My suggestion for any journey is to read through and identify the expectations for earning the award. There should be someplace where this is somewhat specifically described - the newer journeys are better at this than the very first journeys (which amaze is one of).

Then the girls can look through the books (I let them look at both the adult and girl books at their age) to idnerity how they want their journey to happen, meeting the goals as they go.

They should be taking the lead with you guiding and reining the, of the goals that need to be met.

I don't have the amaze in my library, but here is a summary of the goals for each award which can help too. www.girlscouts.org/program/journeys/

Good luck! I'm looking forward to hearing how your girls choose to follow their journey!

My girls and I are working on the couch to 5k right now and they are wanting to train younger gs and use it towards their journey/awards. Trying to get started on the Amaze journey so that they can keep working towards their silver award. Any suggestions for us? None of them (or I for that matter) are excited about the journeys. I am not sure where they should take the lead and where I should. I really need to sit down and read through everything. ahh - just got to find that extra time!

What do you do with your troops in the summer?

I usually get the girls together to do a journey, but this summer they are all working on awards, so I'm doing one on one meetings to help the girls with their Gold proposals.
