Your welcome Lulu. . We also have a lot of these outdoor events already planned and live really close to a lot of great places. . my council this week posted about one of the water sheds near by (6 min by car to get there from my house..) where they will be posting 5 stations along the way to watch the spawning salmon! But then again - Washington state has always been the nation's leader when it comes to the green movement, recycling, resource conservation, etc. . It's built into us from the time we start breathing!

I am happy to help spread "green" anywhere I go. . I spent my entire summer (3 months. . ) in Cleveland this year in an office (my company hq is there and they've revamped our program so all the outside sales reps have been coming in staggered for the new program. .) and OMG - the lack of understanding killed me! My office had reclyclers but in the copy room . . nothing in the break or lunch rooms. . And my apartment complex - NOTHING! 4 buildings. . 15 floors each. .20 units on each floor. . Cleveland proper has 20 "recycling" centers set up around town (the closest one to me was a firestation) where you can haul your recycables too. . I stock piled it in my apartment and took it down every 3 weeks. . and people always looked at me so strange in the building and I explained to EVERYONE what I was doing! And I talked with the manager at the complex about what it would take to set up bins and make it happen for the complex. . etc. . The homes in the area still put there garbage on the street in loose bags without a rubbage bin! I was just shocked.

Thank you so much for posting the link -- I'm excited to see what your Council is up to -- and to borrow ideas for what my Council should be doing!

My Council (Girl Scouts of Western Washington) has actually designed a whole new web site and are promoting Forever Green like crazy. . If you would like to at least learn about it. . they have posted the information as far as the monthly themes and the pledge so you can bring them back to your SU's. .

I am pretty excited about this one! We did the 95th Anniversary stuff 5 years ago and this seems like it will be even more impactful. Happy scouting!

No one at my Service Unit Meeting last night had heard of it either -- word has definitely not gotten out.

Maybe there will be a big push at Houston?

Hey everybody --

Earlier today (just before my internet connection went out for 8 hours or so) I posted a link to GSUSA's page for Girl Scouts Forever Green, the Take Action project for the Centennial down in the Resources category (here's the link again: www.girlscouts.org/gsforevergreen/ ).

My Council hasn't done anything with this, and it looks as though I may end up as the goto person for this initiative in my area. Some Council's seem to be promoting it quite a bit, and I'd love to know if anyone has heard about it from their Council and how troops are being encouraged to take part. If you haven't heard anything, well, that's interesting info, too.

Thanks!
