Scale is steady, but I'm still pleased. Yesterday, I got in movement and reasonable eating. I can tweak when I get more re-established in my habits.

Did I already tell the story of how, on Macchu Picchu in 2006, I ran into the man who was the principal at the school I had done my student teaching at in 1993?

We were invited yesterday for fish and shrimp at a friend's home. I had very little trouble avoiding the fried fish, the baked beans and the cheesecake dessert but I did indulge in the best hush puppies ever. Our friend insisted on us taking something home (she always cooks as though the 36th Infantry Division is on the guest list) and I scored enough steamed shrimp for two omelets this morning.

I finally got around to reading the owner's manual that came with my rowing machine. All the pictures of "incorrect form" looked just like me. I found that using the "correct form" makes the thing harder, wouldn't you know.

Happy Friday! I walked the dogs and now need to go to the cleaners with my son's shirts. I will be working this weekend. No rest for now. It is go, go, go time. I will try to find some good in that. Linda from bean town emoticon emoticon emoticon

Happy weekend - sounds like people have fun plans!

We went on a tour of the Taroka National Park, which is a huge mountainous area around a gigantic river gorge, cut into marble mountains - absolutely gorgeous breath-taking scenery, a bunch of short hikes, and some mellow walking. Included a nice Chinese lunch, too. Had a great day.

And one of the two people from the US actually is good friends with one of DH's long lost cousins - how crazy is that???

All in all, one of those good days with exercise and calories where they should be. Tomorrow is another train day, but we're heading to the pretty beaches.

Happy Friday! Woohoo! Looking forward to the weekend.

Three mile run last night. Back was a bit sore, so I wasn't sure what I would end up doing, but I got that in. Tonight, the guy is taking me to a celebratory dinner at one of my favorite restaurants, so I'm just doing to try not to overdo it and have a good time. This weekend, yard work and cleaning is on tap, so I'm sure that I will be kept moving.

Hope that everyone has a good, healthy weekend!

Good plan Bess, to type it and do it. I like to post what I'm goign to do. I figure "I post, therefore I do"

Last night, with the local running club I joined, participated in an Adventure Run sponsored by a local running store. Apparently they do these every month. SO FUN! You browse the vendors, collecting raffle tickets then when it's time to start, they drop a huge map of stores nearby who are set up to hand out more raffle tickets. So it's a mad dash to run to all the store and collect tickets for prizes later.

At one vendor booth, they were doing a plank challenge for tickets. I lasted 3 minutes 14 seconds which is UNHEARD OF for me. It helps to have people watching!!!

Onward with the Friday. I've had a lot of broken sleep this week. Going to do some upper body strength tonight and then relax!!!

Oh Maree! Me too - about the boating opportunities on the 4th. Our problem wouldn't be flooding but tide - If the tide is too low we can't get out and I have a crowd I coming that I want to take swimming. I'm having a hard time figuring out the tides. Thanks, y'all for the tips on the stuffed chicken breast. Usually I cook thighs for their naturally tender meat but next time I will try brineing them.

I usually pre-track my exercise - mostly because if I type it I do it and also it helps me decide what I want to do at the gym on any given day. But after lunch yesterday I just felt so bad I came home and slept the afternoon away. Still a little draggy this morning... and actually still coughing ever so slightly. sigh. And we had to say goodbye to my precious darling beloved niece and her utterly adorable husband. We share a special bond because she spent her teen summers with me. I just love her so. I know she'll be back, though and who knows - she might draw me up to Chicago's windy corridors.

and before they left who should show up but the contractor/carpenter - ready to start work on the house. And talk additions with us! Life is good.

Good morning!

Up early and relaxing. I had a great chiropractic treatment around a lingering knee problem. It is improving in fits and starts and yesterday some adjustments really gave me hope. Knees are complicated! None of it is stopping me from working out, though I need to do 'work arounds' for some things involving knee bends. Not the worst thing at all.

Swede, I loved the phrase you used: 'more choices ahead.' Lovely reminder that as long as we are on the planet, we have choices too make. We're not always in charge, but we can surely try to navigate in healthy directions.

Maree, hope your boat is okay inspite of the flooding.

good morning. we are "on the road" - yesterday we took the ferry to orcas island and visited friends, then spent the night with old friends in mount vernon. we return to seattle today for errands.

the good news about traveling like this is that we don't snack; the bad news, is we are not really in control of the food choices. but didn't do too bad yesterday. will have to search up a scale somewhere...

the other bad news is no time for the morning walk, and we visited people who are elderly on the island, and recently diagnosed with an illness, so we fell well short of our step goal. will try for more today, but we still have time in the car.

more choices ahead... have a great day, everyone!

Good morning!

Up early again. I'm hot and hungry, so I'm having a glass of ice water. And then I'll try going back to sleep. Scale is better but Friday is always my low day. DH has really been helpful with my eating goals. Yesterday he bought freshly flown in tuna steaks, He marinated them in teriyaki and lime, and made tzatziki sauce (greek yogurt, cucumber, fill, garlic, lemon). Yummy.

I was able to resist the sandwiches and cookies served at seminar luncheon yesterday in favor of my leftover turkeyburger.

DD has to work tomorrow and our Marina is flooded so our great plans for houseboat time have changed. DH and I will drive to her house and watch granddaughter. We'll find plenty to do. Just crossing my fingers that we do not get flooded out for 4th holiday next weekend.

90 min cardio and cross fit this morning.

Hope all have a great day!!
