My little Yorkie Bad Leroy Brown loves to chase squirrels that come to visit the bird feeder DH put up by the window overlooking our side yard.

When I let Leroy out, I try to look around to see if there are any squirrels around because I don't want him doing battle with them. if I see a squirrel, I'll make all kinds of noise so they'll take off up a tree out of harms way. On this particular occasion, I did that very thing as Leroy took off out the door, and the squirrel took off up the tree.

What I didn't see was the second squirrel still perched on top of the bird feeder. Leroy didn't see it either, but the squirrel saw him . . . .

As Leroy rounded the corner, the 2nd squirrel dropped to the ground at the same spot Leroy was passing thru..... I don't know which of the 3 of us was more scared!!! But thankfully, the squirrel headed up the tree.

The next day, Leroy had a big lump on his chest around his right arm pit. Thankfully he was scheduled for an appointment the very next day to see his vet for his annual check up.

The care and concern the Vet showed to my precious little guy brought tears to my eyes. It was as if she loves him just as much as I do.

She checked him over well - said she thought it was just a pulled muscle.

We're really blessed to have Dr Jean.

I'm going to post a picture of him Kathy, not the best one around but it shows what a lovely looking guy he is, his manner is just as great.

I'm with you there Jules!!!

A couple of years ago we had Phoenix in with one of his "Mystery Ailments" yet again..... and we were seeing the new guy (vet) at the clinic, whom we hadn't met before. As we were going in to the exam room, the staff member said that " Dr. Dreamy " would be with us in a minute. Thank goodness he introduced himself before either Meaganne or I could say anything clever like "It's nice to finally meet you Dr. Dreamy"....... because that was not his name! It was just what all the female staff in the office called him because they all thought he was really hot eye candy!!! Ron turned out to be a really nice guy, although he giggled like girl a lot, and we were disappointed when he ended up full time at the sister clinic to ours which is at the other end of the city.

Still makes me laugh just thinking about it emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Kathy I'm the same with my vet practice, they are so up to date with all the current treatments plus the vets are very caring and in the case with the one we see, good looking as well.

Nothing like a little eye candy to keep Juleen happy emoticon emoticon

i have to say that pretty much every trip to the clinic is 'best'! Our vets are exceptional, caring, and have become good friends over the years.

The beasties all enjoy going there, especially Phoenix who we are sure whiles his life away dreaming up "mystery ailments" with which to astound and confuse us and everyone in the clinic! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Over the years we've had several vets submit a donation to the Veterinary College near us, in memory of one of our Collies that had passed away, and the vets at our current clinic always send out a handwritten note signed by all the staff there, filled with personal messages / memories of that particular dog whenever have to let one go to The Bridge.. It may be a small thing to some people, but it always eases the heartache just a little.

My best one was actually finding the practice we go to now. We found them this past yr and they are great. Caring, compassionate, and are the first practice that helped me with my rambunctious Lab. She died last wk at home and we got a sympathy card that each staff member had signed with personal comments. emoticon emoticon

Mine was when my little Maggs suddenly herniated a spinal disc and was paralysed. The specialist vet operated on the next night and 3 days later she was trying to walk. It was absolutely amazing.

Most of what I take my animals in for is routine stuff, especially with the rescues. The best experience was when my daughter was about 8 years old and thinking she wanted to be a vet when she grows up. I was bringing in one of our rescue dogs in to be spayed and the vet let her (together with me) watch the whole surgery. She is now almost 18 and not planning on becoming a vet any more but she still thinks it was a great educational opportunity and applied biology lesson. emoticon

Mine was after Venture got diagnosed with cancer and given less than 2 months to live. He was with a foster at the time. When I was on my way to get him I kept praying for him, had 2 friends praying, and decided to take him by my vet to see what they could do. By the time I got there the two large tumors they had found were gone. He had only a small, benign tumor under his tail (unfortunately, that one kept coming back).

My bloodhound Hank tangled with a feral cat on a holiday. He got his face tore open pretty good. The vet came in on his day off, opened the office, zonked him out, and gave him stitches. Then he stuck around to make sure there was no adverse reaction to the pain meds. The vet was so kind!

Mine was when Sadie was a puppy. I came home at lunch and her face was all swollen and her eyes were glazed over. Apparently she had been bitten or stung by something. I grabbed her and took off to the emergency hospital. I walked in with her face all swollen and mine must have just been as white as a ghost. The lady behind the counter just smiled at me and said "it's ok - we can fix that". They took her back right away while I was still filing out the paperwork. They gave her a couple of shots and had us sit and wait with her to make sure there where no side effects. Sure enough the swelling stared to go down. She was only about 6 months old at the time and I think that while we were sitting with her every body in the building came out to see the puppy.

The second visit to the vet after I had adopted Pookie. She was so bad off when we got her that she was a wreck. By the 2nd visit she had gained almost 10 pounds and was feeling great, the vet was amazed!

Mine was when my papillon, Jake, was attacked by a large dog. He had minor bite wounds on his ear and near his eye. We went to an emergency hospital and the veterinarians took him in right away and managed to calm me down as well! emoticon
