This week is playing out rainy... Which, IMO is a bit more pleasant than temps in the 80's! -- I find it interesting, that in our core family of 5, that 3 of us prefer temps in the 60's-70's.

Still managing to get out the door for at least 20 min every single day to walk. Today marks Day #42. -- And I do know that is trivial compared to some of you who have been doing that daily for months/years!
emoticon
I have an appt. on Wed. & another on Fri. Happy to make those plans to get out of the house! -- For random trivia: over the Mother's Day weekend, Canon Beach asked 811 people to leave & go home (per the city manager on local TV news). So much for PUBLIC access and allowing the fresh salt air & sound of the waves to soothe anxious hearts & lives of stress from many directions. Sigh.......... As my son said: "I don't need to go shopping. I can bring my own food. I just want to walk on the sand & listen to the waves.
emoticon
I'm heading back to my sewing room to try to finish 2 quilt tops today. They've been on the "drawing board" for several weeks. Just haven't pushed myself...too easy to simply do nothing.
emoticon
Also, need to get some bread made again. We are all out. I had some egg salad fixin's that finished up the last loaf.
emoticon
Hope you are finding some "good" in every day. Step by step.... moving onward.

I like the idea of the walking poles, except they can be cumbersome. However, your safety is the most important.
I know what you mean about cars roaring by. We don't live on a main road, but it is the back way to Yacolt and part of it is only 1.5 lanes. The kids go roaring by as if they own the whole county. Argh!

Be safe.

emoticon for the info @TOWHEE !

First, it will be nice to go for a drive! ...and then to be able to park & walk! -- Honestly, I've almost been hit/killed several times each day I walk on my country road. If a car is going each direction at a high rate of speed (60+ mph), then I become the "casualty". One came so close, I could have opened their side door (& taken off my arm).
emoticon
My only other option that seemed to work in the past, was to use walking/trekker poles when I head out. The cars then seem to realize I might hit THEM if they "skate by" without giving me a space allowance. Go figure!

Looks like the rains are holding off until sometime next week?! I'll see about heading that way soon!
Thanks again!

Hi Berry,

I know it's a long way for you to go, but Moulton Falls Park is still open (or at least it was last week). There are two parking areas - one on Lucia Falls Rd., the other on Hantwick Rd.
The bathrooms are closed so plan accordingly.

emoticon I met up w/ my friend & her husband today. We were both at opposite ends of their covered porch. She needed a couple of grocery items (farm eggs from us & fresh milk). Due to her husband's diagnosis, the recommendation was to pull teeth since after radiation to his throat, it will likely destroy the healthy flow of blood & nutrients to the back of his mouth. And, since he is diabetic, he is inclined to have even more trouble w/ healing. -- Anyway, it was refreshing to see them & talk together. They are making the best of it all, and we all see "eye-to-eye" about such a profound lack of common sense in terms of the economy & how things are being handled (or not). ...IMO

I was able to do the Costco run, but I do think I will forego any further trips to there for the time being. Such a hassle & IMO not worth it, when all was said & done.

Looking forward to a family lunch this Sunday w/ just 4 of us. DS & fiancee' just moved into a new place last weekend. We get to go see it.

And, unfortunately, had to go to the tire store for what I thought was getting the tires balanced & possibly a slow leak. The slow leak was happening because somehow I ran over a cluster of hardware staples??! Guess that can happen on the farm where things aren't necessarily put away the way they should be??
emoticon
But since it's almost been 6 yrs since I purchased tires, apparently the tread indicated that at least 2 of them called for replacement now.
emoticon
A $30 cost become almost $300. Not quite what I was planning for. So, hopefully the unemployment payment(s) will come through??

And with all that meandering........it look like maybe there will be some sunny days this coming week. Now to find some places to park & walk?! Everything around here appears to be blocked off. Not like there isn't plenty of fresh air & space on the local trail!
emoticon

I'm sending prayers to your friend. She certainly has something to worry about unlike most of the rest of the population.
DH mowed our field just before the snowfall. It looks really nice. He also trimmed up the Cottonwood, so he can mow under it without getting a whipping.
The light at the end of the tunnel is that several groups I'm involved with are looking into virtual meetings. It's nice because those that need to come from a far distance (southern Nevada, eastern Washington) can participate. The downside is the lack of social interaction.
Oh, well, this, too shall pass!

We took time out to check out a used car. (Mine is showing signs of "issues". And, it's presenting as a very expensive repair. Thinking it might be best to replace it + wouldn't mind letting go of the manual transmission.)

And, afterwards, decided to "brave" COSTCO. Sigh......................... Nothing was a got-to-have. Until I got my friend's text. She found out that her spouse has cancer. (Waiting for a PET scan result.) Anyway, he needed a protein drink & neither of them should be out around people right now. It was the least I could do to help out.

Got the lawn mowed tonight. Also some digging done to repair damage done from a fallen tree a year or two back. -- I'm guessing I will have a "stellar" yard by the time we get through this virus "patch". Plenty of time to dig up briars & fix things up that have been let go.
emoticon
Hope you all are finding joy in the journey that we are on right now!

OOOh, can I come to your house for dinner?

The second and third meals sound wonderful. I'm not a big fan of sausage (it doesn't like me either), but the veggie soup sounds great.

Oh, I understand about not feeling like getting out. However, after the heart attack I decided that 10K steps was part of my medication, besides it's nice to get out in the fresh air and I don't have a berry farm to manage along with teaching!

emoticon You do a great job of getting out on a daily basis @TOWHEE !

I've been putting a bit more effort into quality home-cooked meals.

1st was sausage & cabbage + extra veggies soup
2nd was beef stew
3rd was chicken enchiladas w/ zucchini & red bell pepper & onions

DH was impressed!

* Sometimes, after work, I just don't feel like putting out much effort. Sigh....

Strange weather in Battle Ground today. Woke up to snow on the grass and rooftops, but not on hardscape. Then around 10 am it snowed, big flakes followed by small flakes. That lasted about a half-hour and then the sun came out and all the snow melted. It was a nice afternoon with temps in the mid-50's.

Welcome back Vikingwife!
I'm out in Battle Ground, so it's a bit far for me to join you on a regular basis.
There is a thread call "Urbaneers", which is basically a walking club sponsored by Vancouver and Clark County. You need to sign up for the walks, which are on Wednesdays. You DON'T need to go to an orientation before participating.

Just came back to the spark... live in Vancouver WA, 54 MWF, would love to find someone in the area that can help kick me in gear... I live in a house with my hubby who never keeps the workouts going... Would love to find someone who might live near cascade park (near olympia/McGilvary) who might want to take some walks with my doggo and me... I'm menopausal and having a very hard time getting the weight off... I treadmill when its really bad, but love walking with my girl. Shes a boxer/bully mix and very friendly to dogs and people, squirrels beware lol.
