My major success last week (2/8-2/14) is more of a change in mindset. I live alone, and I had gotten used to eating out most meals. I've tried to change that by batch cooking chicken and freezing up individual servings with some canned veggies. I've still got lots of processed stuff in my diet with protein bars and shakes. I've been thinking about ways of cooking more wholesome meals for myself. I'm still in the developing and planning stage with my thoughts, but it is a change for me in a better direction.

My success last week (2/1-2/7) was I did resistance training four days during the week. I used to hate working out with weights and machines. I was a cardio workout unit. However, I joined ActivTrax at the YMCA, and now I love my workouts. I think the biggest challenge was not having any idea what and how much to workout. The ActiveTrax program generates workouts with specific instructions around weight resistance, repetitions, and rest times between sets. It's been an amazing program.

My success for the last week of January 2015 was going to a great-aunt's birthday celebration. I had a great day with my food intake and exercise. I knew there would be chili, hotdogs, and cupcakes to eat at the party. I decided I didn't want that in my body since I was feeling so good. I ended up eating my dinner just before I left. I felt very satisfied. I got to the party and was able to avoid the food even when a cousin was pushing a tray of cupcakes offering me one. I was able to visit everyone and not blow my calorie intake for the day. I felt pretty good about it.

I joined a Diabetes Prevention Program. One of the takeaways I got from there is discussing the last week's success and challenge. I thought I would make these topics of discussions on here. It's a great way to celebrate the successes and also let others know they are not alone with their challenges. What was your big food or exercise success of the prior week?
