Had a nice day filled with exercises and good food choices

Chicago is a fun city with lots to do. We spent a week and still have lots on our list. A fun thing was a Segway tour through the park along the lake. Too much fun

with jet lag it is hard to know what day it is, but rather than starting tuesday, i'll check in here, i'm sure there are plenty more in the pacific time zone who will be checking in today. after a week of travel, we are finally settled into our swedish house, kitchen restocked, and first summer meal in the garden. weight is a tad high, but with both DD and DS here, there will be no lack of walks, and the first day we already managed almost 10 miles and over 20,000 steps. we even overcame the first hurdle of coffee with the neighbors and asked for "just a plain cup", without the sandwiches and cookies that usually accompany it.

the house is settling down now, it's after midnight, but i will get to work - and that way i can enjoy the daytime when they are all up.

have a great day/evening!

slipped on food, but got to drum class. Dance class yesterday. Slowly building in activity. It's a lot easier when not working.

Well I made it safe and sound. I'm at the corner of Madison and Franklin. I just bought myself a tall glass of mint herbal tea from Starbucks (right across the street) I got a map from the hotel desk and could probably walk to the lake. I brought work .... One must eat too. Thought I'd pick something up before 5 o'clock crazy.

Hmmmm.

Hi All, I wish I was on vacation but I must work Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I walked an hour to the cleaners. I will join in on a Block Party July 5th. I do not know what I will fix for the Party. Everyone brings some food to share. Last year I made pizzas, one vegetable and one pepperoni. I also brought fruit on sticks or skewers. I heard of a new thing now pizza in a cone. What do you think? Any ideas for me. Linda from bean town

Busy busy!

We were on the train for what felt like most of the day - beginning at 5:20 AM. Really. But we're at Sun Moon Lake in the middle of Taiwan, and it's gorgeous - we took a good walk this evening, and I ended with 4 miles for the day - pretty good for having spent 6 or more hours on trains!

KELLIEBEAN: I was a computer programmer and later a database administrator and I know ALL about being on call. I used to dread it days in advance and spend days afterwards recovering. My husband was a telecommunications engineer and for a (very short) time management decided it would be a good idea to send out pager messages when certain processes completed successfully as well as unsuccessfully. We were woken up at all hours of the night, only to find out it wasn't a problem, it was good news. The team went on strike by turning their pagers off at bedtime.

I'm embarrassed to admit that over the last eight days I've lost four pounds. "Embarrassed" because it takes a lot of reckless abandon to accumulate four pounds of pure bloat. I'm back on track now and those four pounds feels like 40 gone from my mid-section. I made a grocery run yesterday to re-stock on Greek yogurt, almond milk, egg whites etc.

Happy Tuesday!

Maree - I used to live in downtown Chicago, and I'm jealous though it's not the best city for watching your calories. I went to look up one of my favorites and found that it closed! Bummer! Some of the smaller grocers have salad bars which I used quite a bit, but it depends on where you will be. The city transit is great and google gives great directions for the CTA. Walking along the lake is not to be missed, if you can squeeze it in

I've not been having a great last few days, but July is here and it's a new month to start fresh and on track. I leave for several days out of town, but have brought good choices with me.

Hope that everyone has a good one!

Mornin all. A better mood today than yesterday. Yikes!

Oh Maree, I wish I could see you. I am in the suburbs, about an hour from the city and I'm on call for work till Friday evening so I'm tethered to the house. I dont' suppose you will be here through the weekend??

I think this on call had someting to do with my mood yesterday.I've been doing this for over 20 years and I'm tired of jumping when I get paged! Must remember it pays the bills.

Waving hello from the burbs!

Here's to a terrific Tuesday!

Good morning. Just back from the gym. An early bird day with my fitness buddy. It was good. Followed up with a protein smoothie. Drum roll: a start I am proud of.

No wonder too, as the scale was up )-:

Bess, glad your budget sessions are behind you. It took a long time! And good for you, Maree, checking in and catching yourself right up. As Bess said, one lb can be dealt with. I love the thought of Kellie and Maree in Chicago at one time!! Can Chicago handle that much positive energy at one time?!! Enjoy.

Yay, Maree. One lb is something you can deal with quickly. Glad to hear you're feeling better, Sharon. Who wants to be sick in the summertime? Or any time? You rock, Nola - I couldn't change a blade on a mower if I had to. That is a great lake name, Phobess - do you have a photo page somewhere of all the exotic places you visit? Kelli - namaste.

Okay - today is the last day of the fiscal year and the last day, I hope, of dealing with the Bad County Budget Clean Up Aftermath of the Departure Of She Who Will Not Be Named. It's taken the county 2 years to straighten out the mess she left. Let us hope that Next Year Will Be Better. Today I will be chained to my desk. Tomorrow will be better.

Good morning everyone,
Just finished my morning walk, and am setting down to do some office work before going to PT. Tonight we plan to have sirloin kebabs on the grill - yummy. We were supposed to have the kebabs yesterday, but those plans were derailed by my needing to pick up hubby at Metro and then retrieve his car from the dealer.

Have a great day!

Good Morning!

Woke early and am enjoying my coffee!!

Feeling better now every day!! I am grateful my mother did not get this sinus cold as bad as me. I plan to start my workout soon and then get ready to meet some Spark Friends for an early lunch. I am taking my mother with me. I know she will enjoy getting out to something other than a doctors appointment.

I may just wait to start up my running on Wednesday. No big deal. Most runs the first month are 3- 4 miles so no loss by missing a week.

Maree, have fun in Chicago!!

Good morning!

Well I didn't face the scale yesterday morning but I did today. Only 1 lb setback. Not bad considering some of the snacks I had over the weekend. Hanging out with a 4 yr old means exposure to crackers and other carbs I usually avoid like the plague.

I'm travelling today and tomorrow so will have the challenge of finding healthy choices. Downtown Chicago. Don't suppose you're downtown, are you Kellie?! My train arrives around noon and I plan to walk the 4 blocks to hotel. I know many love that city, but I am a fish outta water.

Okay off to pack, then to the gym for 30 min cardio and 60 min crossfit.

Hope all have a great day!
