Maree, I'll be watching for your report on the hearing aids. I don't hear lower register voices well either. And forget about anything with a lot of background noise - it all comes in at the same volume. I'll think about it for September, when I'm on Medicare.

And yes, the fireplace and whirlpool are definitely wonderful. Well, I did the whirlpool this evening. It probably is too warm for the fireplace - but it looks cool!

Went down to the lake, which is gorgeous - but also a bit touristy and crowded. We might look into a boat trip, but the prices are pretty insane.

Hi SparkBuds,
I'm pooped so will do my meditation and go straight to bed. Or maybe I'll fall asleep while meditating!:).
Sleep well!

Fingers crossed for you Maree!

Bess, you gave me a mindset turnaround. I woke up feeling overwhelmed and burned out at the thought of facing the second week of this long rollout. Now there are many people above me doing much more work than I but you made me feel good, my part is smaller but extremely important and not knowing how to do it all, I got it together and got it out there. Some days it was ugly but it's been a great learning experience. There will be more of these at our other sites. Thank you for helping me reframe and get motivated!

Yep Econlady, head injuries are treated MUCH differently nowadays than in 1983. I hope you having a good day today.

I came home from yesterday's 10K with such an endorphin high that I looked up a race someone in my running group mentioned and I registered. It's more than I like to pay for a race but it's a Hamburger and Beer 5K next month, starting at Solider Field and along Lake Short Drive. A nice finisher medal, a hamburger and beer afterward. I was in!

Donna, I was diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel as well several years ago. The brace, icing and stretches helped and I even learned to use my mouse with my left hand (carpal tunnel in the right hand). It aches every now and again but nothing too awful anymore. I hope you feel better soon!

Wow Maree, that was fast. Good for you for taking care of this right away. I hope it solves your hearing issues
I am typing with one hand so this will be short. The brace allowed me to sleep through the night so that is a plus

Maree that was quick! Iím interested to hear feedback.
Yes I have done physical therapy, but itís a chronic problem. When I was 23 I got hit by a car while crossing the street (I was in the crosswalk) and hit my head on the pavement. Back then if you walked away nobody cared and I didnít want to miss my class. Over the decades I started getting neck problems and then headaches. Going to a Chiropractor helped. Now because I took time away Iím paying the price. The accident was in 1983. Things sure would be different today.

Maree, I'm surprised you got hearing aids on the spot. DH had to order them at Costco, they came in less than a week. I wish he'd wear them. I'm tired of having to repeat everything.

Yes, we are lucky here in terms of service availability. We have 3 major malls, 2 hospitals, 3 Costcos, 4 Walmarts and a Sam's, all within about 20 minutes of the house. The downside is traffic and cost. Thank goodness we bought our house when we did, there is no way we could afford it today.

It's rainy and miserable and I have to get out to run errands. The kids are giving me a big 70th birthday party here on Saturday. They'll do the food, except for a peach blueberry pie they want me to make, and I'll have to cook for house guests. I made a bunch of appointments for the week before I knew about birthday plans, so it will be a busy week. I can't let rain get me behind.

Happy Monday! Where did the weekend go?

Maree - Be interested to hear more of your experience. My dad desperately needs a hearing aid, but had a bad experience with his first. Acknowledges that he needs one, but has been debating between Sam's and the AARP program. We are already Sam's members - great for buying and freezing meats, etc.

Econlady - Have you tried physical therapy? They can do almost everything a chiropractor can do and many of them have massage therapists as well. I had a similar experience at my primary doc's old office. Love my female primary doc, but hated the female nurse practitioner who you would see if you were sick. Very rude and condescending.

Have to scoot soon. Meeting and then a memorial for the Pulse shooting. Have tissues, and think that I'm emotionally ready to participate. Have a great day, all!

Maree - cool beans that you've got some months of trial use. I hope they do the trick for you.
Phebess - ooo - a room with a hot tub and a fire place - sounds tres romantic
Kellie - sending success vibes your way that your roll out rolls smoothly. How fascinating to think of you putting together a big project and sending it out into the world
Poindextra and Donna - I too slept in a wrist brace one year when I had CT issues. I'm hoping the healing is fast. It's hard to Not use a computer in this day andage
Econlady - I'm so sorry you're struggling with pain. I rather liked the pun, though
Nell - living up in NOVA really gives you a lot of options for places like costco and Sams
Toni - jealous of your kayaking. I swear I will pull mine out soon.

We are having RAIN - lots of it - Friday and Sunday were really dank wet days. Everything seeps in this kind of weather. Thank heaven tomorrow promises to be sunny. I'm going to try to hit the gym today after a meeting and a lunch with a gf.

Good morning!
Here we go, another Monday! Good luck with your computer project roll out, Kellie!
Donna, I like your attitude that these setbacks are only temporary--hope the brace helps.
Econlady, hope you find some relief soon.
Phebess, those accommodations sound perfect! My cousins like to take any visitors to Tahoe--I was there during the winter several years ago. Beautiful!
Bess, I agree--we learn a lot from our friends here.
In fact, I followed up at Sam's yesterday. They did a very thorough test, and discussed my hearing loss. Apparently, it's unusual as the loss is in the lower frequencies rather than the high ones, and I still have great word recognition. Bottom line, I purchased a pair, with a full 90 day money back guarantee. So, now to see how they work in the settings in which I've been experiencing problems. I have until September. We shall see.

Time to dress for crossfit and pack my lunch. Hope all have a great day!
