That is an awesome idea! I love it. Good for your troop.

I am teaching my 3rd Grade Brownies to sew and we (mostly me this time) just made a baby quilt with a label that read,"To A Future Girl Scout; In Honor of Juliette Low's Birthday; And Yours!; October 31st, 2007; From Brownie Troop 1546; Mastic, Mastic Beach, Shirley; and then listed all of our first names (and my son who is our "Official Troop Tagalong"). Then we gave it to the Hospital to give to the first baby girl born on 10/31/07.
IT WORKED! We were told that the very touched and honored parents of Baby Girl Rodriguez, 7lbs 8oz, loved it very very much.
We are going to do another one for March 12 - Girl Scout's 96th Birthday and this time my girls are going to sew the ENTIRE quilt.

One of our favorite things was taking a Juliette Low quiz. The girls thought they knew a lot about her, until I got this quiz off the GS website. We had a good laugh, and then read the article that came with the quiz on good JLOW facts.

One day at a time . . .

It's crazy. When she was in 2nd grade in a small school there were 4 emilys and they put 3 of them in one class. My daughter is Emily 12 and my son is 14 Brandon. My other girl scout is Emily 12 and Brandon 16. The third Emilie is odd man out. She spells her name different and has a younger brother named Jackson.

Sounds familiar, we wanted something different and hadn't met or heard of an Emily for ages, only to find out afterwards that someone else in our group of churches also named their daughter Emily. The other Emily's birthday is 31st August of the same year as mine, Thank goodness they are not in the same school, that would be too much for the poor teachers. Just for the record my other daughters are Melissa 17 and when I was in hospital with her there were 2 more Melissa's born at that hospital the same week. Amy is 14 and has a best friend also called Amy.

My daughter's name is Emily. Our troop is 5 girls and 3 of them are named Emily. I had no idea it was a top 10 name when I named her that. It has stayed consistent for over 13 years in the top 10.Yikes.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all in the USA
Just realised my youngest Emily shares her birthday with Juliette Gordon Low. I have a copy of her Biography and never realised that before. So I will have a piece of cake and think of you all on Saturday at her party emoticon

Happy Birthday!!! Our troop doesn't really meet much anymore. We did have Cadette Fun Day for our service unit on Saturday. We got manicures and went to the mall for lunch and shopping. They had a good time. Have a piece of cake for me!
