Maree, that train ride sounds like a wonderful event for kids and families! (And yes, 50 or so people for one meal sounds absolutely daunting!)

I have a few old favorite games, and usually either break even or end up with a bit of a profit. Came out a little ahead yesterday. I mostly enjoy the amazing graphics on the newer machines - it's like a video game or something.

Bess, you are a wonderful Gran and your princess is lucky to have you!

Nell, I'm sure with those lists your holiday will go smoothly.

Kellie, I'm so sorry about your family friend. It somehow is always such a shock.

Econlady, DH and I go off and do things separately - it helps maintain everyone's sanity, doesn't it?

Sunny, enjoy your mom/daughter time!

Donna, you are a rock - keeping your routine, spending time with the family, and taking care of DH. Really, you are amazing.

Poindextra, I hope the new antibiotic kicks out your crud! (I've had to go on multiple rounds of antibiotics for bronchitis and pneumonia - sometimes you end up with multiple bacteria that require different meds to kill them off. Not fun, but you do end up getting better.)

DH said he'd meet me downstairs in the gym, or by the pool. So I went down and spent time on the elliptical (since the treadmill wasn't working). No DH. Then I did my upper body routine with the dumbbells, though only 1 set of 10-15 reps since it's been a while. No DH. So I went out to the pool for a bit, then the jacuzzi. Then I dried off. And yup, that's when DH finally showed up, as I was gathering my stuff to go back upstairs. It's just been that kind of a day.

Hi team,
Today is the best day since I caught the crud; congestion is less and energy better. I even was able to do a few errands today, and got 10k steps
without trying. I'm coughing some, though, so will work from home tomorrow. Sis postponed her visit to today because of my being sick, but woke up with a terrible stiff neck this morning. Hopefully she'll be able to make the drive tomorrow.

Maree, sounds like a wonderful time.
Bess, hope the pwincess snuggles were great.
Donna, glad your dh is stable enough for you to go to the gym.
Kellie, sorry for your loss.

I'm fading, so better get to bed. Sleep well!

Late checking in for me today. I went to the gym this morning and it felt good to get back into my routine. Letís see how it holds up for the rest of the week.
We have a lovely evening with the kids last night and I am so grateful,to,them for spending this time with us. It sure lifts my spirits.
Dh is doing ok. Of course I am worried about him so will just have to take this one day at a time. He sure does not seem to have much zest. Thst is so,hard to see.
Maree, I remember those days with my Granddaughter. It is so much fun to do these special things with her. She will remember those days forever.
Maree I can remember when our holidays involved 30+ people for sit down dinners. They were very busy times but very good memories. I have never had a fried turkey. I hear they are very good
Nell, you are the lady with lists. It sure does make the even easier to,handle when you know what needs to,be done and when.
Bess, more snuggle time. That little girl knows she is loved.
Kellie, sorry about your friend. Sending hugs your way.
I would love to hear all those jingle bells ringing as the racers went by. What a day thst would, have been. Quite festive I would think.

Kelliís so sorry for the loss of your friend

Maree what a wonderful adventure

I agree 50 people would send me into hiding. There will be a small gathering of friends at my sister in laws house

Off to pick up my DD who is flying in to see a musical which has been on her list. A nice dinner, a night at a hotel and then I drop her off at the airport tomorrow morning in time for her to go to work tomorrow. Mom and DD bonding time

What wonderful evening Maree. I think they do that at Union Station here in Chicago too.

The Jingle Bell 5K was not my best yesterday but it was beautiful with the snowfall! Bess, I have put it on my list of things to do to visit there when I'm not running a race. How have I never just visited there?!

We received word that a friend's dad passed yesterday. He'd been ill but nobody knew how bad. We thought a few more days of antibiotics and he'd be home. He was sitting up talking a couple days ago. Yesterday they said they moved him to the hospice floor and two hours later he passed. It was a shock.

Such a delightful man. They are kind of my extended family. I've been around them since high school. At all the family events, he was just delightful, happy go lucky, always smiling.

Ya just never know.

But onward to making it a good day. DH is making buttermilk pancakes for the kids and I, some mimosas then I plan a long yoga session and just relaxing!

That sounds like a wonderful evening, Maree, a fun start to the holidays! 50 people for dinner sounds like an overwhelming task, my house couldn't handle it. Today I have to write up lists of tasks for each day down to every little detail. The week will be smooth if I am well planned.

Off to church soon.

Oh Maree - that sounds like the most perfect girl-day ever! Thanks for sharing it with us. It put a smile in my face (and some ideas in my head for about 5 years from now)
Phebess - You are an intrepid explorer!
Donna - mega hugs to you. I hope your DH's health lands in a comfortable stable place - and you can have a routine again.
Econlady - glad to hear you can get out of the house again.
Poindextra - eek. It's bad enough to be so sick you need a doctor - really awful when it doesn't help - hope you're on the right stuff now
Kellie - wow! that sounds like so much fun - a true jingle bell run and snow to boot. Hope you had a grand time. Have you visited that estate just to explore?
Nell - did you survive the stores?
Toni - will you spend T'day at the lake?

It took me a long time to get motivated to clean the downstairs - but it's done. The upstairs needs attention now. Found a high chair the kids gave us, stashed in yet another cubbyhole. Just in time for Thanksgiving. Today I'm babysitting again - more snuggles with Da Pwincess.

Good morning!

DD surprised DGD with tickets to Polar Express last night. A ride on a real train at Union Station in St. Louis, to the North Pole. Cookie and hot chocolate, singing Christmas carols, reading the story and a visit from Santa Claus who gave them each a bell. Then dinner at the Grand Hotel at Union Station. Wow! (I broke protocol for this special event, but will jump back on the wagon today!) Oh, and Build a Bear while we waited to board the train. $$$ But DGD said it was "the best night of my life!" Kicked off the holiday season in a special way.

Lots of Thanksgiving preparations in the posts yesterday. I need to decide on a side dish to take to MIL's house. We are also bringing a small 12 lb turkey that DH will fry. MIL bakes her turkey. The whole family will be there, probably 50 people. A big event!

And you're right about the sunshine and warmer weather returning for the holiday--in our forecast, too!

Glad to hear improvement in air quality and fire containment, Econlady and Sunny. And that doctors were able to help your husband, Donna.

Bells a jingling! How was the run, Kellie?

I hope you have better luck at those casinos than I, Phebess! I'm terrible at winning at those places!

Attending mass with DD and DGD and then heading home today.

Hope all have a great day!!
