They call that glamping Phebess. That would work for me now too....

Hope the headache has abated.

Maree, yes, headache is one of the possible side effects. Talked to the dr's office today, they said skip the pill today, resume tomorrow - spend today taking it easy and hydrating. I think I've had over 100 oz of tea, herbal tea, and water today!!!

Bess, yay for discount furniture!!! Will you paint the cupboards, or is the current finish okay?

Toni, I can't even imagine the stress of buying or selling a house - and your description is exactly why I've avoided doing so!!! ACK!

Nell, hope your stomach is back to normal soon - takes a few days, doesn't it?

Poindextra, competence and knowledge in a dr is probably preferable to warmth and a good bedside manner, at least in terms of identification or monitoring what's going on. My orthopedic surgeon was an excellent surgeon, but was rather abrupt and didn't really explain things much ahead of time. I think he was kind of shy, and he warmed up over the period of time I went to him - but he definitely did not exude warmth nor caring. But he did a great job on my knee replacement!

Jamir, at least the roofers are willing to come out and assess what's going on. Hope you can find a chimney person and get some answers!

Kellie, I hope that project wraps up soon - seems like it's going on forever!

Sunny, the beach sounds wonderful right about now!!!

Econlady, safe travels and happy feet! Donna, you too!

We camped a bit around New Zealand - we rented a camper, and ended up with an upgrade to a big camper that could sleep 5!!! Was very comfy, and it had a full bathroom so we could camp in the middle of nowhere, which was fun. But we never figured out how to make the hot water heater work (there was a pilot light to turn on and light somewhere but we couldn't find it) - so ever few days we stayed in a campground so I could have a hot shower. Really enjoyed the camping, though - the stars were great!!! Spent nights at scenic overlooks with no one else around!!!

Sorry I haven't been on here for awhile. I was on vacation 2 weeks ago, and then a day after arriving home, I came down with a cold. I'm feeling much better now.

Maree it does feel like it is your fault that it rains when you get the car washed.
Bea I love camping but my DH and DD put an end to it when she got into high school.
Bess what an interesting thing to do about a local celebrity. Getting a discount on those expensive cabinets is a good thing and having appropriate furniture will be better in the long run.
Toni that was a fun about seeing the Smithsonian exhibits, things from my childhood and things that were from my mom’s childhood. When we go on car trips, we bring everything and more than we need. When we travel by plane it is a struggle to keep it to a small suitcase and carry on.
Toni how much worse it must be to watch the house purchase of children from afar, it is a process of paper, phone calls, emails and waiting.

I also agree about competent doctors. I have had several specialists who were very clinical, up front about the issues and not sympathetic during the recovery. But the outcomes were great.

Kelliebean it is lovely to sit back and watch the water shoreline.

Stiggy a quiet day inside when it is hot outside always appeals to me. Can you get out early to do errands?

Well we have been having the best summer weather here along the beach. A little foggy in the morning and then lovely sunny days. I hate to say anything because the weather can turn to really hot as we get closer to the start of school and Labor Day. I did get out for a walk yesterday with my neighbor. We used to do a brisk walk but she got sweet little Yorkie and likes to take it with us. So, it is no longer an energetic walk but a lovely stroll with the dog. I am off to walk by myself this morning. My weight is closing in on the scream weight and my summer shorts are feeling a little tight. May get to the gym tomorrow.

Good Morning

Its going to be another hot day. that makes a good day to stay inside and do inside jobs. I really need to do my knee and back exercises. I've missed them the last few days. Thats one goal for the day.

Wow what s busy group this morning. Another beautiful summer day here and like the previous I will enjoy as much as I can.

I agree with the comments about camping. I am past the point of using outhouses and sleeping on the ground. Give me a comfy mattress and bathroom facilities and I am happy.

Poindextra. I too would rather have a doctor I felt comfortable with his diagnosis than a good bedside manner. Our health is too important to be dealing with a personable quack.

Today of course I have packing and a few errands to keep me out of trouble.

Better run and get my day started.....

Saw gastrintologist yesterday for check up. We’ve decided to keep what has been working and If the insurance company gives me grief he will call them. I went to fleet feet last night and bought a new pair of shoes. They are experts on running shoes (which i use for walking). This morning my leg seem to like them. Keeping my fingers crossed that my leg problem is solved.

Off to finish packing for trip. Have a great day everyone!

Hi all!

One of my projects that was supposed to be done next week has been delayed AGAIN.I keep so much work into each step and then BAMMO, technical difficulties beyond our control. That's technology for ya!

I worked in the city yesterday instead of today to celebrate a birthday there. After work I took an Uber up north to get a gift card for my SIL's bday at a brewery he likes. It was a lovely ride along Lake Shore Drive. Helped let the day melt away.

On to tackling new challenges and ST on my long conference call today!

Good morning!

Roof update - they came yesterday with a supervisor. The guy handled it, so I don't know all the details. It appears to be fixed, but they suggested that it may be caused by the masonry on the chimney and really be from the chimney, not the roof. We do have a large (ugly and dated) stone chimney that dominates that side of the house. Somewhat skeptical because it is leaking primarily in the exact same spot as the leak that we had a year ago that they "fixed," and it stopped. But may need to have a professional come out and inspect the chimney - not that there are a ton of companies that do that work, as you can imagine, in Florida. To rule out or in whether it is the chimney, and to have it looked at anyway, so I don't think much has been done to it since the home was built 30+ years ago. We used a very established (60 years in business) local roofing company and have a warranty, so we haven't had any issues with them coming out, but overall, we weren't pleased with the way things have gone since the install.

Nell - we have a barn-style roof on a log cabin with a couple of dormers and gentle slopes, except for the sides that are shingled. Glad your procedure went okay, and that you are getting things settled with your mom's placement. Hopefully, the new place will take some of the load off your shoulders!

Poindextra - Hope that the appointment went well!

Phebess - Hope you're feeling better!

Donna - Glad you seem to be doing better!

I'm dealing with a real pickle of a matter that I just got a response on after 3 weeks, so I have to go untangle that mess. Time to get to it. Have a great day, all!

Good morning. I'm so glad the test are over! It's good to be back to my normal eating, though I'll have to ease myself back into the huge amount of fiber I usually eat. Tonight we eat at Cracker Barrel, not a lot of fiber there.

Jamir, I'm shocked that a new roof is already leaking. Is it leaking at flashing points? Do you have a lot of different angles on your roof? They are pretty, but hard to flash.

Poindextra, I'll take competence over bedside manner any day in a doctor. I don't spend enough time with doctors to have to like them, I just want to trust them. My biggest problems tend to be with office staff, so many are both rude AND incompetent.

Bea, I have great memories of camping as a kid, but it no longer appeals to me. Setting up camp and breaking it down every day, outhouses, bathing in cold water from a pump, no longer appeals. My parents seemed to enjoy it, though, it was the only way to travel cheaply with a family. I've stayed in some rough motels though that weren't much better.

Cleaners will be here soon.

Good morning!

Did a nice stretch and warm up routine that is helping with my stiff shoulders and neck, in particular. Stretching is the best thing and I neglect it. But what a payoff in ease and comfort.

Bess, that local, recent history tour sounds like so much fun. Sunny, you made me realize that recent history IS so compelling. I’m thinking about folks who come to DC flock to the many recent history exhibits so much, whether it be the African American museum or the Archie Bunker chair at the Smithsonian, or Julia Childe’s kitchen.

Donna, I hope your trip is fun, packing aside. I don’t even pretend to pack for the most part, but tell my friends I am overpacking right now... Just to save myself some angst (-:

Econ, hope you enjoy Oregon!

Poindextra, I agree with Bess about docs and their competence being more important than their manner, but still...

Maree and Bee—camping does make those memories. But I too am at the give-me-a-real-matress stage of life. Don’t regret all the fun we’ve had doing it over the years though.

Nell, welcome back to real food. So glad the colonoscopy was successful.

Ouch on that roof, Jamir. Ugh on water coming in. So damaging. Hope you can keep those pots going and save the damage part.

Kellie, Poindextra, hope your work is going well.

We are helping our Colorado kids figure out how to make a house deal. We are in a waiting game now, hoping the seller accepts the changes made in the contract. I hope the two of them are sleeping better than me, mom, who seems to be playing the worrying game in her sleep. Last night I dreamt we bought a dud of a house with moldy wall paper, leading pipes, yada, yada, yada.

Have a good summer day everyone. toni

Good morning everyone
Maree - our family were enthralled with the tour. DH did plenty of research and they are avid tennis players. They were being introduced to tennis just as Arthur Ashe was rising to the top of the lists. The tour brought back a bit of their youth to them as well as giving them that sense of "being there" at the beginning.
Phebess - One reason some artists can't teach is that they learned their craft instinctively so they haven't the words to describe what they're doing. I can't teach violin because I don't really know how to play - I just play. I can teach knitting because I learned it from a book and have a huge vocabulary about it.
Donna - enjoy your trip!
Bea - happy return from camping. I camped for 2 months when we first moved to the country. Sort of filled my quota there.
Poindextra - sometimes warmth isn't so important - and your new doc seems generous with his knowledge - which IS important
Nell - whew. glad that's over. I hope you get a few days of rest and recovery now after your eventful summer
Econlady - safe travels
Jamirblaze - Ugh - a leaky roof. Don't blame your DH for being sharp about it
Toni - yoo hoo
Sunny - the Arthur Ashe tour is just a sightseeing jaunt my husband put together for our loved ones, not some kind of packaged tour. AA grew up in Richmond which is our nearest city and where I too, grew up - 10 years after he did. Tennis was a big deal in my childhood - even I played for a while.

We settled on cabinets for the studio and ordered the counter top for them. These are off the rack cabinets so we brought 2 home with us and will pick up the last one at the end of the month when the top is finished. All 3 were slightly damaged so we got them for half price - yippee! DH was with me when we picked them out and he assured me he can mend them. He's back on prednisone now because his pain came back - but this time I think he has a deeper understanding of what he's dealing with. old age - not for sissies.

Good morning!

Safe travels Donna! So glad you are mobile again!

Phebess, are you nearly finished with the antibiotic? Was headache listed among the side effects?

Bea, camping is a lot of work, packing and unpacking, but so worth it. So many great memories!

Bess, how did your Romanian family like the historical tour? I bet you enjoyed being with your favs!!

Jamirblaze, sorry to hear about the problems with the roof. Any answers?

Poindextra, so far, so good. Glad they can monitor; are there dietary recommendations to keep it from developing into cancer?
Nell, I bet you'll be glad to be back to your normal routine! Glad all is well.

I have an early morning appointment with prospective clients and 2 colleagues so need to leave for my out of town office a bit early today. Lunch is all packed, and it's time to dress for crossfit class. Rain today in the forecast--why, of course, we ran through the car wash last night!!! LOL! Actually I think it's moved through already.

Hope all have a great day!!
