I was done with cookie sales when the profit deal came out for our council. I didn't want to see another box of cookies for a while. I CAN wait until January next year to sale cookies.

That's awesome! Our council keeps them and continues to sell them until June. They are still doing booths now. It kinda takes away from the urgency to buy them though.

I hope your girls have a great time in Georgia. I know our troop did.

Our council had extra cookies this year, so they offered a sell-down deal. Any cookies you check out and sell, you got 1.50 in profit. That's almost 3 times what we usually get. Since we are saving for a trip to GA this summer, it was a good deal and we sold another 50-60 boxes.

How nice for both of you that your Council takes cookies back. Ours has never done that in the 9 years I've been involved in Scouts. We are planning to bring the cookies to a car wash that the Boy Scouts are having, and hope that we can sell them then. We are also going to try to have a garage sale, and sell then there.

GirlScout4Life - that is terrible!! My council does an exchange or give back on the Thursday before the final weekend AND anything you check out the final weekend of the Samoas, Tags and Thin Mints and you don't sell can be given back with no penalties.

Maybe you need to see if this is something your SU would be willing to trial out for next year.

Our final troop cookie #'s were down by 1000 boxes but we wound up running only 27 site sales (we did 32 last year). But our Council actually made our goals and overall were 4000 boxes over goal. We have a huge response here to Operation Cookie Drop since we have so many military bases and families here.

That's a bummer. Bring them out after the sales have been done for awhile and I bet you can sell them. Our coucil takes the cookies back after our booth sales so we don't get stuck with them.

Now that sales are over, we got the final numbers for the service unit and they were down 5,000 boxes over last year. I know my troop has over a dozen cases of cookies that we were unable to sell, so we didn't make any profit this year.

We are still at it for another week. My daughter is really into cookie sales, and always does over 1000. She is about 1170 or something now. She would like to make 1200. We had 3 girls in our troop sell over 500 - that was a first, but they are really pushing to earn money for our summer Cadette trip to Savannah.

AMEN to "glad it's over"!! LOL

I am literally minutes away from making my FINAL trip to the cookie cupboard for a last but not least 41 boxes of cookies (not for me, but because I am the Juliette Cookie manager for my area). And that's all she wrote. Now it's time to just get all that money collected, finish up the paperwork and be DONE with it!

WOOHOO!!! *doing the happy dance* LOL

Our sales ended last Sunday. . and our troop numbers were down by a lot! My girls, now that they are 7th graders, just couldn't get out there. . They also did 5 less site sales as a troop than last year. My daughter only will be around 600 and I had another girl at about 400 but the rest are in the 200's. . As a whole I think my troop ended around 2400. . 10 girls 7th grade. Last year we were at 3300.

But boy some of you definitely do waaaayy more than I do! I just do door to door (which she didn't do this year) and the site sales. My daughter only did 15 this year and the troop in total did 28.

I am SOOOO glad it is over! Good luck to the rest of you who are still out there pounding the streets!

PS - I hope that Dulce De Leche (we pronounce it "Leck") is gone next year. . GROSSS!!!

Wow you must be using "Little Brownie" bakers. We used to have them but in the big coucnil merge we went to "ABC". I don't like their cookies as well. My daughter had too much homework to do her booth last night (it's spring break for the entire troop except her) so I went. Stood in the cold, loaded in the rain . . .and she didn't even get credit for selling. But at least we had enough adults so the other girls didn't miss selling due to her.

My two girls have a few boxes to deliver here on our street... and it looks like so far we've gotten stuck with 9 Dulce de Leches, 1 Lemon and 1 Thank U Berry Munch. Not too bad. I am pretty sure we'll get rid of the Lemon and the Thank U... but I don't know about the Dulce de Leches! My husband says he likes them but no one else in the house does. I think $45.00 is a lot to spend on cookies no one but the husband cares about LOL Whatever... at least they don't tempt me one bit because I don't care for them at all :)

After 23 hours of boothing, my husband in a Samoa costume, another 2-4 hours door to door with two girls - one Brownie and one Daisy, and generally begging family and friends, we've managed to reach a combined family total of 1,078 boxes sold!

That's enough for me. I don't think I could handle HELPING my girls sell any more than what they did!

Our sale is officially over the 21st. But I am DONE now lol stick a fork in me!

Things settled down some for us on cookies. We got all our preorders delivered as quick as possible. We ordered 250 extra boxes, and after doing a table in our front yard this weekend, are down to only about 30, so I am breathing easier. Only a few more cookies booths to go - I have to admit I am really tired of sitting outside stores - it's either been cold or really windy. But my daughter will make her 1000 boxes.

Goodness! Sounds like we are all having trials this year to test our patience! We have this week and weekend left to go. . My daughter still has 91 boxes in the garage she thinks she is going to magically sell before the end of cookie season. . And I lost my job the day site sales started so I have been frantically interviewing, trying to keep all under control and taking my daughter to her bazillion site sales (she only signed up for 15 this year. . )

And it has been one thing after another. . I've had a flaky mom, two girls who want to do all the sites but no parents to take them, another girl who's dad keeps getting stuck in traffic (we have moved to only being the 9th worst in the nation now - we used to be #2!!) so I understand but ARGH!! And another one of the girls is really sick. . SO last night the 3 signed up for the 6 - 8 - none of them showed! My daughter stayed until 7 to help cover until her hunger got the better of her (and my high heels as I rushed there straight from an interview!)

Anyway - enough of my gripping. . Sales are no where where they should be but they are trying.

Mandy - did everything get worked out with your customers?? Our cookies always arrive the weekend of spring break so we always get our late but our council gives us two weeks to deliver pre-sales. YOu should definitely make that suggestion.

Go Team Golden Phoenix!

GIRLSCOUTPOWER - yikes... your experience this year doesn't sound like a very good one. :( Sorry about that... and for your cookie mom too, I know her and many others must have been totally frustrated.

Interesting to hear about all the re-alignments. It seems every single council in the nation went through realignment! My council this year is pretty large - Greater Los Angeles. I have to believe we are in the top 4 here too just judging by our population. But I don't know for sure. It's ginormous, area wise... and I think we have about 40,000 girls and 20,000 adults or something like that.

We use Green Beans software/cookie management database server here... and it was a browser hog for MSIE and the first day of booth sales signups everyone was complaining because we had to wait FOR-EVERrrrrrrrrrrrrrr to navigate through the boothing on Green Beans. Finally on day 2 they said we all had to download the Safari browser just to choose booth sites. I only got ONE "prime" (WalMart) site this year but I am not sure it wasn't my own fault for not being more on the ball. I waited til round 2 to start trying to get booth sites because of the browser issues. And we are still boothing until March 21!! I still have a handful of booths to go.... almost done!

This year I am in the Cookie Manager for all the Juliettes being served out of our regional service center. the Greater Los Angeles Council has 4 regional service centers and one main Council service center.

Last year with eBudde I was with a different council - GS of Southwest Texas (another humongous council- area wise - but only served about 20,000 girls and 8,000 adults in a 21-county area). We were limited to how many booth sites we could sign up for, and if anyone even tried to sign up for more than we were allowed, that Troop got a timeout session and was locked out of the system. Not sure why your council didn't implement that (or maybe they couldn't) because it probably would have taken care of that server crash and all the offending Troops, right away!

I hope next year goes better for you guys!

Well, here's my gripe for cookie sales this year. We get out cookies in mid-Feb (always the weekend of my daughter's birthday but that is another story). Then booth sales start the first of March. This year the cookies arrived in town (to the cookie managers) on Sat. Feb 13. Booth sales started Friday, Feb. 19. Some girls who meet on Fri/Sat hadn't even gotten their cookies, much less delivered them. We had a cookie booth that first weekend and people were mad - asking where their cookies were that they ordered door to door. Really is causing hard feelings. We tried to deliver as quickly as we could, but our customers complained that they had already seen them in front of stores. I am going to write council about it.

Thanks JustWant2Lose. . It did not go so smooth for us. eBudde crashed at 6am when all the people went to get in. . The system did not limit how many site sales troops could register for on day one. . Many troops signed up for more than they were going to do so that other Service Units did not take "our" stores. . and we have no opening day booth sales (our site sales also start tomorrow. . 2/26.)

I am not sure how big your council is. . But I am in the Seattle metropolitan area. . Before the merge, we were already the 4th largest council. . Now we merged with everything Tacoma and south to the OR border and. . yeah. . In our SU alone, we have 49 troops (we are a HUGE Service Unit). .

So needless to say, my cookie mom was very frustrated. .

My Service Unit as a whole (from the complaints at the leaders meeting) were not a happy bunch of ladies. . And I do have 33 site sales but only 3 at the "good" store and none at the store that always sales 100 boxes every time no matter what. . And 30 and the little grocery stores that only have 1 door and stick inside by the produce!

Go Team Golden Phoenix!

Oh yeah, I wanted to add that BEFORE my former Council used eBudde for booth scheduling, we were on a Council-wide draw... and that was a nightmare! I was completely happy when that went away! Nobody ever got what they wanted and Troops/Service Units were always complaining about what they did or didn't get as far as the draw went.

We started pre-sales Jan 23 here. We use similar software to eBudde, called Green Beans... it's essentially the same thing. We use Little Brownie bakers, too. Our booth sales don't begin until Feb 26... we get cookies on the 20th.

However... my council last year... we were a test council. Our Daisies sold cookies and we used eBudde to schedule boothing. Daisies also boothed. Troop Cookie Managers had to log on to eBudde and select booth sites on a first-come, first-serve basis. Many of us were up at 5am with coffee just waiting for that sign-on time to get those prime booths (WalMart, Lowes, HomeDepot, major shopping centers, etc)! We had rounds where the first time eBudde booth scheduling was open, we could only choose X amount of booths and only ONE "prime" location. During the next window we could sign into eBudde - we could claim X more regular booths and X number of "prime" spots. So basically no Troop or SU can go into the system and hog up all the good spots. It's just not possible.

In addition, last year I was our SU Cookie Manager and I went around our small rural area to local businesses, and secured booth sites in the local area only. We did a lottery for those sites within the SU.

Okay, my opinion on the way many councils are choosing to go with the software like eBudde and Green Beans for boothing is this.... I PERSONALLY find it extremely easy to use.. there is no way anyone gets any favoritism or anything like that. It is more than fair, and it takes human error out of the equation nearly completely. This way, those prime booth spots like you mention those 6 stores that everyone wants to be at... they are fair game to all Girl Scouts locally. GSUSA considers ALL Girl Scouts in a Council to be "local" Girl Scouts.

As far as overexposure, you'll be surprised at how many booth sale sites go without being claimed at all. Maybe not at those prime spots but overall, the total possible booth sales that the Councils have set up for scheduling in eBudde or Green Beans software - there will be literally hundreds to thousands of sales opportunities that Troops will pass up on.

Another thing I like about the eBudde and Green Beans modules is that Council does all the footwork for us at Troop/SU level. They go straight to the corporate level and secure our permissions to be at those boothing sites. So our SU Directors/Managers, Troop Leaders, etc., do not have to run around to all kinds of retail stores getting separate permissions for each unit that is going to sell cookies on different days. Council's got it all work out for us and all we have to do as SU Cookie managers and Troop Cookie Managers, is sign onto eBudde or Green Beans and claim booth sites. I prefer that.

This "new" computerized system of course is going to have its flaws, but I really do believe it is the fairest it can be so that every girl gets a fair shake at selling cookies in a booth!

Just my humble opinion of course.... emoticon

Hope the book of a post I wrote is helpful LOL

So Mandy it sounds like you Council is doing what mine is testing this year. .

But we get 2 weeks of priority signing in our own stores - day 1 all troops get 1 site, day 2, all troops can pick up to 2 sites, etc. . And we now don't get to see averages and previous year's selling history for time slots. . Sign ups are Feb and we start at the end of Feb actually for booth sales.

I'm glad you are having fun MHutton!

And sorry Carol and GS4Life. . My girls are 7th (12 - 13 years) grade and they still love it - in fact if they all hit their individual goals we will be at 4100 cookies for our troop. .

But I hear you on the kids that don't want to sell. You have to find something that motivates them. There is a sister 7th grade troop in my SU that is down to 3 girls and we are going to get them involved with us to start are big trip planning. Maybe you can find a sister troop to team up with? We also say, the more the girls sell the less they have to fundraise on their own. .

Our cookie sales start this Sat. It's supposed to be one of the coldest days of the year, so I dread it. Our cookie booths are on a council wide draw, so anyone can go anywhere. I personally don't care for it. We got nothing on the first day of booth sales last year. On the second day I talked to the troop leaving at our local walmart - they had been there the night before and make a fortune. it rained during our time so not much of a day. i didn't draw for thier walmart as it was in another town. seems to me the local girls should have priority.

Our sales start Friday the 8th as well, and like you CarrollKR, my daughter is not thrilled. We only have three girls in the troop CA/SR, and all will sell, but its hard to get them motivated, and with the economy what it is and me not working, I know that my daughter will not sell as many.

As for cookie booths, or SU solicits it's own stores, and then has a lottery within the service unit. Only troops in our SU are allowed to enter the lottery.

We began taking order on the 18th of December (Friends & Family).

Not sure what it takes to be SU Manager, however maybe you need to delagate more. Get your GS spirit back.

Our cookie sales start on the 8th. This is terrible to say since I am the Service Unit Manager, but I have no idea how it is working. I'm not selling cookies and I didn't go to the trainings. My daughter is 15 and she could care less about cookie sales. So I sold cookies last year. This year I decided I'd rather see a younger girl that wants to sell them, sell the cookies.

I'm just not motivated for GS this year. I made it very clear that I didn't want to be SU manager, and here I am. I'm running the meetings and rounding up volunteers, and that's about it. I still love GS, but we just aren't active. Plus there have been so many changes in GS and the council that I can't keep up and it raises my frustration level. So therefore, no motivation.

Hello All - with my area's cookie pre-sales starting this Friday, I thought someone might as well get this thread going!

We are doing a lottery system for site sales this year region wide sponsored through the Little Brownie Baker eBUDDE system and all of us leaders are very apprehensive. In my region, we already have 42 of our own troops fighting for our 6 stores. . and we have always opened it up to our neighboring service unit that only has 2 stores who will support them. . But now all the region can come in? Isn't this going to overexpose our consumers to too many girls selling at the stores? Isn't it going to be harder to enforce the different store managers request for behavior, etc?

Is anyone else's Councils doing cookies this way? When do your pre-sales start?

Go Team Golden Phoenix!
