Cassie has some of those problems but not to that extent. My friend's dog, however, has all of them. She gets constant yeast infections in her ears and has red skin with bumps all over. Her vet couldn't come up with anything to clear her up so Friday she went to a new vet. Pup is now on antibiotic and Apoquel. She was told that many dogs have allergies to chicken and beef most commonly if it is a food allergy and Togie is now eating a vegetarian diet. She isn't to have a bath for at least 2 weeks.

If you can get to mercola.com, the vet on there uses peppermint or tea tree shampoo for dogs and a coconut oil mask (massage the coconut oil in and leave for 15 minutes or so and then wash out, once a week). I had my boys on grain free and for much of their lives a raw diet and my vet said that was great. He had a border collie at the time and said that many herding dogs need to go grain--free. Since then I have seen most breeds with a lot on grain-free diets. Also, see if you can find some food for sensitive skin.

Dogs Naturally magazine also has had some articles on allergies and itching lately.

My Hound has food allergies, and was also put on a grain free dry food. We don't feed can food. if you can afford it, have your dog's blood tested. It will let you know what your dog is allergic to. Henley has outdoor allergies as well. He does take Aqoquel once a day. A Vet has to prescribe it, but it does help. This month we found a new shampoo at Petco, and it worked real well for Henley. It eased his itchiness big time. It's called Espree Natural Oatmeal, Baking Soda Shampoo. It also has Aloe Vera in it. No chemicals. Hope this helps.

Oatmeal baths and some vitamin E can help with the itching, but it might help to know the cause to see if it can be avoided.

Really? Put rubbing alcohol in their eyes? I would think that would burn like crazy. I use a medicated shampoo (16 oz bottle) with 1 tsp oil (any type will do). Hope this helps. I also use chlor tabs and they seem to help!

My puppy has bad allergies and is itching a lot, ears, face, paws. He was in the vet and I think I will have to take him back. I have tried Benadryl, Claritin and Zyrtec without success. He had prescription ear medicine and it just came right back. Does anybody have any natual remedies or anything else to try?
