Thanks poindextra. Tomorrow I’m seeing my primary care doctor and I think I might ask her to send me to ENT. Thanks for the idea.

Cool cookies, Econ!
Nell, I'll have to remember your trout strategy the next time I'm at Cracker Barrel.

Saw the ENT today; I really like her. I learned more in the 20 minutes with her than I have with most doctors. She said that the cold caused negative pressure in the Eustacian tubes, which caused fluid to travel up them and build up behind my ears. She taught me to pinch my nose and blow (the Valsalva maneuver), to help equalize the pressure. She also said that using the neti pot right now was only adding to the problem due to the pressure imbalance.

They were so clogged at the office that she did this neat little suction procedure to get the process started; they're probably about 70% better now than they were this morning. I'm to use Nasacort and the short-duration pseudafed in the mornings, do the pinch/blow thing 5 to 10 times per day, and no neti until I'm better. When I do resume the neti, she said to always follow it with the Valsalva to equalize the pressure. Who knew! She also wants me to be allergy tested to see if that's what causes me to get so many "colds." She may be on to something, because I had a similar problem years ago. So tested I will get. I see her in a month. Hopefully I'll be back to normal by then.

I managed to cobble 9k steps together today, and even did part of my yoga since my head is feeling better. Still coughing my head off periodically, though. At least I'm coughing up the crud:). It will be difficult to get my steps in tomorrow and Friday with class all day, but I'll see how I feel and play it by ear.

Poor hubby was sick today like I was last Thursday. He stayed in bed all day and didn't even eat anything until about 7 pm. Hopefully this is the worst of it for him.

Sleep well!

Donna, I remember a jarred ointment called Musterole. I remember mustard plasters, I got burned one time from one left on too long.

Good morning all and adding my thanks to Maree for starting my day. I am always amazed with her posts as she has such busy and early mornings and still has time for us. I think it is pretty incredible.
My Mom use to slather us Vicks also and sometimes a Watkins product which I don’t remember. Did any if you have a mustard plaster?
My sister is doing WW so I am finding interesting how she counts her points. It’s amazing how many foods are free. It seems like a pretty easy diet to follow.
Jamir I like the thought of those smart scales. I am thinking maybe next time I will check one out.
Toni glad to see your progress going so well.
Phebess a haircut and a complimentary facial sound lovely.
Bess, more princess time. How wonderful
Warriorsue a few pounds less never hurts us does it? Hope your hubby is feeling better soon.
Econolady I think cardboard cookies are zero points! LOL
Nell I hope your anniversary dinner was enjoyable. Trout sounds lovely and your choices sound perfect. Good luck with your sleuthing at the condo today.
Today I have to call AAA as my car wouldn’t start yesterday. Poor thing has been sitting for so long as I having been using the van to transport DH everywhere. I am sure it is just from sitting too long.

Love the story of the foam cake. I repaired the cookie with molding chocolate. The cookie is a little sloppy, but I think you can tell it’s a cassette tape.

Happy Hump Day! Happy to be heading towards downhill.

Maree - Nothing is as good as good old stingy, greasy Vicks. The new creams just aren't the same. I was kind of a sick kid with regular ear infections, and my mom used to slather me with the stuff.

Warriorsue and Poindextra - Hope you're feeling better!

Sunny - the art exhibit sounds interesting. Indigenous art?

Kellie - Hard to have a loved one go through a break up. Hope they are able to do the emotional work and come out stronger on the other side.

Bought new scale that gives a lot of interesting stats. Not the most accurate (body fat, etc.) from just a scale, but interesting nonetheless. It did say that I have more muscle than average which I know to be naturally the case. (Renpho with Bluetooth from Amazon - you do have to have a smart phone to get the most out of it.) Needless to say, the stress of the last year/year and a half has had me straying from maintenance. And I didn't have a scale which was a major mistake. Work in progress, as always.

Got to get to it. Have a great day, all!

Hi all! Yes, Maree is a bright spot to begin the day!

My son texted me yesterday morning that he and his girlfriend broke up and he'd call me later. It put a dark cloud over my day. She's a lovely woman and my heart broke thinking about my child being sad no matter how old!!!

He texted me last night that they talked it out and are trying to work it out. I don't know what happened yet, he said he'd call me one day and talk about it but I was proud of him for talking it out, whatever it is. He's not much on talking about feelings!

I'm feeling my core from Monday night's core yoga video. Last night's video was a quick and sweaty vinyasa, it felt fantastic after being on a bus and a train!!

Can't wait for my hair cut appointment after work. I LOVE when someone washes my hair and they guy that cuts it is good for my soul! Running and going for hair cuts are my therapy!

Good morning, everyone! I so agree, it's a pleasure to start the day with MAREE giving her daily shout out! Thank you for that.

Hope you're all enjoying the week. My sinus infection continues to improve, and hubby's cold/fever/cough seems to morph each day, but still seems to be getting better too. I had to cancel a full week of work, which sucks since it's so close to the time we took off for our staycation over the holidays...but what can you do. His patients (dental) are all so sweet and caring, and if they minded being shifted into a later week, they sure didn't say anything to me.
We are very grateful for their loyalty.

I haven't exercised since Saturday but will get back on the treadmill or bike today. My weight is up a pound but is not much of a concern to me. At this maintenance stage I have become so much kinder to myself. Before I lost the weight, an additional pound would be something I would totally beat myself up, over... but then, binge and make the damage even worse. We brought in Chinese food last night; I imagined that the hot and sour soup would be rather therapeutic for our throats..but everything was loaded with salt I'm betting.
I have decided to try to take off a few more pounds. I am not positive that I have a new goal weight, but I am going to get myself back to my "day one" discipline that I had with WW, and just see what I can accomplish without being punitive toward myself, and also, allowing for a weight that I can rather easily maintain, as I've been doing with my 145 pounds for the past six weeks. I am only 5'2 and until I establish some sort of weight lifting protocol (which I know can add a few pounds as fat changes to muscle) I think it will be a wise idea to challenge myself to lose another 3-5 pounds. Does this sound like a good plan to all of you?

Good morning!

Sure agree with you, Bess. Maree’s posts ignite my days too.

I am beginning to think I can include in my days—working out and cooking healthy. Mobility is a real asset! Got cleared to try a stationery bike and my PT person reminded me that all my weight machines allow you to sit while working on upper body. I guess my excuses are over!

Good luck being a Snoop, Nell. Channel your inner Jessica (Murder She Wrote)!

It must be wonderful to pick citrus out of your own yard!

Good morning. Cracker Barrel was fun, we got to see people we only see once a month. I usually get the trout, it's the Tuesday special, but I only get one filet with two sides instead of the two with 3 sides.

Maree, there are different breeds of lemons, some have thick rinds. I've bought some before, not knowing until I cut into them, and it's irritating.

I went to Mom's yesterday and got the pile of coats and clothes she thought weren't hers. Included were the two vests I had just gotten her for Christmas. She didn't remember getting them, didn't even remember Christmas. Today I have to deal with the thief at the condo.

Maree - I just LOVE it when your post pops up in my email. It means the day is about to begin. Thank you so much for being our daily ignition. And yes. my inner tantrum child got a talking to. LOL. We're good.
Phebess - Score! I love a facial. and a haircut.
Donna - what fun to see a movie with your sister.
Poindextra - good for you for moving again as soon as you could Hope all Dr. discussions are productive
Sunny - yay for good health! Enjoy that beautiful weather with your guys
Jamir - hope you're 100% soon too
Econlady - you know I am resisting saying anything about crumbling and cookies ... right?
Kellie - I haven't gotten back to yoga yet but everytime you mention it I am pushed in the right direction. Thank you
Oh Sue - I have tried so many times to start a tree from seed. How cool to pick your own lemons
Nell - how did the dinner out go? And what is your go-to food at Cracker Barrell?
Toni - woo woo - so good to hear you're walking without crutches. And that you like your PT. A good one is surely worth her weight in gold. I had one some years ago who's routine I still follow if I find my shoulder stiffening up.

Yesterday I got to babysit Da Pwincess while her mama went to the dr. DiL told me afterwards how wonderful it was to feel like she could give this new pregnancy undivided attention. And since I went with them to the office - I got to watch Da Pwincess flirt with all the people in the waiting room. Cute 2 year olds are so much fun. Official weigh-in was good - down another pound from my weight creep high. 6 ounces to go to get back within the goal range. LOL - time was I'd have slipped off to the bathroom and stripped off my underwear - but these days I'm more relaxed about things like numbers.

Good morning! Hump day!

I'll chime in on Vicks -- it does a body good. Another use I discovered is to put it on unhealthy toenails. I must have picked up some fungal infection at a pedicure that caused my big toe nail to turn whiteish and flakey and found the Vicks cure on the internet. Like a medicated moisturizer. It worked.

Congratulations on the wedding anniversary Nell. Hope you had a nice evening out and resolved the problems at condo and with your mother's wardrobe.

Sue, my cousin planted a lemon tree --she lives near Sacramento, but the fruit is a little strange. They are larger than normal and have real thick skin with very small edible portions inside. Not sure why...

Sunny and Phebess, 70° AZ weather sounds divine [here come my beach memories!]. Enjoy! After an early cold spell with snow in November, we are having a mild winter. Okay with me.

Econlady, your non-eating, cardboard cookie reminded me of a funny story. DH and I attended his nephew's high school graduation party and when he started to cut the decorated sheetcake, he discovered that his mother had been sold a decorated piece of foam. We all laughed and shared one of the other desserts someone brought to the party.

Okay Bess, I can just imagine you putting that brat in the corner--lovingly explaining that snacking has interrupted your insulin hormone's work. LOL! Cool score on the studio's windows and door!

The wind wasn't as bad as predicted yesterday, but winter temps return today. Busy, busy days. Hoping for progress today.

Off to crossfit class, packing my lunch.

Hope all have a great day!!
