Nell and Donna, it's wonderful having someone come do the cleaning - DH and I had this wonderful lady who was just a whirlwind of energy! She came once a month for what she called "deep cleaning" - as in all the windows, floors, etc. I'd vacuum weekly, but I have asthma and most cleaning materials just kill my lungs. So we compromised and hired her, and she was wonderful! (And who says women have to clean? Did Jane Austen ever scrub her floors, or dust the house? No, she was a gentlewoman, there were staff to do that! So enjoy the once-a-month staff!)

On the other hand, as a teen I cleaned house for some people, and I know it's hard work.

Okay, today's calories are just under 1100. No idea why I haven't eaten more, but, well, that's the way today turned out. I'm not going to worry about it, I ended up packing and cleaning and that kind of stuff, so not my most energetic day.

Slept in and it felt good. After a fun but disastrous lack of regular exercise I am starting up today. I am thinking about having someone come in once a month to help also. I just don't get to all the corners like I used to. Have a great day

My November issue of Southern Living Magazine came yesterday. Those of you who familiar with that publication know its speciality is over the top recipes. Nutthing sez Southern like pecans, powdered sugar and a pick up truck load of butter. I find myself less and less interested in elaborate cooking and even more elaborate table settings, room arrangements and floral centerpieces. Actually I started thinking about getting rid of Southern Living a couple of months ago when it featured a series of fancy-schmancy southern university sorority houses, one of which recently enjoyed a SEVEN MILLION DOLLAR redo. As the PBS cartoon character Muffy Crosswire would put it: "Vomitrocious."

I thought I would get the jump here by posting around 6 a.m. but I guess most of you here are East Coast-ers. Hugs to all who need them and kudos to the rest.

Procrastination at work has me feeling anxious, but I know the basics will get done on time. Also feeling anxious because a mom wants to change the meeting date, but the paperwork is due. Also all the students I'm working on now are failing several classes. The history of most our of Spec Ed students in this boat so soon in high school is that they never really pull out of it. It is hard to watch.

Will get in my minimum exercise this morning. Should be no issues with food.

For the past 2 years I have had a cleaning woman once a month. I just turned 77. It is wonderful that she comes, but she doesn't clean as well as I do. I guess I have to stop being so "perfect". UGH

My husband and I decided to postpone putting Isabelle down just yet. She seems to be a little more like herself these last couple of days. I know it isn't a "recovery", pets don't just snap out of heart failure, but not just yet. I keep second guessing my decision, but it isn't irreversible until we do it. A few more weeks or months won't matter as long as she seems like Isabelle. The vet will always be there when we need her.

I have cleaners coming to clean my house this afternoon. I have never in my life had someone else clean my house. Even when my babies were born, or when I was recovering from surgery, or when I was working full time and raising children, I always cleaned my own house. It's like some ridiculous moral imperative that women are supposed to do all their own housework no matter what else we choose to do. I'm over 66 years old now, and it's time. Just once a month, I need to get help without it feeling like being a failure as a woman. How's that for being stuck in an outdated model?

Good morning all - I'm settling in at the DC office; I walked very briskly up to the bus stop this morning to not miss the 6:10, and it came at 6:15, so I had time to spare. I haven't walked that fast in a long time!

Happy birthday Donna - I hope you enjoyed it!
Gotta get organized now and set to work.

Have a great day all!

Good morning! May today be a bit shorter than yesterday.

Nell - I'll be thinking of you.

Kellie - You can do it! I'm HM burned out at the moment, but that sounds like a cool race even to me. Hal Higdon's program is great, but there are many good ones out there.

Donna - Happy Birthday!

Yes, it's fall, and since I got stuck at work yesterday, that meant, even at my lower latitude, that I left home in the dark and pretty much returned in the dark. Couldn't get a full run in with dinner, so I incline walked and then jogged out a mile. Run tonight, if all goes as planned.

Hope that everyone has a good one! Safe travels!

Oh Kelly - way to go - I would be tempted by the boarder crossing too! Well - you're out there in public now - hope that helps you keep up the fire. And Donna, happy happy birthday - just a day late. but Birthdays deserve a whole month to celebrate. Toni - I loved your peaceful practices blog just as much the second time around.

Hugs to you, Nell. Your last act of love.

Sending good wishes to all of you - healing thoughts for those fighting illness or helping loved ones - and a grand leap into healthy maintenance today for us all.

Good Morning!!

I keep waking later and later. I know it is the Fall and darker mornings. I am really looking forward to the time change. Another cold morning here in NC. Today is my Run Day so hopefully it will warm up by the time I get out. I am enjoying my coffee and getting ready for Day 52 of my Challenge.

Maree, I think you needed those extra minutes of sleep. Hope you do catch up over the week.
Nell, thinking of you.. Hugs.
Sue, hope all goes well with your husbands laser surgery.
Toni, Fall is here and so is shorter days. Darker mornings so hard to get moving..

Wishing all a Happy Super Tuesday!!

Good morning. I'm having a quiet one and enjoying it. These dark mornings kind of snuck up on me. I even slept in. Hmmmm, must be Fall for sure.

Thinking of you, Nell, facing the loss of your sweet pet.

And thank you all for the support and blog reading on my page the last few days. It's been fun reading your comments and I got a kick out of getting the popular blog trophy in my email this morning.

Off we go into Tuesday. emoticon

good morning! busy at work (finally!) after a slow period, coinciding with a trip to seattle for DH to have laser surgery later today. yesterday did not get much exercise in, but after a couple of days of yoga my muscles are sore, so a rest day or two is not wrong. we met DD and new SIL for dinner, tried a new vegetarian restaurant. fun evening.

toni, i enjoyed your peaceful moments blog too! and nell, i'm so sorry about your kitty - a tough decision. donna - hope you had a happy birthday! and kellie that does sound like a fun race; interesting the things that motivate us and make it all "worth" it!

another busy day ahead with errands, the doctor, and if all is well, we will head right back over the mountains this afternoon. too much work to have too much time to play in the city!

have a great tuesday!

Good morning!

I'm moving slow after I slept an extra 20 minutes. I'm not sure I'll ever recover the lost sleep from last week.

Heart goes out to you Nell and your kitty. It's just so hard. We just weren't designed for heartache, I'm convinced. Hugs

Toni I need to catch up on reading but it sounds like congratulations are in order. Good for you!

Cardio and crossfit for 90 minutes and then travelling for 90 minutes. Beautiful sunshiney warm day ahead.

Hope all have a great day!
