedule.

Except that DH uses the computer all day so I'm checking in here on a phone. Clumsy as an elephant on stilts

On thing coming to the new studio will be my own computer

Happy hump day y'all

Maree nice that your SIL will walk that early. I follow a modified keto plan just like you. Occasionally I go out to lunch and have some spaghetti but otherwise low carb.
Nell I am so glad that you didn’t have anything worse than a bump on the head.
Econ I agree that math lovers sometimes do not help the rest of us actually learn the subject.
Donna a nice evening for you. I should try to get in some water aerobics but life is a bit crazy now.
Jamir even now after being retired getting up early is sometimes hard. I like to get up and get started so that I do my exercise.
Phebess cataracts are very sneaky. The optometrist told me 3 years ago that one had started but was small. The next year she said very little change, the following year she said we could plan the surgery or wait it wasn’t a problem. But 6 months later I was having real problems seeing and had to have the surgery.

Today we are off to Newport Beach to spend the night and to see an outdoor jazz concert in a beautiful venue this evening. my oldest friend (both in age and years) and I meet up for this concert each summer. She lives a lot closer so I would drive and pick her up and we would share a hotel room. But this year she is bringing a guy friend so I am taking my DH. The 4 of should have a good time.

Happy hump day! Late into the office after a hearing this morning. Friend was up for visitors, and it was less than 2 miles away, so I went there for about an hour and walked with her. She's doing pretty well, considering, but she had a slight complication where they had to remove a small part of her bowel, so she's stuck until her digestive track is back on track. Clear liquids only, and she's starving. She's hopeful for tomorrow for discharge, but may be Friday.

Huge hospital with three parking garages (pay of course). Took a bit to figure it out.

Nell - Glad you're doing better!

Econlady - The more that I look back at my math education, the more that I am convinced that math education largely hinges on the teacher and that many teachers struggle to find ways to teach math in ways that students understand. I struggled in Algebra I & II, but did well at Pre-Calc Algebra and Calculus. All about how it's taught.

Today, I naturally woke up just before the 5am alarm, so I'm getting more in the swing of things of getting up early. Tomorrow, a workout, I think. Ideally, I'd leave the house between 6:30-6:45 everyday, but some days are easier than others.

I've got to go move some piles. Hope that everyone has a good one!

We had such a lovely evening last night. It was so good to see the “kids” and catch up with their lives.

Today I have a little running around to do and I will make dinner for the family. I am sure Doreen will appreciate not having to cook when she gets home from work. I am missing my water aerobics and starting to feel a little stiff from not moving enough. I should get some walking in when I am out today.

Nell I hope you feel better soon. You talked about leaving early and I had you beat, by a lot. When I was working I was at work somewhere between 5 and 6 in the morning, and it was a half hour commute! Now getting up at 6 is crazy early.

I contacted the doctor and I’m going to do physical therapy on my left shoulder. It’s trying to turn into a frozen shoulder.

The other night I got a text from my niece looking for help for her son. He’s 17 and talking calculus over the summer and totally lost. I called him and gave him my 5 minute lecture about calculus. I simply told him how to approach calculus and gave him the basics. When we were done I asked if he understood. He said yes he gets it and now knows what to do. He asked me why no one explained it to him this way before. It was nice to know my tutoring skills were still there. It’s funny calculus isn’t tough, but it’s taught by people that love math theory and they think theory is the only was to approach it.

Have a good day!

Good morning.

My days of leaving the house early are long gone. For years I left for work at 6:45, once we both retired, that was gone. It's hard enough to leave at 7:20 on Sunday mornings for church.

I do feel better, though I have a knot on the back of head where I must have hit the bathroom counter going down. I have no memory of it, there's a lesson in there somewhere.

Have a great day!

Good morning! Hump day!

The bicycle ride to the park was enjoyable--saw some fellow gym members walking. I rode through the gym's parking lot on my way back to see if anything was happening. The heavy equipment to completely resurface the parking lot was in place. I contacted my SIL (who is retired) and asked if she ever walked at 6 am; she said no, but she would make an exception for a couple of days so I am meeting her this morning! Yaaay! Looking forward to catching up. We've been friends since we were 15 yrs old!!

Glad you feel better, Nell. Hope you can avoid triggers that bring that on.

I don't really follow KETO but try to eat only healthy carbs (vegetables and ltd fruit) and avoid processed carbs. Gut health is important to me as it's our second brain. Avoiding processed carbs has helped me to eliminate cravings. Sugar and sweeteners are avoided except on the rarest of occasions.

Oooo, time to dress for my walk. Hope all have a great day!!
