We flyer all the schools in our SU about a week after school starts, then we will have a big event at a central location. This years theme is a Back to Scouts Blast and will be a County Fair theme complete with games, food and prizes. It's open to registered scouts, but only if they bring a new girl to register. If girls can't come they were given a number to contact if interested in joining scouts. We will then target schools where we don't have existing troops. We also need to target the middle school level, but it seems a lost cause that no one wants to go after.

We do open house nights too. Our council often gives us alot of recruitment flyers, pens, notepads, tattoos... etc

This year we're trying to target the middle-school girls, and we're going to have a lock-in/recruitment night. Our SU hasn't had a lock in for several years, so I'm hoping it goes over well :) We also do recruiting for our day camp at the end of the year too, which gives us names of people to call for the next year to get them into a troop...

Our council pays for the flyers. Usually we have to take care of putting a sticker with our info on it. This year our specialist said they would print it on it for us. Wow!

Each school has a registration night. We have one school trying something else. They are sending flyers from each age level troop to invite them to join their troop. They did it last year and it did pretty well I guess.

If you got a traffic ticket would you break every traffic law the rest of the day? Then why toss the whole day over a slice of pizza? ~Indygirl

We had our registration last night. During my daughter's school Open House (8/9) the Girl Scouts had a table where intested parents completed a short info sheet. Then the first week of school (8/11) flyers were sent home telling of Information/Registration day. Then the day of info/reg someone from Council visited the school handing out stickers for the girls. Our Serivce Unit paid for everything.

I want to get to a healthy weight and stay there forever. I don't have to make huge changes all at once, just small ones consistently.

I was just wonder what some of the other councils/service units do for recruiting. We hold rallies at the elementary schools in the two or three weeks after school starts. We try to send flyers home in the first week of school, but sometimes it's difficult to say when they actually get put in the girls' take home folders.

On that note, who pays for your recruiting materials? We had issues this year with the council stating that the service unit has to pay for printing flyers if they are different that the template provided. This template would not include the rally dates at all schools and was a terrible layout. The background was entirely black which seems like a huge waste of ink. So it seems that the council wants to set the membership recruitment goal, but has no interest in helping with the expense of meeting that goal.
