The FDA & most dog food review sites (Dogfoodadvisor, Dogfoodchat, etc...) have a free service where you can sign up for e-mail notifications of new dog food & treat recalls. They keep current. It's a good way not to miss any.

It was only the chicken. I think it was Kathy who said that it was an older post (which I didn't notice) and they have corrected the formula.

Good info to be aware of even though it's not up to date currently. We don't feed any of that brand but one never knows when a recall happens with one you do feed. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks Cathy. I DID panic initially because that is what my old girl, Dona, gets.

Before anyone panics about this link.... it is OLD news from 2010, not something that is current!! (The link actually says 2010 right in it)

We have checked into this pretty carefully because we do feed one of the Blue Buffalo foods (not the one listed, it is way way too high in protein), and the company has posted several statements that they do not know why these links have resurfaced again.

There is another link going around cyberspace that actually does include the food that our guys eat, which is one of the reasons that we checked it out.

We checked with several of the stores that sell Blue Buffalo in our area, as well as with our own vet clinic and a couple of the others in town too. None have them have any information regarding a current recall or concern with any of the Blue Buffalo products. They all said that there have been NO RECENT RECALLS OR ISSUES with Blue Buffalo here in Canada or in the USA either.

Darlene, thanks for the alert though, it is always good to know that there may be some concern that people should check out to be sure if it may involve the food they give their animals.

Just got this link about a high-calcium disease on dogs eating Blue Buffalo Wilderness Chicken and thought I'd pass it on. I know there are a lot of people who feed it. It seems to be caused by too much Vitamin D in the food.
