We are sort of ready, I'm in Canada and work with Pathfinders - roughly the same age as Cadettes. We are planning a fall camp at the end of October (it's going to be cold, I am in Central Alberta so it will be around freeezing at night). We have a building as a sleeping backup and where the can warm up as needed. We'll be doing a lot of camp prep through Sept and Oct.

Other plans include a Geocache afternoon, and they should plan their halloween party and enrollment (I think GSUSA refers to this as investiture?)

Looking forward to the year!

After going on a Cadette trip to Savannah, GA this summer, I am still feeling GS burnout. It took SO many meetings and so much planning for that - my husband doesn't even want to hear the words "GS". Plus this year, I have 4 new girls, making us 14 Cadettes - the biggest troop I have ever had. I am somewhat worried about how to onboard that many new girls and make them all feel welcome. I plan a survey the first meeting (in Sept. for us) to find out what they are all interested in doing this year. Last year we worked ourselves to dead fundraising and the year before that is was the pre-reqs for the silver award, so we are looking forward to just having fun this year.

One day at a time . . .

My daughter is a senior. We only have three girls. We don't havemuch planned so far. I am going to plan a mystery dinner for our leaders. Any one ever done one of those? I never have, so it'll be an adventure. Next week we start planning our SU fall camp.

My daughter is 2nd year cadette this year. I'm letting her plan most of the meetings with me this year. She wants to do more community service and plans to do something this year the with our local food pantry. I'm so proud of her. She is in the 7th grade this year and loves it.

the majority of them just crossed over and are still young enough that GS is "cool." There are only 5 middle school girls. It will be interesting to see what happens this year. I am told that this new leader is amazing and really keeps the girls engaged so we'll see.

I am the troop leader for my granddaughter and I have 15 cadettes, so I really enjoy working with these young ladies. My granddaughter is at GS camp this week, so the planning will really start next week when she gets home.

My Daisy (now Brownie) daughter is excited because I said I'd help out with her troop. I'm waiting to hear from her leader about what she's got planned.

My Cadette is apprehensive about this year. She's not thrilled about the lady taking over her troop and the fact that the troop is going from 7 to almost 30. BUT, the new leader is very outdoor oriented and DD loves that. There's lots of emails flying from her leader trying to get a schedule done.

It's going to be an interesting year.

I'm ready. Anna is drivin me nuts asking when the first meeting will be. We have one more camping trip to go on with the Girls the weekend before school starts. Anna is a Cadette and wants to do more for the community. I'm so proud of her. She has volunteered at the food pantry and is talking about coming up with a drive to collect new and used Halloween Costumes. What we collect she wants to donate to our local Harbor House (for battered women) who has children there and also the County Homeless Shelter for the kids there. The left overs will be donated to Jims Place (they have free clothes on certain days). This will be used for their October Service - Make a Difference Day. Other than that we haven't really thought much of it. Anna wants to earn her silver award so we will need to think of something for that too.
