One of my wishes for when I have spare time (ha ha) is to do something like that our church. Everyone thinks that because I have the only troop there, that I will be the troop leader for all their girls. I have to explain - no, I only do these 2 grades. I think that it's really neat to have a group like that. One of the biggest challenges we face in doing IPs is that almost everyone wants you to share with another group and it's SO hard to schedule with another troop - with the group setup, it's a snap. And I think that working with younger girls is a big factor in keeping older girls in scouting.

Hi Our troop is Multilevel. Before reading these posts I thought we were kind of unique. We have a separate leader for each group but meet at the same time and venue. Each group Teddies, Brownies and Guides do their own program usually around a central theme. We join together for a game or 2 and for snack time. For us it works really well and the girls are never afraid to link up to the next level because they already know everyone. Often we get the older girls to teach the younger girls, that way we can check that they do know the work.
Works really well for us.

We don't have the power to make rainbows or waterfalls, sunsets or roses but we do carry within us the power to make the world a better place.

I also have a multi-level troop the last 2 years we had daisies to cadettes, I make sure to break them up according to level and they each have their own leaders, if that is possible, there are so many pros to go over, send me an email and I can list them for you, not many cons except a little more work for you, if you have help then it is easier....it is the best for us, it works and I am very blessed as I have the best troop of girls and parents.....

We have 2 age levels, and we hold our meetings together. Sometimes we break into groups and one leader goes with each group, but usually I choose badges that are similar. Older girls usually end up with "homework" because they have to chart or track something - but so far it's worked for us...

I'll be anxious to see how the Journeys are - changes make me a bit nervous...LOL

Also, having multi-level troop should be a lot easier with the Journeys that begin this Fall.

I want to get to a healthy weight and stay there forever. I don't have to make huge changes all at once, just small ones consistently.

You could have the older girls do the bridging for the younger ones. Ask an older troop to plan the bridging for your older girls. My daughter planned a bridging camp for younger girls. That was her Silver Award. She really enjoyed it and I know the younger girls liked it and their leaders didn't have to do anything. My daughter has helped those Brownies bridge to Juniors and then three years later she helped bridge them to cadettes. Guess what she'll be doing in a couple years? I hope that leader asks her again.

I have a multilevel troop, and making the badges work is as others have said, the most difficult part. Not only do you have to find 2 that match, you have to track them separately and they each takes a different number of requirements. A real pain - but then I wouldn't trade my troop for the world - we are who we are. Going forward, another big drawback to me is that with the new structure, we will be bridging part of the troop every year. My girls are used to this being a BIG deal, and I am not looking forward to 6 years of briding requirements and ceremonies.

My troop is multi-level (Daisy & Brownie). However, there are 2 leaders for each troop. We will met on the same day but in separate areas of the school.

We did it one year with Juniors and Cadettes.

The difficulty in the badge work for the older girls is harder. But you can typically find similar badges. The older girls can help the younger ones. You might be able to sneak that in as a requirment for them.

You have to track two different badges, but that's not a big deal.

Really not a lot of difference other then trying to match up badge work. The older they get the more specific the badges get. Daisy and Brownie shouldn't be so bad.

I am considering changing my Troop from Brownie to multi-level. I registered my youngest daughter, Early Bird Daisy and I will probably end up leading her Troop. I am already a very busy Brownie leader as well. I figure if I change my Troop to a multi-level it will just be a little easier on me than having to hold two separate meetings on two meeting times/days.

Anyone else have a multi-level, and if you do, please tell me some of the pros and cons you deal with.

Thanks!

No one can make you feel any particular way, good or bad........ unless you let them.
