We Also do a quite, circle game called "The Old Macaroni " circle game
Standing or sitting in a circle, two or more participants ( the more the better even 15 To 20 ore even more)place their right hands over their neighbour's left hands and sing the song. Every beat, a person claps their right hand onto the right hand of the person sitting on their left, who then claps their hand to their neighbour's hand, until the song reaches "three!", at which point if the person's hand is slapped, they're out of the circle, and must leave, unless they pull their hand away fast enough. (In this case, the person who was trying to slap their hand is out.) When there are enough people in the out of the circle to start a new game, they do so.
Since the "out" person leave the circle and as the numbers decrease, the circle shrinks, until only two people are left.

Words to the old Macaroni.

The old Marconi Tea-ah Terra,
The old Macaroni Tea-ah Terra,
Singing Terra, Terra, Teat, Teat Teat
Singing Terra, Terra, Teat , Teat, Teat
One, Two Three.

good glad you like the game. I really like yours too. We will give yours a try when the weather turns warmer here and give it ago outside...
One game the girls LIke to play outside. Is " What time is it MR. Fox" it's similar to read light green light. And here are the rules
One player is chosen to be Mr Wolf (the name usually remains "Mr Wolf" irrespective of the gender of the player). Mr Wolf stands at the opposite end of the playing field from the other players, facing away from them. _ But we actually face the girls A call-and-response then takes place: all players except Mr Wolf chant in unison "What's the time, Mr Wolf?", and Mr Wolf will answer in one of two ways:

Mr Wolf may call a clock time - usually an hour ending in "o'clock" ("Three o'clock!").
The other players will then take that many steps towards Mr Wolf, counting the steps out loud as they go ("One, Two, Three!"). They then ask the question again.

At any time Mr Wolf may call "Dinner Time! (or, occasionally, "Lunch Time!").- We Say "LUNCH" "Midnight!" may also be used.
At this point, Mr Wolf will turn and chase the other players back to their starting point. If Mr Wolf successfully tags a player, that player becomes the new Mr Wolf for the next round.

Hey GirlScout63 thanks for the game, our meetings start this week and we will definately be trying this game. My girls will love it.
One of our favourites is Cat and Rat. All the girls have a "tail" (we plaited ours from Garbage bags and reuse each time)The Tails are stuck into the back of their pants or skirts and one girl is the Cat. She has to chase the rats and remove their tails. Usually we have 2 or 3 cats depending on the group size. Watch the older girls thay love to cheat by sitting on their tails or tying them to the belt. Always good to get rid of some pent up energy.

Here are the directions for the Game "little Sally WaLittle Sally Walker – All sing or say these lines together.
1.
Little Sally Walker was walking down the street, uh huh.
2.
She didn’t know what to do so she stopped in front of me.
3.
She said, “Hey girl do your thing,do your thing , switch”
4.
She said, “Hey girl do your thing, do your thing, switch. .

One girl (Sally Walker) starts in the middle of the circle. We have more than 1 Sally walker While lines 1 and 2 are said, she walks one way, while the circle walks the other direction around her. Sally stops when the words, “She stopped in front of me” and faces the person in front of her. They both wiggle their hips while lines 3 and 4 are said. Then they switch places. and begin again.

I have never heard of any of them, you could always e-mail me off list if you like so as not to clutter up the discussion but I think its nice to have a whole list of stuff we can refer to and use so you decide.

Thanks for the game Mandykayee. Have to try it with my girls

Another Favorite is a stalking game. We call it Stalk the Lantern. I hang a torch in a tree and the girls go to the otherside of the property. They have to stalk up to the lantern without being seen or heard, If the leaders see them we flash our torches on them and they have to go back to the start. The winner is the girl who switches the lantern off without be seen. Works well at night in a slightly woody area. Helps if you are not night blind or shortsighted like me.

Our favorite game is one we learned at a recent field trip to a drama workshop. It's a warmup exercise for theater. It's called ZOOM. The girls stand in a circle. One girl starts the game by turning her head to the girl next to her (either side) and saying loudly ZOOM. Then it's like passing it on around the circle, unless I want to turn the direction and then I say AH. It goes really quickly forward and backwards around the circle, and becomes confusing. If you turn your head the wrong way, you are out and have to step back out of the circle.

One day at a time . . .

Hi All
I would love to know what is the favorite game your girls like to play. Noisy, quiet, teaching or just fun, if we each add an idea we will have a whole lot of new games to play in our units. Our favorite game is The Flour Game
I mould a "cake" out of +-1kg of flour and stick a small sweet/ candy on top. the girls sit in a circle and take turns to cut the cake and move the cut flour away. Their slice can be as big or as small as they like. Whoever lets the sweet fall into the flour has to get the sweet out of the flour mixture using only their mouths. No hands allowed. Stratgy plays a role as girls will often gang up on each other. By the way we all play and enjoy this from the oldest Guide to the youngest Teddy and often the adults as well.

PLEASE share your ideas.........
