Happy Mother's Day!!!

I personally skipped having kids (didn't get married until I was 49) - but having a motherly personality, I've definitely mothered my students, nieces and nephews, cats - you know, anyone who needed extra support somehow. It's what we do, right?

Today started out nice and sunny - and I got in a short walk - but then it went all grey and drizzly, so I had another short walk at the mall. They have one covered parking area, so it makes it easy to stay dry. But it sure went chilly with the rain!!!

Happy Mothers Day! I agree with Bess that it should be renamed Mothering Day, as even those of us who aren't Moms do some mothering, and we are all "mothered" by someone, not necessarily biological Mom!

Econ, the cookies you helped your friend make are lovely - they look perfect for a beginner lesson.

I didn't post Friday or yesterday because of the Toastmasters conference. These conferences are a lot of fun, but are also very tiring. It was Friday evening after work and ALL DAY Saturday. Fortunately the venue is right across the street from my office, so it was very convenient. Heard some great educational and inspirational presentations, had fun with old friends, met some new folks, and ate delicious food:). That meant steps were low, but I did get my 10k in both days, and managed to get 12k in today. Had to do all the food prep for the week today, but got it done.

It's fun to hear about all of your projects; may they all continue with no glitches.
It's been rainy and chilly, and that will continue tomorrow. So, no more work on filling my hole. Tomorrow I'll swing by the neighbor who has a mix of rubber tire mulch, dirt, and gravel that they want removed, and see how many pails/trips it will take to haul it all to my house:). It will be too wet to do any of the transfer until Thursday, but I can at least have a look. I'm so grateful to be feeling well enough to do all this lifting and hauling!

I have to be at work at 7 to head downtown for an 8AM meeting with our customer, so I must head for the shower and then to bed as soon as I finish this. Sleep well, my friends!

Happy Motherís Day everyone. I will talk to my other son today..actually FaceTime which is much better. We wonít be able to have dinner together but like Maree, that is just the way it is. I will miss seeing both of them today.

Nell, I agree mechanical appliances are much easier to fix but there are sure not many out there any more.

Bess, I bet your dishwasher was full when you found out it wouldnít start. Now you have company today. Back to the old fashion way of doing dishes.

Itís still lovely here so I will be sure to spend time outdoors. I still have cleaning to do on our deck so that will keep me happy.

Econolady I havenít seen your cookies yet so will go searching for them after I finish here.

Have a great day everyone no matter how you are celebrating..

Good morning.

My oldest DGD is 19 today. She's still up at school, so her own mother can't be with her, but she'll be coming home this week for the summer.

I tried Abreva once before, it didn't do much. I had some Valtrex in the medicine cabinet for this instance, it will shorten the duration but won't make it disappear. Too bad it came out on a Thursday night. My dentist has a special laser for cold sores, he said that if he can hit the cold sore with the laser at the beginning, it will disappear right away with just a little redness from the heat. His office is closed on Fridays, though, so I couldn't do it.

Bess, I'm with you on all these digital appliances. Give me a mechanical dial any day! Congrats on your son's birthday!

It's cold and rainy and miserable today, a good day to be indoors.

Yes Toni - I wonder if we ought to call it Mothering Day ... but happy day to everyone. I became a mother on this day, 43 years ago. Lucky me - I will get to spend it with him and his pwincesses.
Maree - rain here too - or drizzle anyway. and cooler temps, so we're burning up building scraps as fast as we can.
Econlady - you're a good teacher
Phebess - if my parents taught me one thing (by not following in their footsteps) it was be prepared to adapt. If one thing doesn't work, try something else - in travel, meals, hobbies, or any other pursuits.
Kellie - a day of layin' low can be pure bliss - hope yours was
Donna - my son will cook too!
Nell - I'm so sorry you've got that cold sore. Hope it clears up fast
Shout outs to everyone else.

my dishwasher won't start and since all the other buttons work I suspect a blown fuse. I hate touch-pads on appliances - especially those that use water. But eh. Time to hunt out a repair man. Other than that - things are humming along nicely here.

Happy Motherís Day everyone. One way or another we all mother someone and have been mothered. So in my thinking, we all qualify to pay attention and honor this day.

Iím looking forward to taking it easy for the most part, cooking with my son this afternoon and seeing our daughter as well.

Good morning! Happy Mother's Day!

Lovely cookies, Econolady! It was so nice of you to share your skills! Presentation is a plus, too!

Nell, have you tried Abreva? Expensive, but effective. Best to apply at the first tingle, but helps healing, too.

Yesterday didn't go as planned. First, it took way longer to paint trim and windows. Second, it started raining midmorning and continued (gently) all day. So garage project starts today instead. I sure kept busy all day though.

And I found my new Chinese Evergreen - Silver Bay, at a nursery! Yaaay! Happy Mother's Day to me! Replaces the plant I received from the lady who was most like a mother to me, and never had children of her own. How I miss her.

I'm missing my own daughter, too, and so look forward to her visit next weekend.

Time to dress for church. No rain today, but overcast, so house projects here we come!!

Hope all have a great day!!
