Maree, you absolutely are a rock star here - and obviously at work as well!!!!

Bess, I know exactly what you mean about the eyes, though I'm giggling at your description of Modigliani (which is SO apt!). Sometimes it helps to do a little of each eye at a time, to make them match. On the other hand, less is sometimes more, so making the eye outline less obvious than the pupil works as well. (I'll admit that I tend to do upper lid and pupil in a sketchy style and leave it at that.)

Poindextra, I hope you continue to feel better!!!

Doing better today, and got out for a bit.

Maree I agree that information about eating and nutrition has not always helped. To maintain weight.
Bess Sargent and Modigliani are very different in style and color palate. You definitely deserve the studio. Think A aroom of Ones Own as Tone suggested
Toni adding distance on gradually must help the healing process.
Nell I have an iPod and an iPad for alarms
Kellie gift cookies are dangerous
Donna we are getting frost warnings so the socks stay on.
Poindextra you listed a lot of positive things, especially the goal weight

The rain is gone for a few days but it is too cold or me to walk in the morning. So I went to the gym road the recumbent bike and did some core exercises on the ball. Then I ran errands. It was a busy day. I am feeling good again and plan to stay away from the cold and wind.

There are mountains in the distance which donít usually see clearly because of the marine layer. But with the wind everything is clear and with the cold temperatures the snow level dropped. So we are getting beautiful views of snow capped peaks in the distance. This does not happen very often. The mountains are far away and are the backside of The Grapevine which is the major highway that connects northern and Southern California through a mountain range.

Hi team,
Bess, you DO deserve that new studio!
Maree, I too am in awe of your workouts!

Right now I'm looking forward to when I have enough energy for 4k steps/day, as I've only been getting 3 and change for the past few days. I'm giving my body the rest it needs, and will SLOWLY ramp up as I feel better.

On the positive front:
A. I only took Advil once today; ears and throat are down to a dull ache
B. ENT said the fluid that was in my ears on 1/9 is gone, so good improvement there.
C. I was able to put in another full day of work from home, and feel confident that my venturing into the office tomorrow will be OK.
D. I lost the rest of my November/December weight, and am now a tad below goal.
E. I feel well enough to venture out to dinner with Hubby. Hooray!

Have a great evening!

Maree, all,of us expected none less for your evaluation. You exceed in everything you do. Your shortened workout yesterday would have sent be to bed! I think itís pretty awesome how you can work out.
Bess, your day yesterday was so busy. My full days now donít even come close to being that busy. I donít think inhale that much energy any more. I had a great workout yesterday, did a few errands and went for a long walk, that was pretty much my day other than things around the house. Walking is much harder for me now but 8mhave to keep it up. It was a cool day but the sun was sh8ning and it was glorious. I used a hiking pole and it does help with the knee issues. I better get use to it as it is part of my life now.
Nell, I use my phone now for my alarm and really prefer that over a clock. its so easy to use.
Kellie, we did miss you yesterday. Donít worry about a few cookies I am sure they will be burnt off before noon today.
Poindextra, hope your improving every day.
Sunny good for you for using a personal trainer. I have not had one for years but I know they make a huge difference. Form is everything. I hope it warms up soon. I hate to hear you have to wear socks to bed to stay warm. After all you do live in Southern California!
I hope Jamirblaze is having warmer weather.
Sue I am going to pass on that WW substitute to my sister who is doing WW right now. She is having lots of success but I am sure she will get to the point when she does not want to pay any longer.
Uber driver is working again today so I have to plan my day around it. Next week we go to the neurosurgeon and hopefully Dh will be five the go ahead to drive again. I donít mind driving but he is the worst backseat driver in the world. Who knew!
Off to start my day. Have a great day everyone.

In retirement my hubby needs projects. The latest one is the ants. Ants have been coming into the house like they pay rent.he gives me frequent updates. I hear things like these ones donít like sugar, but went for the protein. Itís actually kind of cute. It seems like every half hour he goes around and checks the spots where he has put out poisonous food. Iím glad heís doing it, but his seriousness is fun to watch.

Hi all! It just hit me I forgot to check in yesterday. Catching up on everyone's news!

I had a cookie incident yesterday. Anyone ever have Cheryls cookies? So hard to resist. I thought of Econlady and all your fancy cookies. My son's girlfriend's mom sent us a big box of them at Christmas. We put them in the freezer in the basement right away. DH digs into it every now again. He has set out three for himself the day before and I inhaled them after work. I could have eaten WAY more!

Well, tons to do today. Practicing mindfulness to keep myself from spinning into orbit.

Good morning.

Dinner out last night was fun. I don't watch any state of the union, ever, I prefer to read it later. It's faster. I have never had much patience with political blathering, more so now than ever. I'll see more than enough in the aftermath, even when trying to avoid it. It's embarrassing enough to be a Virginia resident right about now.

I got a million errands done yesterday, it feels so good to have lots of tasks crossed off.

Bess, I ordered a couple of the same alarm clock off of Amazon. They have been discontinued, so I hope these last awhile. I have a regular digital clock by my bed, I need red numerals so they don't light up the room, but digital alarms are a pain. They take forever to change wake up time, and I can't remember which little button to push to turn it off when suddenly awakened. I use a little analog travel alarm for the days when I have to be sure to wake up early. As far as the ticking, I used to be used to it back in the days when I had to wind the clock every night, and the alarm was a hammer between two actual bells. How expectations change over the years!

I hope everyone feels better today!

Good morning!

Ah, Bess, is it time to check out A Room of Oneís Own from the library? Iím thinking thereís a sail boat that houses your DHís adventurous spirit and now you have a space for your creative self. Perfect!

Maree, delighted your company acknowledges your performance! Wow. And not surprised at all you exceed expectations.

I had a sweet gym workout yesterday and today will get outside for a walk of some lengthóstill feeling my way, but wondering if I might add to my 3 mile weekend trots... Weíll see.

Weíre taking our sonís closest friend (from grade school) to dinner tonight. Heís a great kid with a new job and it will be fun to see him.

Have a good day, all.

Oooo - Maree - that suit sound gorgeous! Love velvet trims. I am not surprised you got the Exceeds Expectations rating. I love hearing about you meeting your own high standards.
High.Not unreasonable. Yay!
Sunny - good for you for using the services of a trainer. I really progressed when I had a trainer.
Phebess - So sorry you are having such a cold winter. Hope those tummies feel better today
Poindextra - Gosh I hope you have a speedy recovery. Did you that mono is related to cold sores? Well - drink lots of fluids - get plenty of rest. You know the drill
Donna - Me errands are so much fun. I hope there was retail therapy
Sue - I certainly like the WW points system, now that I've learned it, and I like the WW leader at my meetings, so as long as those components stay the same I will continue to participate but I definitely feel that it's shifted focus and I could see myself bidding them goodbye. There are other food trackers in the world
Nell - I hear you about the alarm clock. I haven't been able to find one that doesn't either click so loud it keeps me up or glows green in the dark. My old one is just broken enough that if you touch it you dislodge the battery. I haven't been able to find a new one I like
Toni - we might get a reprieve from the rain - one more day with the rake, for me.
A shout out to Nola, Kellie, Jamirblaze and all the rest of the team.

Art class was wonderful yesterday - I made a breakthrough with skin tones and am tickled pink. Still having trouble with my Modiglani eyes - when I am trying for something more Sargeant. My day was full like Maree's - with class, then delivering notices about the art guild's Plein Air weekend in April to all the art galleries in Richmond. That was fun because I got to see lots of different artistic styles. Then back to my town for two meetings and an art guild dinner - that I had thought was going to be today. I didn't get home till after dark but I could see that most of the floor of the new studio is framed. I have to keep telling myself that Yes. I DO deserve all this luxury. Should have had it years ago. And then pinching my arm to remind me it isn't a dream.

Believe it
Do it
Become it

Good morning! Hump day.

What a full day yesterday! Starting with 5 am crossfit, four 500 meter rows, then 10 rounds of three moves: 50 skips (jump rope), 5 box jumpovers, 10 burpees, for time. I had to leave early so only completed 8 rounds--it's the burpees that are killers! Then choosing a favorite purple skirt suit w velvet buttons and collar trim, that fits better than ever, for my manager meeting, receiving a rarely given "exceeds expectations" rating, lunch with manager and colleague, and finishing a tel conf call meeting and leaving for home in time to miss the ice storm warning, arriving to DH's sous vided burgers and salad. I was sound asleep before 7:30 pm (long day from 1:30 am to 7:30 pm). Unfortunately I missed the State of the Union address, which I prefer to hear and judge myself rather than the spin of the news reports thereafter. I'm sure a replay is available somewhere.

Bess, what fun to have a friend to share your art class with, and to see your dream studio begin to take shape! DGD is loving her Sat am art class so much that DD is considering a week long art camp here for summer vacation.

ST with a good trainer watching form is a wise choice. One of our crossfit trainers consistently nags me about pushing my knees out during any squat move, which helps me strengthen without injury and preserve those precious joints, I'm sure.

Toni, good job returning to routine!

Sue, way to pick up on the WW's subtle message: expected failure to maintain weight loss goal = return business for them. Kinda sad, isn't it? Dr Jason Fung had a podcast on how the weight loss industry blames the failure to maintain on the patient/member/client instead of the bad advice given by "the experts" over the past 30 years as the obesity epidemic has skyrocketed. I remember spreading my lunch out, by eating a part of it at 10:30 am and 3 pm to "keep my metabolism burning" per the "expert" guidelines, which served only to keep my insulin levels high all day, and burning/storing glucose instead of burning stored fat. 30 yrs of fighting it, yo yo; it angers me. But, alas, we maintainers shall beat the "regain odds"! Right?!!!

Hope all that are feeling puny continue to improve and that all have a great day!
