It coordinates with Girl Scout week.- so it can either be the sunday starting GS Week or the sunday ending GS week. Of course that is the week of March 12.

GS Sunday is in March, usually the Sunday closest to March 12th. With Easter in the mix this year, I am not sure of the official dates.

One day at a time . . .

Our council was no help with Girl scout sunday. We meet at UMC so it was natural to "give back" With the pastor we came up with our own girl scout sunday program. I use resources from the various web site. I just put in "girl scout sunday". Wish you luck on making your own program.
I think this is a positive thing for the girls to do.

We do GS Sunday at our UMC, similar to the earlier post. The girls do a flag ceremony OR a cute little skit. They usher, do the Bible reading, get their religous awards, if they earned them that year. We get bulletin inserts from our council. The only thing we do different, is do it on a different Sunday. The "official" Sunday is always during our spring break.

One day at a time . . .

I have yet to be part of a council that participates in this. They didn't do it in Germany, it wasn't done last year here, and now that I am a leader, I inquired about it by calling the Service Area, and found out our SAM had to get the pamphlets for us--I let her know of this, as I am anticipating some for our Chapel, and have yet to hear from her. *sigh* probably will not either, as she has already admitted to not being big on "church." although she does believe in God.

I will start the discussion. Our troop has traditionally celebrated Girl Scout Week. The some Girls come to the UMC for Girl Scout Sunday. They do a flag ceremony, and last year took the offering and ushered.. They also gave witness to the congregation of what girl scouting has meant in their lives.. The girls of course wear their vests or sashes. If we have any religious awards that were earned during the year they are presented then..
Then during the week we have a GS birthday party with cake. In the past the troop has purchased and donated books to the local library. This year we will take donations for the local non kill animal shelter. emoticon
