Happy Saturday!

We had a lazy morning - although my idea of lazy was just staying in and finishing the blog about Crater Lake. DH wanted to visit a nearby casino, so that's what we did for the afternoon. I may have to stop going with him - so many are all smoky, and I come out of there with inflamed eyes. I used my allergy eye drops, but I'm not sure that's enough anymore. Might need to just add casinos to my list of places to not go due to allergies.

Heading north tomorrow, and we'll stop in Goldendale, WA. It's right near Maryhill, where there's a replica of Stonehenge, lifesize, but in cement. I find it one of the funniest things ever - I can just picture Druids celebrating the equinoxes and solstices around cement stones. Just so bizarre!

But there's also a good art museum there, as well as an observatory. The observatory is closed for renovations, but the museum is open. And all of this right near the Columbia River Gorge!!! Looking forward to it!!!

Hi folks,
I always have an audiobook going in the car, and another on my phone for walks. I wouldn't get any "reading" done otherwise! I'm listening to The Years of Rice and Salt by Kim Stanley Robinson in the car, and will put The Clockmaker's Daughter on my phone tomorrow. Hubby turned me on to both books. He always picks good stuff.

Today I finished the lunch prep for when I get back from my biz trip. The containers are in the freezer, so I won't be as slammed next weekend. I also did lots of errands today (got my steps in), and made time for 2 20-minute meditations whrn I was having that "there's SO much to DO" adrenaline feeling. I'm pretty good at not judging my thoughts as they go by, but am amazed at how my brain just keeps churning and churning. That's why making the time to sit is so important for me. I will strive to do the same tomorrow. Hopefully hubby and I will get out for another walk in the woods. We did 2 hours last week, so I'd like to do 2.5. I also need to pack!

Now I'm off to bed. Sleep well, everyone!

Good afternoon!

Sue, like reading while commuting. Talk about making the most of your time. Been considering having an audio book going on my car. Last one I listened to was Born a Crime, by Trevor Noah. It was exceptional.
Yes, Nell and Bess. A gorgeous few days. No wind eitherótoday.
Maree, all that water is sure frustrating.

I kayaked with my friend this morning and then my DH and I went to the local farmerís market. Fresh is so great. There were lines at the produce booth. I made a chickpea and tuna salad with tomato, cucumber, red onion, red pepper, arugula and feta. Lemon vinaigrette dressing. yum.

Making it an active weekend. Hope all of us can make it work to our liking.

Happy day, everyone!

BESS, it's so ironic that you mentioned Fanny Flagg. There have been many days where I have read your blogs and thought of her style. But I'm happy that you have one ALL your own, lol, equally as enjoyable.

I am reading a book called Feast. It's very well written, the first book from this particular author (young girl) and it's about a college student, and food, and food addiction is a minor subject so far. I like how it's written, been reading on the train to and from work.

Gorgeous day here in NY, FINALLY! Four whole days of rain. Bleh. I just got in from mowing the lawn, it's such an enjoyable chore for me. Instant gratification.

Hugs all around!

Good morning.

I see the center of the country is in rain again, we are having a glorious weekend. I have the windows open, the cats are happy on the window sills watching the birds.

The guy who bought my motorcycle will be here this afternoon to ride the bike away. He is a retired cop and didn't want to just take a plate from one of his other bikes, which is what most of us do even though it's illegal. I saw on the news that there was a massive motorcycle crash in New Hampshire. A pickup truck evidently crossed the center line and took out a whole group of bikes, killing 7 riders and putting 3 more in the hospital. It makes me feel better about my decision. Too many drivers are morons. I wonder if a cell phone was involved, it all too often is.

Oh Maree. I'm so sorry you can't get to the houseboat. Rain is nice but not when it's flooding rain. I hope this dreadful weather ends soon.
Poindextra - I take Airborne at any time of year but most especially when I travel. I take one every 4 hours but I didn't realize there were different strengths of it so I'm not sure how much I take. It helps with colds but also with germs that are waiting around for when allergies make you more vulnerable. If I wake up with even the hint of a sore throat I take one while I'm making morning coffee. Can't say enough for it. Also - I do use the generic store brand and find it works just as well. I drop 2 tablets in a 16 oz water bottle when I board a plane.

Phebess - Argh! Computers are great ..... when they work
Toni - wasn't yesterday glorious? I couldn't stay indoors
Econlady - yay on the eye exam and the new calmer chiropractor
Nell - yup. like I said - bride doll. Poor thing. Hope you enjoyed your relaxing day
Jamirblaze - I second those mental health days.
Kellie - we had a fantastic First Day Of Summer here in eastern VA. Cool, sunny, dry, ahhhh. Paradise. I'd like to order 90 more

I finished re-reading Standing In The Rainbow by Fannie Flagg - of Fried Green Tomatoes fame - the author who writes the books I wish I'd written. It was just as good the second time around even though I knew what was going to happen. In fact, it was fun to anticipate What Comes Next. I still can't quite get over the guilty feeling that comes from reading all afternoon. I have to keep reminding myself that I'm retired now - I've earned it. Weight is good, though it could be better. But then - maybe I like the idea that it could always be better.

May y'all have a wonderful Saturday.

Good morning!

From DD's house. We gave up on going to the houseboat, after more rain yesterday and rising river levels and more rain in the forecast today and tomorrow. Pretty disappointing. We'll try again next weekend and DH will get the john boat ready to haul over.

I need to pack and prepare for a business trip to Cleveland Ohio, flying out Monday, returning Wednesday. I will be taking Airborne for sure, Poindextra. It works for me.

We're going to go out for breakfast and do a little shopping and then head home today, hike tomorrow. Our plan anyway.

Jamirblaze, did they say what might have caused the narrowing of your esophagus? Just curious. How would one prevent that, I wonder.

I'm with you on the mental health days. I do have the 4th and 5th of July off, which will make for a 4 day weekend. Looking forward to that. And praying for a break in the weather...

Well, better get this posted; I slept an hour later than usual. Hope all have a great day!!
