WALKZWDOGZ
cute name

Thank goodness the dogs aren't fed indiscriminately like we can perhaps do to ourselves.
Do we have healthy boundaries defining love as other than indulgences???

I see so many overweight folks with fat furry friends and it's rough. The pet can't take care of their (the dogs) health with the same responsibility we have; the capacity to execute responsibly for ourselves. Bad Mamma smother love over responsible accountability for the PET's welfare. I better shut up.

Peace and health for all, please.

We have been having rainy weather all month so I haven't been able to get Cassie out for walks and to the parks. Yesterday I decided she has not been too happy so we went out shopping. We went to Petco for a while and she got to meet people there and a couple of other dogs. Mostly she rode with me between stores. I am hoping that the rain will ease up this week (they've said 20% chance, but the 30% chances have wound up 100% up til now) and we will get out more. Cassie doesn't like the rain and being out in it any more than I do..

Hi, & welcome aboard! Love Westies! My aunt has a very active little Westie girl who I get to spoil.

I'm about 10 miles from any park, but we have a large fenced yard on acreage & are surrounded by 40 acre fields.

If your Westie likes most foods, Cheerios, green beans, baby carrots or apple pieces can make low cal treats. I have a Basset & spaniels--all expert at pathetic looks. I've always been much more diligent at watching their waistlines than my own! emoticon

I can't imagine NOT making park walks a routine requirement all the time.

I use an exact measure to portion the right amount of food for the dogs. No treats.

The food I buy has no fillers.

We live in an area in the midAtlantic where even really cold or really hot weather can be navigated creatively in different ways most all of the time.

Happy, Healthy Self and Happy, Healthy Pet = A Great Life.

That sounds like a great idea. I need to start getting out to the parks with Cassie, too.

Good idea. That will get you out and moving as well. Walking is one of the best exercises out there.

Now that Spring is here I hope to head to the park on Sundays with my dog,( West Highland White Terrier) Started doing this last summer with the husband and all three of us enjoyed it. While not really motivated for myself, my Dog needs to shed a couple of pounds, so definitely doing it for her. Being 10 now she needs to keep moving to stay healthy, and she is still very playful.
