We usually theme our SWAPS too, but for the last several years we have had a Service Unit Early Bird event to boost recruitment, and it was a Swim and SWAP. We held the event at the local YMCA, and broke the girls into groups. The event usually runs from 10 to 2, and half the girls will swim while the other half makes SWAPS. We had to come up with a lot of different SWAP ideas for this event, and we rotate the girls from station to station for about 90 minutes until they break for lunch, then they swim, and the other girls will SWAP. It's a very successful event, and has been opened to our entire region. However, our turnout was down this year, when we published it in the council program directory, so I don't recommend that.

One of my leader sent this to me as we prepare to start up again next month. Might want to 'borrow' some ideas from it.

I want to get to a healthy weight and stay there forever. I don't have to make huge changes all at once, just small ones consistently.

Usually when we make swaps we try to theme them to whatever we are attending. When the girls went camping a few months ago, they made "toasting marshmallow". Have the girls collect twigs, aprox 2"long. Then hot glue a white 'pony bead' near the top of the twig. Glue a pin on back...and you have this super cute marshmallow on a stick, "ready for toasting" :) They were a big hit. Super cute and super easy.
PS: The little bird feeder sounds adorable.

We've never done a swap. We've never gone anywhere to do one. Sounds like fun though.

We are always looking for new SWAPS ideas, so I thought this was a great way to share ideas. Please give your favorite, and instructions on how to make it.

One of my troops favorites is a Bird Feeder
Use 3/4"OD X 5/8"ID Clear Vinyl Tubing, cut into 1 inch pieces. Poke a hole through the center of the vinyl tubing and insert a toothpick through the middle. Glue a 5/8" wood plug in the bottom of the tubing, then fill with birdseed. Glue another 5/8" wood plug with screw hook inserted in top. Attach string to screw hook, and affectionately pin someplace.
