Today was one of those busy days where I did all kinds of things but I'm not sure where the time went. More yarn, more separating colors and getting ready for the afghan I have in mind. I'm hoping my crochet skills are up to it - it doesn't look complicated, but it means making a batch of flowers in various colors, adding leaves, and then crocheting frames around each flower. I suspect it will require a lot of focus and counting - not always easy when DH wants to chat. I may need to look into stitch markers - or maybe I could just use safety pins.

Good afternoon

We ate out for breakfast again this morning. Then we attended Church Worship Service. That church has changed a lot since my mother went there. There were people there that aren't really welcome in most churches. Like ones dealing with drug and alcohol addiction. These people need the redeeming love of Christ also.

We skipped lunch again. We're just not hungry. I bought some bananas to snack on. We're home now.

Best wishes to all the birthday celebrants!

Hubby and I are digesting lunch. I picked up more fill dirt this morning, but still need to dispense it all down the hole.

Worked for a little over 2 hours last night and am happy with what I accomplished. I'll do more this afternoon or evening. Still need to grill chicken for my lunches, but am enjoying the down time right now.

Have a great day!

Good morning!

Happy bd to your DH, Maree, and it is also our youngest son’s birthday. Lots to celebrate on this evening of shooting stars/meteor showers.

What a beautiful reunion story, Bess. And the ending—a perfect nightcap.

Econ, Bess is right. Some people won’t be changing and we do our best and then have to let it go. A sad thing.

We’ve had wonderful weather for our family weekend and lots of good water time. Off to kayak along side the SUP’s. We’ll be a 4 person flotilla!

Good morning.

Happy Birthday to your DH, Maree! Recognizing weight loss at time landmarks like birthdays is exhilarating!

I'm off in a few minutes to go to Mom's with DS#3, Mom won't be there and he can tell me if he wants any of her furniture when we do the move she doesn't know about yet. Then we'll go out to eat. It's been awhile since I've been in a restaurant with 2 little kids.

Nell
Reston, Virginia (DC suburbs)

No one ever got up in the morning wishing she'd eaten more the night before.

Thank you Maree - and everyone else for your kind hugs yesterday and today. It is a little shocking to have so many cancer victims in such a small community and everyone is wondering what effects are caused by agricultural chemicals and practices. I have 2 close family members working in the field of cancer research, from different, sometimes opposing points of view. Much work is being done but much work still needs to be done. That's about all any of us lay people can know.

The reunion and all it's loving companionship was a comfort - for sure. counting toddlers and babies there were 75 people present. With 2 grands to show off, this was the first time I really didn't get a chance to eat at all. I have NEVER left the reunion hungry before but I sure did last night. I told DH that if we hadn't gone out to eat the night before I'd make him take me out on the way home. But there were some rockfish in the fridge that I cut into little bite sized pieces and sauteed with pepper - we ate them like party food, on the back porch, with glasses of white wine. It was a soft gentle close to a day of perfect weather and immense loving kindness.

Econlady - good to hear you had some time with your daughter. I have a niece who is touchy like that - hot and cold and most of the time holed up within herself. All we can do is love her when she's near by and let her withdraw when she wants to.
Phebess - it is always good to by More Yarn. LOL .... of course - I could mail you some from my stash.
Poindextra - hooray for the good sleep you're getting. Last night's cool dry VA summer weather made for good sleeping here on the farm.
Nell - thank you honey. It's amazing how many families have one ...sometimes more ... members who just walk away. But it behooves us to remember that our words can be what drives them off.
Donna - August is still summer, but isn't it interesting how it always holds a wee bit of autumn in it? and thank you for the hugs
Bea - enjoy that H.S. reunion
Kellie - all that foot rub and leg massage is the my favorite part of the pedicure too. And having my toes all neat and tidy. I do enjoy nail polish but I'm working to heal my big toe nail so going bare this summer

Warm hugs to you all again today - and to the maintainers who only have time to read, as well. there are 2 new studio photos on today's blog, in case you were curious.

Good morning!!

Today is DH's birthday--a brand new man, down 50 lbs from last year! We are at DD's, and will attend DGD's birthday party, being held at her gymnastics gym this afternoon. We'll open his presents and cards, too.

Notice how late this is? I slept well!! Yaaaaaay! I was able to get back to sleep after having woke up at 2:00 am.

Interesting hike on the island yesterday. Since it had been under water from about Feb to July, the vegetation is just returning so no poison ivy threat like the Conservation areas in the bluffs where we've been going. Pretty easy walking, comparatively.

Bess, I'm so sorry about all the losses of friends in your community. It does make you wonder. I listened to a podcast interview of Dr Jason Fung last week and he is researching the food connection and cancer. He provided an update on how the research has changed. A large percentage of cancers are associated with Obesity -- cell growth. With both of my parents having died of cancer, I've always been interested in the research. He admits it's complex, but is tackling it because SO much money has been spent on research and treatments, but still so much to learn about the root cause and prevention. I hope the love at the family reunion lifted your spirits.

Econlady, good job on the connection with your daughter, even if a bit awkward. Hopefully, it's a start and you can keep it going, even if only a moderate, unintrusive contact now and then to ask how she is and let her know you care.

I better get this posted! I hope all have a great day!!
