Sunny, happy anniversary!

DH has been pushing for us to go on the Jeep tour of the canyon, but once he heard the price he said no. And the company policy is that they won't take just one guest. (Even though our driver/guide turned out to be a woman. Weird times we live in!) So the ticket lady offered us a 10% discount, I told DH I couldn't go if he didn't go, and I'd do the 2 hr tour if he went. (Had been planning to do the 3 hr tour if they would take me.) Anyway, so we did the 2 hr tour.

And it was AMAZING!!!!! The views look like movie sets (because the distance flattens the perspective) - and it looks like all the movies and pictures in books - which makes it look almost fake. Just, overwhelming! I felt like I needed to just whisper, it felt like such a sacred space!

We also saw several small groups of elk, and a few mule deer as well.

DH was exhausted after the tour - the south rim is at 7000 ft or so above sea level, which just adds to feeling more tired (and more hungry). So I told him to take the car back to the hotel, and I'd grab some lunch, watch the Imax movie, walk around town, and walk back to the hotel. (He said he doesn't know where I get the energy. Uh, yeah, maybe because I eat more nutritional food items and keep up with my exercise? Ya think?)

It was wonderful, and I'm planning to drive in tomorrow morning for sunrise. Then back for brekkie with DH, and then we'll drive ourselves around the park rim - all the way in both directions.

WOW, it just is one of those absolutely incredible places that actually exceeds expectations!!!!

I spent yesterday working on a new to me computer. Why is it so hard to get everything to work?

Today I got out to the gym, worked on some Christmas present decisions and picked up a few things for a romantic 46 year anniversary dinner tomorrow. We find that we like staying in with a lovely bottle of champagne and chocolate

Have a lovely Sunday

I havenít had soda or alcohol inover 2 decades. The soda bothers my stomach and the alcohol my acid reflux. Today Iím constipated. My husband has decided to take on the problem. Heís starting to drive me nuts. Iím going to drink some water and go for a walk. I think the walking should help things move.

Hi all, as I sit here with my cup of coffee and my Christmas tree lights twinkling as I catch up on Sparks. it does feel quite festive.
Today I have the never ending housework and a few errands. Hopefully the rain will ease a little. Yesterday was a perfect day with no rain. What a plus for us this time of year

Good morning! It IS soggy, Nell, and a great day for inside tasks. I lit a candle to hang out with me while I have my coffee. Best I could doócanít quite get to the fireplace to start one right now with my leg!

Does anyone on this thread still drink soda? The truth is I gave up regular soda long ago and far away when DietRite was first made, in hs. I had a friend who totally destroyed her stomach lining living on that and apples to lose weight. Makes my insides hurt to think of it! Alas, she was only 15! Meanwhile now I do have an occasional diet coke, but I know itís not good for me.

Bess, I hope you and your DH take it slow and easy and get better. Ďtis the season for tough respiratory stuff, as I am sure you well know.
Maree, happy Saturday to you. Seems like you have happy plans!
Kellie, that Italian meal treat sounds yum. Weíve shared some of our lasagne overload with our daughter and her family so managed to eat that yummy pasta with pretty good control.
Phebess, so exciting to be at the Grand Canyon. I gotta get there; never been.

Iím starting to look at exercises to do with crutches, but holding back until I see my doc next week. I am going to see if she will assign me a PT session with someone who can show me a routine. I know I can do upper body, but I need to know how much to push other things.

Donna, Iím happy that you and your DH had an active day. Sounds like it lifted your spirits and his. Iíve been told the elliptical can be hard on joints, but when you described it I wondered if starting with short episodes might ease you back to it?
Econ, I bet that shower felt great!!
Warriorsue, I agree that testing always raises some anxiety about results. Iím glad you are good so far.

Today is more cards, and wrapping. Was happy that my internet order of a wreath arrived so we actually look pretty festive, just not quite as festive as usual. And frankly I am glad to take a step back from the usual this year and let other folks do. I suspect Iíll learn some things and others will get a chance to shine.

Happy Saturday, my spark friends. And this week I am particularly grateful for your encouragement, comments on my blog about the broken leg, and for just being here.

Hi all!

I hate the tests too WarriorSue. I threw myself into a panic attack, ER visit and all last year over it.

Econlady, hope you are feeling better today. What a sweet hubs!

Dinner with my friends was very nice and very needed! DH and I are going to head out soon, pick up some toys for the Harley toys for tots collection and some goodies for the guys/gals at the dealer that take such good care of us and our bikes. It's a holiday thing he started.

Then later I will run off the gnocchi in garlic cream sauce, bread/butter and wine from last night. It's supposed to be 40ish and dry. Jump back!!!

Good morning all.

It's raining, the city has now broken a record for annual rainfall. It's miserable out there, a perfect day for my long list of indoor tasks. We got the big tree up yesterday, I'll decorate it today when hubby is out this morning for his old guy breakfast. It's in the family room, his TV room, and he doesn't like any non-feline activity going on there when he is home.

I love salmon, but hubby says he hates it so I can't make it. He hates chicken, but I can tell him it's pork and he'll eat it. He hates bell peppers, so I add some cayenne and tell him it's hot peppers, and he'll eat it. I don't know how to sneak salmon in because of the distinctive color. It's like cooking for a 3 year old. He's made me into a good liar.

Have a great day all!

How wonderful that your SIL is such a good friend, Maree. and oh too true about the power of sugar. It would probably be a controlled substance if it were discovered today.
Phebess - I feel as excited as if I were going to the GC with you. And you prompted me to go back over my own blog posts from so long ago. Took the trip all over again. I hope you have as much fun there as I did.
Donna - how wonderful that your DH got out and about yesterday. Here's hoping you both get more of that kind of togetherness
Econlady - yay!!! I know that shower felt great.
Poindextra - hope you're having fun with your sister
Toni - I've been thinking of you a lot this week. Yes. there's a bitter sweet aspect to the card sending but I try to imagine my lost ones watching from above. Just know I'm sending healing juju to you you
Kellie - hope your weekend is less rainy than ours - so you can get in some good runs
Warriorsue - proud of you for dropping all that weight. Everyone here knows how hard that is
So Nell - have you "Got Tree"?
Sunny - yoo hoo - hope you're feeling better.
Jamir - I never read Bleak House either but I did watch the BBC's production of it with Ian Richardson playing the judge. It's about a law suit that went on for generations and at the end all the value of the property was spent on lawyers fees. Evidently lawyers were getting a bad rap even then! If you're unfamiliar with Ian Richardson - he was the original House of Cards actor and he played the British prime minister. It's so good I was never tempted to watch the American version

DH was worse yesterday and I felt a little achy too so after I got back from town I took a hot bath and a nap. As the day moved on I felt a little better and today ... fingers are crossed. I hope he's better too but we're spending this rainy weekend taking it easy. The scale is telling me that I'm not eating the way I know I should - I am, alas, at my scream weight but not at my "just shoot me" weight. Today I will do better.

Believe it
Do it
Become it

Good morning!!

WarriorSue, I can sympathize with the fear of testing as we age. And then those dang false positives that rock our world--glad your mammograms, etc finally showed all clear. Hoping for the best for you next week.

Toni, those blue/pink sunrises are the best--my favorite, especially at the marina across the water, which serves to reflect the beautiful colors on the treeline. Ahhhh. Love those memories, they sustain me "until we meet again."

Salmon is so yummy (gotta get DH to put a slab on the smoker for the holidays), but last night when DH took me out to dinner, I ordered the seared scallops. Mmmm. This restaurant is the best--healthy, delicious, unusual.

Sugar--lights up the brain like addictive drugs. Big Soda is the worst--we all know that. Industry takes advantage of the addiction, and have you ever noticed it (soda) doesn't quench thirst and sugary treats don't produce satiety? Nell, I agree baklava tastes like pure sugar--way too sweet.

Bess, hope your household recovers quickly from colds. What a blessing to spend time with those longtime friends!

Off to conquer a gazzillion errands and task list and a nice long walk with SIL, my longtime friend since age 15!

Sincere wishes for a WONDERFUL, happy and healthy Saturday!!
